[center [i [font "times new roman" Ridley's whole life has been one nightmare after another. His father beat him almost every night. His mother wouldn't even look at him, and wouldn't even stand up from him. When Ridley was old enough, he ended up beating his father to the point of death. His mother on the other hand wouldn't even look at either of them. She knew she should have protected Ridley, but she didn't. That made Ridley hate her with a burning passion. He wanted nothing to do with her, and when he was finally able to leave his mother's side, was the time he knew he had to move on. His parents were pretty much dead to him, and he wanted nothing to do with them again. He made that promise to himself the night he ended up moving out and away from his home town.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" When the male was able to finally move away, and start his new life was when he ran into [b [u Your Name Here]]. She was beautiful, spunky, smart mouthed, and someone he could picture himself getting to know. What he didn't know was that [b [u Your Name Here]] was seeing someone else. She was in an abusive relationship with the male. He could see the bruises on her arms that she tired so hard to hide. He wanted nothing more than to take her away from that pain, but [b [u Your Name Here]] didn't want anything to do with that. [center [i [font "times new roman" When the two meet, it was like something clicked between them. Something amazing was unfolding and [b [u Your Name Here]] was instantly attracted to Ridley. She felt a connection to the male. Something she hadn't felt with anyone else, not even with the male she was seeing. She felt comfortable around Ridley, and he felt comfortable around her. One night while they were out enjoying themselves was when they got drunk, and ended up in bed together. Something they weren't planning on, but it happened and neither one of them regretted it. They were connected in more ways than one, and neither of them were worried about hurting one another. [b [u Your Name Here]] though needed to break things off, and escape her relationship.]]]

He was tired of seeing the pain in her eyes, and the way she tried to hide her body from him. That's when he made another vow to himself. He wanted nothing more than to help her, and he was going to. Later that week when they met up once more, he told her what he was planning on doing, and she went along with the idea. [center [i [font "times new roman" The night came, and Ridley came to [b [u Your Name Here]]'s home, he confronted her boyfriend and told him that he was losing the only good thing in his life. She went with Ridley to New York City, the only place neither of them would be known. Now that Ridley and [b [u Your Name Here]] ran away from another life, they felt like they were safe. They were far from it. They still needed to learn how to trust one another. [center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u First-]] The pictures are going to be real. None of the over used shit either. If it's too big, I will ask you to resize it to a smaller size. [center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Second-]] Romance will might be a big part of this story, but not at first. Just like in real life you have to work up to it. It's not a love at first sight type of thing. Cybering is a no on this site, if you want to keep the story line going, then we can move this to e-mail, or just skip it all together. That won't happen for awhile though, so we won't need to talk about that right away.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Third-]] Joining and then ditching is a no. If you don't like where this role play is going, simply message me and we can plot something out. Or if you are simply bored of it, and don't want to do it anymore, simply message me and tell me. I won't be mad if you get tired of it. Just if you join and then never post, is when I will be slightly annoyed with you. So please, at least talk to me about leaving the thread.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Forth-]] Plot twists is a must. I love plotting things out, and see where we want it to go. It's not that hard to become my friend either. So if you have something in mind, and wanna run it by me, all you gotta do is message me and be like [b 'Hey! I have an idea, and I just wanted to see what you thought about it!']. Because honestly I will do the same thing to you, so don't be surprised if you get messages from me about ideas.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Fifth-]] Stealing this idea is a no. It's something that's important to me. If I see anything like it, or someone stealing the main idea I will make it known you stole it from me. I have worked hard on this idea, and if you like it that much, ask me if you can borrow it. Just make sure to give me the credit for it. I will most likely say yes to letting you borrow it, as long as you ask me first.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Sixth-]] Posting. I know we all have lives outside of this site. I work full time, and sometimes on my day's off I'm not always on until later that night. So if you need a couple of days to post, I'm okay with that. If you are gonna be gone for a week or two, please let me know because if you don't, then I'll think you ditched out on me. I will do the same thing for you as well. If I can't post, or having a hard time I will make sure to let you know.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Seventh-]] We can talk about this having an ending if you'd like. It could end up as a happy ending or ending up with Muse B going back to the painkillers and ends up killing himself anyway. We can also add in more characters as well along the way if you'd like. I just ask if that happens you play a male counter part, and I'll play a female. I do that to make it fair on the both of us, so please don't try and apply again with another female role unless we add in a third to forth couple. At the moment though I just want to focus on Muse A & Muse B and then we can go from there.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Eighth-]] Please for the love of God don't message me over and over asking when I'm gonna post. That's something I really hate, and it get's on my nerves when that happens. I like to take time on my posts, and I like to make sure it's the way I want it. If you see me online, I'm most likely working on my post, and making sure it's done right. If I take two weeks to post, that's when you can message me and ask what's going on. Other than that, do not bug me to post, and I will not bug you to post either.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Ninth-]] I love details inside of my role play's. I can post well over 1,000 words. Yes I said 1,000 words. That's only if I have the right partner, and if I have a lot in my head for a post. For this story though I'm only looking for about 500-600 words a post. If I need to put a posting limit I will. Anything less than that, and I will lose interest, or it'll take me longer to post because I don't have anything to work off of. So please don't make me put a posting limit.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Tenth-]] You must be over the age of [b [u eighteen]] to even apply for this thread. There will be a lot of mature topics spoken of here. A lot of it will do with killing, and blood and gore. I'm seriously done with all of you under age users trying to write with mature writers. I'm not going to budge on this period. So please for the love of God don't apply if you are under [b [u eighteen]] years of age. It honestly makes me really uncomfortable.]]]

[center [i [font "times new roman" [b [u Eleventh-]] Now that I'm done sounding like a total bitch, I want this to be enjoyable for the both of us. That's what writing is about anyway. Having fun, and making something beautiful together. So please enjoy writing with me, and let's make something amazing, and see where this will lead.]]]

Roleplay Responses

Dawn nodded, grabbing a large cup and filling it with coffee, as he asked. She placed it in front of him with a smile as she looked to the door for more customers. As he looked at the menu, she couldn’t help but think this man was following her or something. How had he ended up near her for the last two days? The club was a coincidence, but now her job. This made her suspicious of him, but she didn't dwell on that. There was something about him, but she had yet to figure it out. When he spoke his order, she wasn’t fully paying attention, but she was able to catch it before he got too far. [i “Breakfast sandwich, waffles, bacon. Okay, should be out soon. First one here.”] she smiled, taking the menu heading back to the kitchen.

[i “Hey Ricky, first orders in.”] Dawn spoke to the cook. Ricky didn’t talk much, he mostly nodded and smiled. Dawn really liked him, how simple their relationship was able to be. [b “I’m here! I’m not clocking in ‘cause I don’t work ‘till one, but I’m hungry. Dawn, can you put in my usual, thanks. I’m gonna sit at table 2.”] Sebastian, or Baz as she called him, said as he walked through the back of the kitchen. Their manager, Clark, looked out of his office, to say something to the male, and he turned around. [b “Suck my dick, Clark. I’m not coming on early.”] he replied, leaving the kitchen quickly. Baz never took shit from anyone, and she knew that’s why she liked him so much. [+blue “Dawn, why can’t they all be you?”] Clark replied, going back to his office and shutting the door. Dawn laughed lightly, nodding to Ricky, who also knew Baz’s order anyway.

Dawn left the kitchen, seeing some college aged kids enter. [i “Fuck…”] she whispered under her breath. These kids come in all the time, never tip and half the time leave without playing most of the bill. They end up leaving a ten on the table for a thirty dollar bill. But, of course, she went over to them, taking orders for fancy coffees. They expected her to know Starbucks drinks off the top of her head. She smiled while taking their orders, sighing as she left their table. She went back into the kitchen and was able to grab Ridley’s food as she heard the small [i [size10 DING!]] of the bell. She brought out the two plates of food, placing them in front of the boy. [i “Sorry, I would have grabbed it sooner. Those asshole kids gave me their Starbucks orders I now have to replicate. They’re all getting decaf.”] she replied, as she attempted to mix coffee and sweeteners.

With those college kids coming in, Dawn thought back. Dawn wished she had gone to college, but she had to start making money as soon as she moved in with Daniel. She didn’t really come from wealth, and she would have no way to pay loans, so she never really thought about it. She would have loved to work with kids or in art therapy. She directed her attention back to the coffees, hoping she could even talk with Ridley before he left again. But he’d probably end up in her life again, how it was going now. [i “So, long day ahead? What are your plans for today, if you don’t mind me asking?”] Dawn asked. She fiddled with the espresso machine, [i “Damn, this shit never works.”] she said, to herself, hitting the side of it a few times before it started sputtering out some espresso. [i “Finally…”] she said, looking up to the male and smiling.

[font "times new roman" When Dawn finally noticed him, he saw the look of surprise on her face. He had caught her off guard, and he liked it that way. As she was stammering over her words, he looked her up and down. She did look good in that uniform, and he wouldn't mind seeing her out of it either. Those thoughts were the kind of thoughts that would end up getting him into trouble. Something he didn't need at the moment, but he stood there listening to her anyway. As she talked about the pancakes, he wrinkled his nose a bit. He wasn't much of a pancake fan in the least, but he wasn't about to tell her that though. He didn't want to hurt her feelings after all. She was being kind enough to even tell him what was good.]

[font "times new roman" When she handed him a menu and asked what he wanted to drink, he looked up towards her. [#8e8082 "Black coffee please. In the biggest glass you have. I have a long day ahead of me, and that's pretty much going to help get me through"] he said with a small smirk. He meant it too. Emeric should be meeting him later that day, and he was going to help move her into his place. He sighed lightly as he looked towards the menu. It was kind of getting annoying that she was hovering over him. It was like he was a child or something. He didn't mind it though, just meant he could spend more time with her.]

[font "times new roman" He was trying to figure out how to apologize for how he acted last night, but he didn't know how too. He didn't know if he should either. His words had rung true as well. She was in a horrible relationship, and he had seen the bruises. Emeric had been through the same thing, until she had gotten the help she needed. So he knew the signs to look for. He sighed as his eyes scanned the menu in front of him. When he looked up towards her, he finally figured out what he wanted to eat. Anything but pancakes. [#8e8082 "Can I get the breakfast sandwich? Instead of pancakes make them waffles instead, along with bacon instead of sausage"] he said with a small smile.]

[font "times new roman" He then closed the menu and handed it back to the woman. The place was small and quiet. This would have been his favorite place to go to get homework done. Or just to sit and think about what's been going on in his life. Something he didn't do that often to say the least. That's when he heard the door chime, and his eyes moved towards the door and spotted some college kids coming inside. They were talking and laughing, and he knew they were coming to get their morning coffee, and whatever else they got before classes. Those were the days he missed for the most part. Other times not so much. Then again, he did get laid a lot of the time being in college.]

[font "times new roman" So college did have some up's to it. He leaned back into his seat, and waited for Dawn to come back with his order. He pulled his phone out and texted Emeric. [#8e8082 [i I'm gabbing a bite to eat, and then I'll meet you at my place. A bunch of college kids just came in, so I don't know how long it'll be. I'll see you soon.]] He then hit send, slid his phone back into his pocket and waited for his food to be done. He was kind of getting annoyed with the college kids, but he shook his head a bit, and tried to tune them out for the most part.]

Weekdays were usually slow until around 2:30 when people usually started getting out of work. It was nice, as Dawn was getting paid basically to clean. Dawn didn’t mind cleaning, she was so used to it in her own home that doing it at work was like second nature at this point. It would also be a good day, considering she would come home tonight to an empty house. She would be able to come home, cook a nice dinner for herself, maybe watch a movie. She loved it when Daniel worked late days, and he seemed to like working, so he usually came home in a good mood, and tired.

Another reason was that Sebastian, or Baz as she playfully called him, would be working today as well. Sebastian was probably the closest thing she had to a brother when in reality he was related to Daniel. They were closer back when Dawn started dating Daniel, but the boys drifted apart. When Baz began working at OUTLIER with Dawn, the two of them became decent friends. Daniel really couldn’t be mad at Dawn for being friends with someone in his family, and Baz had been in a long term relationship with his fiancee, Annalee. Baz loved Dawn and wanted her to be treated with more respect than she would get with Daniel. He started working around 1 o'clock, to help before the rush. She hadn’t had a chance to tell Baz about anything that had happened, as he didn’t work the past few days because of a short trip with his fiancee. She needed advice from someone, she expected Baz, who was such a romantic soul, would be able to help her make sense of this guy who was shaking up her world. She mindlessly touched her cheek and feeling the pain told her she must have a bruise forming. She’d have to go into the bathroom and add some powder to make it less noticeable before anyone came in. She was wiping down a glass when a voice entered her ears.

[b “What’s good here?”]

Dawn turned toward the male who she had seen last night. The man who left her high and dry after trying to tell her what to do with her life. The man who told her he couldn’t be friends with her. The man that hadn’t left her mind since she first met him, even if she didn’t want to. She was at work, she needed to do her job, no matter the reason he came here. [i “W-welcome to Outlier.”] was the first thing out of her mouth, even though he clearly knew that. Why was she nervous, he was just a normal guy, but he continued to enter her life day after day.

[i “Uh, what’s good? Oh, our pancakes are to die for! I’ve had people come miles just for our pancakes. And we have tons of toppings or just plain, whatever you prefer.”] she smiled, taking a pen out from her apron, taking out her order pad as well. She was always confident at work, it was such a place of safety for her. She also couldn’t help but be confident looking in Ridley’s eyes. He made her feel as safe as being at work made her feel. Why did this man make her feel like this, and not her 5-year-old boyfriend who she claimed over and over she loved.

Dawn grabbed a menu, handing one over to him. [i “I’ll let you take a look, can I get you a drink to start, Ridley?”] she smiled. She wanted to let him know she knew who he was, without making it weird while she was working. Dawn felt her stomach start to grumble, remembering she only had a sip of her tea this morning before work. Normally, she’d be able to sneak away to the back and the kitchen would make her something simple she could take bites of whenever she went back into the kitchen. But she really didn’t want to leave her only customer right now. She liked being around Ridley, it was unlike anything else she’d ever experienced before.

[font "times new roman" The night seemed to pass by as the male spoke to Juliet. She was his oldest friend after all. She was always there for him, and she always knew when he was upset. In a way she took after Emric. Emric was his step sister, and a tad bit younger than he was. When he had first laid eyes on Emric, he felt like he could have gotten her into bed, but that's when he found out his father was going to marry her mother. Since then, they had been close as blood siblings. She was the anchor he needed at a really rough time. He sighed lightly, and Juliet cocked her head to the side. [b "What are you thinking about?"] she asked him. Should he tell her? He shrugged a bit before speaking.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "Just thinking about Emric honestly. I haven't seen her in a couple of months, and honestly I'm worried about her. I don't know what she's doing, or where she's at. Ever since her mother up and left she changed. It was like her whole world had been shattered, and in a way it had been. I don't blame her for being upset and leaving either. I just wish she would have stayed in touch with me"] he admitted. It hurt when he found out she had up and left too, without a single word. [b "I know honey. Honestly I thought I saw her in town a couple of days ago. I don't know if it's her or not"] she admitted. That seemed to brighten his mood a little bit.]

[font "times new roman" The two spent a little while longer talking, before he slipped his phone out of his pocket, and scrolled to her number and started typing out a message. [#8e8082 [i Hey Emric. Juliet just said she thought she had seen you in town. If it's true, will you please come and see me? I have an issue and I kind of need my sister to talk to about it. It's about this girl I met, and honestly I wanna see you too. Call or text me. I love you. Xoxo.]] He read over the message before hitting send and slipped his phone back into his pocket. Juliet smiled a bit and slid off the desk.]

[font "times new roman" [b "I should be getting back to work, and you should be getting home. Hopefully you'll hear from the woman, and soon"] she cooed. The male nodded lightly and stood. Tonight had been a total bust. He shouldn't have run away like he had, but Dawn wouldn't listen. He had seen the pain, the bruises she tried to cover up. He wasn't blind. He sighed lightly as he hugged Juliet tightly and then made his way out. He hadn't drank much, so he was able to drive. He made his way to his car, slid inside and started it up. He checked his phone, wishing that Emric would answer him, but it was silent. He was slightly worried about her.]

[font "times new roman" He made his way home, and when he got home he pulled into the driveway, shut the car off and climbed out. He then made his way inside, locked the door behind him, took a quick shower and fell into bed face first. The day had been interesting to say the least. He just wondered what Dawn was thinking. Dawn wasn’t expecting what came out of his mouth. He didn’t know anything about her, he didn’t know her situation, so how could he make assumptions about her the way he did. She thought he would understand, that he would have respected the fact that he had a boyfriend. After all, he told her he wouldn’t take no for an answer. She did get swept up in the craziness of it all, but she didn’t expect this person she had such a connection with to just leave. Dawn’s feet could barely move when he started to walk away. After her head cleared, she rushed back in after him. She looked around, and he was nowhere to be found. This whole night basically felt like a dream anyway, so this didn’t strike her as weird as it usually would have. She realized she lost her chance, and she really just wanted to go home. She found Sadie and the rest of her group, saying she wasn’t feeling well and she was going to head home.

As Dawn walked home alone, she began to think about what Ridley said to her. Was she not in a good place with Daniel? Was there really pain in her eyes that he could see? Was her relationship with Daniel unhealthy? She thought he loved her, she believed she loved him. He told her over and over that he would always love her, and no one else would love her the way he did. She began to think of movies she saw, and the men were never how Daniel acted. They never caused bruises to form on their bodies, they never took money from them...was her whole relationship built on lies? No, she couldn’t believe what one guy told her about her boyfriend. Why would no one else tell her this sooner, they would just let her be in a bad relationship? But why would a stranger tell her this if he didn’t mean it.

These thoughts left her mind when Dawn arrived home. She unlocked the door to see Daniel asleep on the couch. He seemed to notice her as she walked in, and made her way upstairs. She pulled her hair into a ponytail, wiping away the makeup on her face and changed into some sweatpants and a t-shirt. She came back downstairs, cleaned the trash left by his friends, the mess in their kitchen as well. She made sure everything was clean before going over to careful wake her boyfriend up. He hated not sleeping in bed, so she didn’t want to leave him on the couch. [i “Daniel...hey...wake up. Let’s head on the bed, okay?”] she whispered to him. He woke up, his eyes bloodshot and he seemed angry. [b “You know you shouldn’t wake me up. The place is cleaned up though, so I’ll let it slide. Did anything happen tonight?”] he asked, taking her by the wrist upstairs. [i “No”] she said, quietly. [b “You sure? No one gave you a hard time?”] he asked again. [i “No one gave me a hard time. After having a drink, they played some music. I danced a little, and I came home.”] she said, she didn’t lie, she just left some parts out. If Ridley had agreed to want to hang out with her, she would have told Daniel about him. She thought if Daniel liked him, and got to know him, he wouldn’t mind Dawn hanging around him.

Daniel was tired, so his violent tendencies were calmer than normal. [b “Night, Dawn. Love you.”] [i “I love you too, Daniel.”] she replied as the two of them fell asleep in the early hours of 3 am.

Dawn woke up as she always did, took a quick shower, and completed her simple morning routine. She dressed in a pair of light wash jeans, a black long sleeve bodysuit with a high neck, and let her hair fall in messy waves as it naturally fell. She grabbed her glasses, went to the kitchen, made Daniel’s coffee, and waited till he took it out of her hand, per usual. Dawn went over to him, smiling. [i “Morning. Do you have work today?”] she asked, cleaning the pot she used to boil the water for her tea. [b “Yeah, long day.”] he replied, sipping his coffee. Daniel worked as a software engineer, his ‘on-days’ consisted of 12-16 hour days, depending. He didn’t work every day, as he was higher in the ranks than most, but when he did work, they were long. As she picked up her mug of tea, she lost grip and dropped the cup, the hot water barely missing her and the cup shattered on the floor. She heard Daniel stand as she quickly started to clean up the mug, lightly sweeping the pieces up and throwing them away. As she stood up, she felt a swift slap to her cheek. [b “Stop fucking up. Are you serious? Can’t hold a mug, really.”] he said, looking down to the woman. She brought a hand to her stinging cheek. [i “I-I I’m sorry.”] she replied, avoiding eye contact with the male. Daniel grabbed her chin, positioning her face to look at him. [b “Look. At. Me. When. I. Talk. To. You.”] he replied, and when she nodded, he let her chin go with some force.

[i “I-I have work. Love you.”] Dawn said, kissing Daniel’s cheek before rushing out the door. As he walked to work, she held the tears from falling. Ridley was right, someone she loved should scare her and hurt her. She did love Daniel, and she knew he loved her, but he treated her like garbage. Honestly, she didn’t know if she really could be with anyone else. She was fully dependent on him; living with him, no car, minimum wage job. It wasn’t just as easy as leaving. She entered her job, tied her apron around her thin waist. She leaned against a wall, waiting for the first people to enter for the day at OUTLIER. Her brain was just flipping through thoughts of Ridley, his words to her, Daniel, the words Daniel spoke to her this morning. It made her head hurt, she tried to relax and let these things leave her mind. She needed to be prepared for when customers came in, considering she was the only waitress this morning.

[font "times new roman" As the song slowly came to a close, the male felt slightly comfortable. That's when Dawn pulled away and pulled him out of the building. When they stopped and she told him about Daniel, he just rolled his eyes and looked down at her. [#8e8082 "Honestly, if you loved him like you claim you do, you would have fought harder to tell me no, but you let it happen. So that tells me you aren't in a good place with him. I can see the pain in your eyes, but if you wanna be with someone who won't even come out with you, and show you off, that's on you"] he said lightly. Did he even want to be friends with her? Or was he just going to be a hidden secret? Another thing he really hated. He sighed lightly and ran a hand through his hair.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "Listen, I know you felt it too. I know you did. If you hadn't you wouldn't have even danced with me. I've seen you looking around the room like a caged animal. I don't know what he's done to you, and honestly whatever it is, it's not healthy. You shouldn't have to be looking over your shoulder like you are looking for something or someone. You should enjoy yourself. Seeing as that's not gonna happen, I do apologize but I can't even be friends with someone like you. You seem like a wonderful person, but you have some baggage that I shouldn't even have to deal with. You shouldn't have to deal with it either."]]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "If you mean what you say about getting to know me, then I guess I'll let you find me when the time is right. I just hope you'll find what you are looking for, and hopefully this man you claim to love, starts treating you better"] he said lightly. He then ducked his head and went back into the bar. When he went back inside, Juliet walked up to him and touched his arm lightly. [b "You look like you just got your heart broken. Everything okay?"] she asked him. The male shook his head lightly, and didn't say anything else. In a way he had gotten his heart broken, and by someone he didn't even know either.]

[font "times new roman" A part of him wanted to go back out there, talk to her, get to know her, but it was pointless. She didn't see anything besides friendship with him, and he had to accept that. Did he want too? Hell no. He wanted to get to know her on a personal level, and show her what it's really like to be taken care of. He could tell she wasn't happy with her relationship, but he wasn't going to force her too either. Juliet nudged him a bit, and nodded towards the back. He nodded and the two went back there together. [b "Talk to me honey, what's going on?"] she asked him. The male sighed and closed the door to an office they were in, cutting off the loud music.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "Honestly I don't know where to start. I feel like my heart's been ripped outta my chest, and that woman I was dancing with pretty much led me on. She felt it too, I know she did. But yet, she pretty much turned me down, and I feel like a total asshole for thinking maybe I could help change her mind"] he admitted. Juliet sat on the desk and crossed her legs, looking towards the male.]

[font "times new roman" [b "Ridley, I know it hurts, and you had been warned. But that doesn't mean anything. If she's really in love with the male, she wouldn't have let you hold her as close as she did. She's not happy. I could see it. When she was in your arms though, she looked peaceful and happy. Just give her space, and time, and hopefully she'll realize what she's really been missing out on"] she said with a wink. The male smiled and they spent the next couple of hours locked in the office talking. The whole time he was thinking about Dawn, but didn't speak her name again for the rest of the night.]

Dawn bit her lip. The answer to his questions was valid but tricky. It was wrong of her to not want to mention her boyfriend because he was the love of her life, but something about this man wanted to keep him a secret for now. [i “Oh, uh, I was taking a break. But I’m not big on dancing anyway.”] she lied, rubbing the back on her neck and avoiding eye contact with the male. She took a large gulp of her cider, taking a small sigh afterward. The alcohol was helping her calm down a little bit because the male next to her was doing something to her. She was confused about what this feeling was, but she didn’t want the feeling to go away. She enjoyed it, a lot actually.

The noise from the stage caused her to look over at the stage. Oh, a band, makes sense in a bar anyway. They quickly set up the stage, the band giving off a rock/metal vibe, so the music would at least be good. The music would go well with the decor of this bar, and made perfect sense why they were here. [b Sorry about the noise ladies and gents. Please give a warm welcome to my band Devil's Knot, and I hope you all enjoy.] the male on stage said. As Dawn adjusted her seat to sit and watch the band, the glass was taken from her hand. Just then, Ridley told her she was dancing with him, and he was not going to take no. But, she was gonna try. [i “Oh, no. Ridley, no! I don’t dance!”] she yelled as he pulled her on to the dance floor. When their hands touched, Dawn felt something between the pair. Again, it was weird, but she didn’t want it to end.

Dawn noticed as they made their way to the floor, so did everyone else. They were pretty concealed within the group, there was no way her boyfriend would have to know anything happened. This was harmless dancing with a new friend, no harm no foul. She couldn’t see her friends or any of Daniel’s friends, so she was safe. For the first time, she could be the most herself she could in a while. Dawn was being truthful, she really didn’t know how to dance though. She looked around, deciding to follow what everyone else did around her. She followed, but a smile appeared on her face. She was happy. She was having fun. This night was just so she didn’t have to be cooped up in her room while her boyfriend and his friends trashed their house, but now, it was enjoyable, all because of Ridley.

As the song ended, Dawn relaxed. She heard the male on the stage say to pull someone special close and enjoy. She then felt two arms snake around her slim body, looking up at the male she was pressed against. Her face became red, and she avoided eye contact with the male. She panicked as she was unsure what to do with her hands, which she assumed she placed them on his chest. They moved with the beat, and this was something Dawn never had done before. Daniel didn’t like to dance, he didn’t like to go out with her, so this is something she never really got to experience. It was a really great experience, and she couldn’t help but smile. The male whispered into her ear, sending goosebumps down her arms. She smiled softly as he told her he wished he got her number and had been thinking about it all day, because she felt the same way. [i “I’ve felt the same way.”] she whispered back to him.

As she looked up at him, she then quickly remembered Daniel and how this was not harmless anymore. She quickly moved her hands from his chest, and took his hand. She pulled him away from the crowd, finding a secluded and hidden area, away from spies or her friends. She found an alley, somewhere where most would probably take someone to make-out at the back of a bar. [i “Uh, Ridley. I, uh, have a very serious boyfriend. His name is Daniel, and uh,dancing like this, I didn’t want you to get the wrong impression. Daniel probably wouldn’t be happy if I was dancing with a guy he didn’t know, but I would like to be friends, and keep in touch if you’re cool with that.”] Dawn spoke nervously. She couldn’t help but rub her hands together, and her eyes darted around, looking anywhere but at Ridley.

As she completed her nervous monologue, her eyes stopped on him. Her eyes filled with hurt, the fact that she knew her relationship was hard, but she felt in her heart that Daniel was her soulmate. Daniel told her that every day, so it had to be true, right? But why was she feeling such things to some guy she just met, it wasn’t right. She knew there was something special about this guy, which is why she wanted him to stay around. She wanted to spend time with him, which she would most likely have to lie about. But she had never felt this way about anyone before, and never a guy. [i “We could exchange numbers or something. Tonight has been so much better since you arrived.”] she managed a small smile, but it fell as she realized she would have to go home at some point and clean basically all night long.

[font "times new roman" Seeing the female made his heart skip a beat. She looked even more beautiful under the shitty lighting. That's when she pointed out her friends, and then he looked back towards her. He was slightly surprised she wasn't with them. It was a little strange as well. He leaned against the counter and looked her up and down. [#8e8082 "So, if you don't mind me asking. Why are you over here alone? If you are with them, shouldn't you be with them instead?"] he asked her. It might be a bit personal, but he didn't care. He had come alone because that had been his choice. If he had come with so called [i friends] he wouldn't be sitting at a bar alone. She was kind of gutsy to even do that, because if he hadn't come along some other asshole would have tried hitting on her.]

[font "times new roman" That's when Donte and his band took the stage. While they were trying to get everything set up, there was feedback, and the sound was horrible. He looked over at Dawn as she mentioned she didn't like loud noises. That was another strange thing. If she didn't like loud noise, then why was she in a bar? A bar that was loud, and thumping with music. He shoved that all aside as Donte walked towards the mic. [b "Sorry about the noise ladies and gents. Please give a warm welcome to my band Devil's Knot, and I hope you all enjoy"] he said. Ridley stood there against the counter watching the whole thing play out.]

[font "times new roman" That's when Donte and the rest of the band started playing. The music was kind of like a soft rock, with a mix of metal in it. Something Ridley loved. He loved both rock and metal with a passion. As Donte started singing, the male looked towards Dawn, and he took her glass out of her hands. [#8e8082 "If you are going to be here, you are going to dance. I'm not going to take no for an answer"] he said. He placed both of their glasses onto the counter, and he took her hand in his. The moment his skin seemed to touch her's, his heart skipped a beat. Something was there and he could feel it. He didn't know what it was, but it was there. It scared him too, maybe he was reading too much into it. He didn't care though, he was going to enjoy himself, and he was going to make sure Dawn did too.]

[font "times new roman" As the song died out, Donte switched it up a bit. [b "Alright gents, grab that special someone, pull her in close, and enjoy yourselves"] he said. A small cheer went up, and Ridley knew this was the perfect timing too. He slid his arms around Dawn's waist, and drew her against him. Feeling another solid body against his was amazing. He didn't want it to end any time soon. He made sure to keep her against him, as he slowly let their bodies move to the beat. He leaned down and took in her smell. He let out a small sigh and whispered in her ear. [#8e8082 "I'm glad I ran into you tonight. You've been on my mind all day, and I've been kicking myself for not getting your number"] he admitted.]

[font "times new roman" It was a shitty thing to say, because he knew she was with Daniel, but he didn't care. He was in a bar, listening to someone's band, and he was going to enjoy himself. No matter the cost. He pulled her in a bit closer, and let the music was over him as he moved against Dawn, letting the moments linger the way they needed to.]

Dawn's feet kicked as she sipped on her drink. She noticed the signs around the place that a band would be playing at the bar tonight. She hoped they didn’t suck, or that it wasn't too loud. She wanted to be able to stay out with her friends, and hopefully would be invited out again. She knew she couldn’t socialize too much, people took pictures and if Daniel even saw her in the background, she could be in trouble when she got home. Maybe more alcohol would help her, so she downed her current vodka lemonade and ordered a second. She knew she didn’t want to go home too drunk either, so this would probably be her last.

As the woman started her next drink, her friend Sadie hopped over to her, sitting down next to her. She ordered a long island iced tea, something she knew was dangerous to drink, considering they tasted like juice and would get her friend tipsy quickly. [b “Aren’t you gonna come dance with us? I know the music kinda sucks but the live bands should be coming soon, and they are usually pretty good here.”] her friend chimed. Of course Dawn wanted to dance, to let loose with some friends, but one wrong move would add new bruises to her collection. Daniel would spend the night yelling, and it would end in her crying. [i “Nah, maybe later. I’m not drunk enough to dance.”] Dawn lied, but laughed to cover it up. [b “Well, okay. If you change your mind, you know where to find me!”] Sadie smiled, grabbed her drink and paid the bartender. Dawn smiled and waved to her friend, turning toward the bar, sighing and resting her head on her hand.

The night got longer, and Dawn had been babysitting her 3rd drink for a while now, which she opted for a cider so she wasn’t too drunk at home. She was bored, her friends had checked in a few times, but she declined their offers of coming out on the floor. Maybe once the bands started, but right now, she was worried about the scouts Daniel probably sent to watch her. She looked around, noticing she was pretty alone, she lifted her sweater sleeve, she started scratching at her bruised wrist.Just then, a familiar voice rang in her ear. She turned and was shocked to see the man from before. [i “Oh, uh, hi! Uh, Ridley, right?”] Dawn smiled. She remembered his name, she didn’t want to seem crazy. She noticed her sleeve was exposing a bruise, she quickly pulled her sleeve back over it to cover. [i “Why would you not expect to see me here?”] she laughed, then pointed over to her friends. [i “I’m with some friends from work. Well, why are you here, huh? Just getting drunk on a weekday?”] the girl said, sass filling her voice.

Now that Dawn had more than just a few moments, she could get a good look at the man in front of her. He was rugged, handsome, chiseled, a whole damn package. From their first meeting, he seemed kind, but so did Daniel when she met him. She had a hard time trusting anyone's character anymore, especially men. The only male she had to base all men off was her current boyfriend of 5 years.

It seemed like fate that the two had met again, on the same day. She didn’t want to get her hopes up about anything, but it seemed like fate to her. She was also surprised the man was so calm about talking to her. Most people from around here knew her and her boyfriend, and the fact that Daniel would kill any guy who talked to Dawn. Dawn usually hated the fact that Daniel was so well known, but it did keep creeps away. But it was only because he loved her, loved her so much and didn’t want anyone to hurt her. Yeah, that’s why he kept everyone away from her.

As she waited for the male’s answer, feedback from the band’s setting up screamed through the speakers. Dawn sighly screamed from the sudden noise, her hands flying towards her ears. [i “Yikes…”] she said, closing her eyes as well. [i “Fuck, I hate loud noises.”] she said, taking her hands slowly down from her ears and opening her eyes back up to look at the man.

[font "times new roman" As the male sat there thinking, apart of himself felt odd. Maybe Jade was blowing the whole thing out of the water, but the look in Dawn's eyes told him otherwise. Something was going on there, it was like she wasn't wanting to be where she was. He shook his head lightly as he finished his coffee, and left Jade a tip. He then pushed himself up and off the stool. Right when he stood, his phone started ringing. He sighed lightly and pulled it out of his pocket. He looked at the caller ID and groaned a bit. He was debating on ignoring it, but chose other wise. He answered and put the phone to his ear. [#8e8082 "What's up Donte?"] he asked.]

[font "times new roman" The male on the other end laughed a bit. [b "Fuck Ridley, why don't you sound a bit more happy to hear from me?"] he asked. Ridley waved to Jade as he walked past her. [#8e8082 "Honestly, whenever am I happy to hear from you? You've pretty much ruined everything for me in the past, so why should I want to hear from you?"] he asked, his voice lacing with venom. Donte laughed on the other end, and it seemed to set Ridley off even more. [b "Listen, I know you and I have bumped heads, but sometimes people do change. I know I have, so give me a chance okay?"] he asked.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "You fucked me over a couple of years ago. You got my ass busted for something that I didn't even do. So why the hell would I want to listen to what you have to say now?"]]

[font "times new roman" [b "Because there's this new bar in town that my band and I are gonna be playing at, and I would like it if you came, and listened to what we had to offer, and then let me know what you think of the music"]]

[font "times new roman" Ridley stopped in his tracks. He forgot that Donte was apart of a band, and he was shocked that the male was asking him to come out and listen to him. He knew the two of them didn't get along, but he would like to change that. [#8e8082 "Alright, I'll come and listen to you play. That's pretty much it. I'm not gonna sit there and get drunk off my ass either. What's the name of the bar?"] he asked the other. Donte let out a whoop of excitement, that made Ridley move the phone away from his ear for a couple of seconds. [b "The name of the bar is Starfall Bar, I'll text you the address"] click.. Ridley was surprised that Donte just hung up on him. At least he didn't have too.]

[font "times new roman" A couple seconds later a text came through on his phone, and he read the address. He wasn't that far from the bar at all. It was within walking distance, but it was still early enough in the day. He made his way back to his apartment and waited for the time to head out. He made sure the apartment was cleaned, and made sure he had work clothes for the day after tomorrow. He wasn't about to stay out till all hours of the night either. He did want to keep his job. So keeping himself busy with cleaning made the time go by quickly. Pretty soon he was changing into a pair of black jeans, and a white t-shirt and grabbing his shit once more and left the apartment for the second time that day.]

[font "times new roman" This time he chose to drive into town, because he wasn't about to walk home later on. He didn't trust this city yet, and he didn't know if he ever would. He slid in behind the wheel, pulled up the address once more, and headed into town. He was kind of kicking himself for telling Donte that he would come along. He just didn't want to see Donte, but he did want to get out for a couple of hours. When the building came into view, he pulled into the parking lot, and shut the car off. He sat there a moment longer, before he climbed out and made his way inside.]

[font "times new roman" The thumping of the music made his heart skip a beat. So far Donte wasn't on stage yet. He looked around looking for the other male, and didn't see him right away, and he was okay with that. As his eyes scanned the people around him, his eyes landed on the female he had run into that morning. He was kind of surprised to see her in a place like this. She looked like she was alone, and his heart broke for her. He slowly made his way towards the bar, and ordered a Coke and Vodka, and then turned to the woman next to him. [#8e8082 "Of all places, I didn't think I would run into you here"] he said loud enough for the woman to hear. He broke out into a warm smile just then, and leaned against the counter.]

As her hand touched his, she couldn’t help but smile. His smile at her made her want to jump into his arms, but she couldn’t think like that, she was in a relationship. She knew that this was against the “rules” Daniel had given her. No guys, no friends with guys, no talking to guys, unless it's work related. Well, Dawn added the last part, considering her boss and co-workers were male. She looked up at the gorgeous male again, discovering his name was Ridley Edwards, before he apologized again before walking off. Dawn actually was sad as the male walked away, wishing she knew she would see him again, but knowing it was probably impossible. She looked at her watch, noticing she only had 3 minutes for the 5 minute walk to work, so she started running down the street.

The bell dinged at the restaurant Dawn worked, ‘OUTLIER’, as she rushed in. She made it in time, and quickly clocked in. It seemed to just be here, and one other waitress this morning. More would come in as the day went on, but for now, just her and Sadie. Sadie was a bright girl, the same age as Dawn, and had invited Dawn to go out that night. [b “Hey Dawn! Good Morning! Did you check your calendar to see if you could go out tonight?”] Sadie asked, as there were no customers yet. [i “Oh, yeah, I’m free. I just need to find a way home.”] Dawn smiled lightly, her mind still on the male from earlier. [b “Awesome! You seem like your mind is somewhere? Everything okay?”] Sadie asked. Dawn hadn’t known Sadie for too long, so she hadn’t had a chance to scare her away yet, which caused Dawn to caution herself to make sure she didn’t. And friends told each other things, right? [i “Uh, yeah. I bumped into this guy on the street and-”] [b “OOOOH! So exciting! Wait, but you have a boyfriend. So that’s not as exciting…”] Sadie interjected. [i “Yeah, I just bumped into him. It just kinda spooked me this morning, that’s all.] Dawn finished. [b “Alright! Oh, customer! I call dibs!”] Sadie said, taking the first table of the day to her section. Dawn laughed, knowing she would have to quickly get her station ready for the next one.

[i “Thank you for coming to OUTLIER, have a great day! Take your time with this!”] Dawn said to her customers, as she handed the bill to her customers. [#19899a “Thank you Dawn. You were such a pleasure.”] her customers replied. Dawn smiled and headed off to the kitchen to grab food for her other table. It was already 4:45 pm, so her shift ended very soon. She continued to bring people more drinks, their food, dessert, and even sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to an adorable 5 year old little lady. The days like this always went by quickly, but the thought of the mysterious man was always in the back of her mind.

Dawn was a very experienced waitress, as it was the only job Daniel allowed her to have, a “womens” job, as he called it. He refused to let her have any job where she would make more money than him, but also she got physical tips, which he could control. She loved being a waitress, so it was okay for the time being. She always made decent tips, so she was able to save some that Daniel couldn’t take from her. She never knew why she hid some of the money from him, it just felt like something she had to do.

Dawn’s last table left, which ended up being the last table of the night, their earlier closing restaurant done for the day. The group of workers, about 5 or 6 of them now, started completing their assigned side work, which was finished relatively quickly. Dawn went into the bathroom at work, and added a bit more makeup to her simple makeup she had on for work. She added some smoky eye shadow and a winged eyeliner, and touched up her lip color for their excursion to the bar tonight. While Dawn wasn’t looking for anyone, the makeup she wore was for herself. Dawn was actually quite surprised Daniel didn’t want her to stay home, but she was happy he had plans with the boys, so she was able to go out tonight. But, considering the boys would be coming to their place, she would have quite a bit of cleaning to finish tonight.

Sadie bounced over to Dawn, smiling. [b “Are you ready? We are planning on walking, we are going to that new place, The Starfall Bar, down the street.”] Sadie smiled. [i “Yeah, I’m ready.”] Dawn replied, meeting up with the group. There was Sadie, Dawn, Josh, Erin, and Adam, and considering they were co-workers, they were okay men to talk to. Dawn sent the name of the bar and the co-workers she was going with to Daniel, as requested. He replied to Be Careful, but it seemed more demanding than caring, and that he would call her later. The group agreed to check in on each other every so often and entered the bar.

The Starfall Bar was decorated with twinkly lights, exposed light bulbs and walls of lights. It was quite picturesque, yet fun and filled with life. It wasn’t super filled, considering it was still early, but they were probably planning on staying for a while. Dawn walked to the bar, ordering a vodka lemonade, sitting on a barstool at the bar. Most guys knew her boyfriend by his big reputation around their small town, so they knew to be nice, but not too nice. She watched as her friends from work carelessly socialized with everyone, and she just sat, knowing this is what Daniel would have wanted.

[font "times new roman" The male broke out into a small smile as she seemed to blabber on. That was something he wasn't used too. He was used to people just shutting up. Dawn on the other hand, it was attractive and adorable all rolled into one. Something he never dreamed would happen. He looked down at the out stretched hand and shook her hand gently. [#8e8082 "It's a pleasure meeting you Dawn Matthews. Names Ridley Edwards"] he said with a warm smile. There was something there, something in her eyes that seemed to draw him in. The glasses made her look more innocent in a way, and he wanted nothing more than to just sweep the creature off her feet, and into his arms.]

[font "times new roman" He knew that wouldn't be the right way. Hell as far as he knew, the woman was spoken for. He shoved his hands back into his pockets and looked down at the ground. [#8e8082 "Again, I do apologize for running into you like I did."] he said with a small sheepish smile. He meant it too. He never meant to do something like that. He then ducked his head, and slipped past the woman. She seemed to be in a hurry anyway. He didn't want to make her any later than she was. He took a breath wishing he had gotten her phone number or something. She was different, and he couldn't place why. She seemed like the perfect person to really get to know.]

[font "times new roman" He had a feeling he would end up running into her again anyway. As he was walking, he spotted the bookshop up ahead, and he made his way there. He opened the door as soon as he got closer and stepped inside. The smell of coffee filled his nose, and he took a breath and let it out slowly. The smell was amazing, and one of his favorite things in the world. That's when a bubbly red head walked up to him, and slid her arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug. [b "I was hoping you'd come in!"] she grinned. The male looked down at her, and wrapped his arms around her hugging her back gently. [#8e8082 "You know I can't get enough of your damn coffee Jade"] he said with a grin.]

[font "times new roman" The woman grinned and kissed his cheek lightly. [b "You seem outta breath as well. What's going on?"] she asked him as she went to the counter, and rang up his coffee order. The male shrugged a bit as he pulled his wallet out, and she shook her head. [b "On the house Rid's"] she said as she went about making his coffee. The male shrugged and put his wallet back. [#8e8082 "Honestly, on the way here I ended up running into this really pretty creature, and I just feel bad for walking off like I did.. But I have a feeling she was in a hurry anyway"] he admitted. Jade looked over her shoulder at him and smirked a bit. [b "Did you get her name at least?"] she asked him.]

[font "times new roman" The male pulled one of the bar stools out and sat down. [#8e8082 "Dawn Matthews"] he said lightly. The red head nearly dropped the coffee cup as she heard the name. She shook her head as she finished his coffee. [b "I would forget about her all together. She's dating Daniel, and honestly it's not worth it. She's been with him the last couple of years, and I haven't seen the male more happy in his life. Just make sure you keep your distance, and you'll be okay"] she said. That seemed to put Ridley's mind spinning. What was wrong with her meeting someone new? So what if he was a male? He cocked his head to the side and locked eyes with Jade.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "Why are you warning me about something like that? Is he really an asshole? Or that possessive over someone?"] he asked her. Jade nodded lightly leaning against the counter. [b "I heard the last male that looked at Dawn funny, he got his face smashed in and honestly, I don't want to hear that you are in the hospital because of something like that. Don't think about getting to know her either. Daniel always finds shit out"] she said. Her bright green eyes went to the front of the store just then. [b "I'll talk to you later boo. I have work to do"] she said with a small smile. The male nodded watching her rush off.]

[font "times new roman" The warning Jade gave him, made him want to get to know Dawn even more. He sighed lightly as he picked up the coffee cup, lifted it to his lips and took a sip. The bitter taste hit his taste buds, and his mind wandered back to the beautiful creature. What was with this Daniel asshole anyway? He sighed lightly, wondering if it would be worth getting to know the other, or not. He sat there enjoying his coffee, thinking everything that Jade said over.]

Alone was all Dawn experienced growing up. Her mother passed away when she was 10, and her dad was gone all the time after that. He claimed to be going on “business trips” or “working late” but not coming home for weeks on end didn’t click. Her father sent her money once a month for food or anything she needed, but never any explanation about where he was or when he was coming home. All Dawn wanted was a connection with someone, anyone.

As she got older, friendships were hard. Dawn would scare everyone away by being clinging, or obsessed, when all she wanted was a connection. That was, until she met Daniel at 17. Daniel used to tell her she was beautiful, she was loved by him. He fed her lies about how everyone in the world would always be against her, and that he would always love her, no matter what. And Dawn ate that up. They quickly got into a relationship and then moved in together at age of 19, but it wasn’t all Dawn thought it would be.

[NOW-Five Years Later]

Dawn woke up early, Daniel asleep next to her. She was able to let the knot in her chest relax as he was still asleep. She carefully got out of bed, making sure not to wake him, getting woken up made Daniel very angry, and that was not what she wanted to do. She quietly made her way to the bathroom, grabbing a towel to get ready for her day. She stripped off the long sleeve shirt and shorts she wore to bed, and stared at herself in the mirror. She examined the bruises that had formed on her forearm, and one blackening on her shoulder. Her side was clearing up from a bruise from a couple of weeks ago, but was still painful to touch. Dawn claimed she was clumsy, but the bruises she received was from the male she slept next to and kissed every night.

Daniel was kind and gentle when they began their relationship, but Dawn learned that he was also violent and dangerous whenever he was angry or upset, which happened quite often, but even when he wasn’t. Daniel used Dawn as his own personal punching bag, taking all anger he had out on her. Dawn had just assumed this is what connection was, this is what people did when they were together.

Dawn turned on the warm water, sliding her slender figure into the shower, feeling the heat slowly take over her body. The heat made her bruises sting a bit, but it wasn’t too bad. She adjusted her body under the shower head, washing her hair and cleaning her body carefully. She got out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her frame, and went to the sink. She washed her face, applied moisturizer, and brushed her teeth. She brushed her hair out and pulled it into a small bun on top of her head while she put on a light face of makeup. She put on foundation, concealer on the bags under her eyes, a bit on bronzer and a light lip color. She let her hair down and got dressed quickly into a grey sweater and pair of jeans. She had to go to work soon for lunch, so she made sure she dressed appropriately.

As soon as Dawn was dressed, like clockwork, Daniel started waking up. Dawn grabbed her glasses and sid them on before quickly leaving, knowing his coffee needed to be started before he was awake. She quickly put on the coffee pot and made herself a cup of lavender vanilla tea.

Once his coffee was done, she added just the right amount of creamer and sugar and placed it in his hand as he walked by the kitchen. His hand was already out, expecting it to be there. He sipped his coffee, a pit formed in her stomach and her whole body tensed, worried it would taste wrong. [b “It’s fine. Calm the fuck down.”] Daniel told her, sitting down on the couch. The women’s body relaxed, [i “I have work today. I’m working until 5, and I think some of the girl’s are going out for a drink afterwards. Do you think I could go with them and you could pick me up? Walking home at night might be scary.”] Dawn asked. She had to let him know her whole day, otherwise he texted her obsessively. [b “Ugh, I’m hanging out with the boys tonight. Can’t you just fucking walk? Are your legs broken? Make sure you share your location with me, any funny business and I’ll go down there and make sure you don’t go out anymore.”] Daniel spat at her. [i “You're right, I shouldn’t have asked.”] Dawn whispered. [b “Make sure you make good tips today. I need some new shoes.”] Daniel replied, putting his feet on the coffee table. Daniel always took her tips when she got home, he managed most of her money, the money she didn’t hide from him anyway.

Dawn headed for the door. [i “I’ll see you tonight.”] she said, grabbing her bag and grabbing the door handle. She quickly felt something hard hit her back, as she saw a shoe fall. [b “Get over here and say goodbye. I don’t get a kiss or anything.”] Daniel yelled. Dawn rushed over, kissing his cheek. [i “Bye Daniel. I love you.”] Dawn said as she headed back to the door. [b “I love you forever, Dawn.”] he said as the door closed.

Dawn now had to run, trying to make it to work on time. She felt her body hit into something, or someone. She felt hands on her shoulders, stabilizing her as she found her footing, but flinched as he touched a sore spot on her shoulder. She looked up at the most gorgeous man she had seen in a long time. [i “Uhh. Oh, it’s fine. I should have looked where I was going. It was my fault anyway.”] she replied, adjusting the bag on her shoulder. She forgot that she was close to being late to work, and just wanted to talk to this very nice person ahead of her. [i “Dawn Matthews. That’s my name. I mean, duh, I didn’t have to tell you that it’s my name. It’s not like your stupid or anything. I’m sorry.”] she said, holding her hand out to shake his.

[font "times new roman" The yelling was getting too out of hand. Ridley was trying his hardest not to let it get to him, but what other choice did he have? Everything was falling apart, and his whole life was crashing down around him. Ever since his father started beating him when he was a little boy, he felt like he wasn't good enough. His mother wouldn't even stand up for him. He's on the brink of turning eighteen, and then he'll be able to break free of his parents for the rest of his life. He shook his head lightly as he looked towards the bedroom door. His parents were down stairs yelling once more, and he couldn't help but feel like it was his whole fault. In a way it could have been. He just didn't want them thinking bad about him.]

[font "times new roman" That's when he heard his father storming up the stairs towards his room. He started shaking, and wanted nothing more than to just escape through the window, and no longer be apart of this nightmare. That's when his door flew open and his father was standing right in the doorway. [b "What the fuck did you do? Did you really ruin a young woman's life by getting her pregnant?"] he snapped. Ridley was somewhat confused about that. [#8e8082 "What are you talking about?"] he asked. He meant it too, he didn't know what the hell his father was talking about. [b "You went and slept with Jennifer, and she's now fucking pregnant. Are you that fucking stupid?"] his father snapped.]

[font "times new roman" [#8e8082 "I haven't slept with anyone! I don't know where you are getting your information, but I haven't done anything you are accusing me of"] he said, trying to defend himself. His father shook his head, stormed into the room, and ripped him from the bed. [b "If you are going to sit there and lie to me, I'll make you tell me the truth"] he hissed. Ridley tried to fight back, but couldn't. His father was stronger than he was. That's when he felt the fist to his face. His father was hitting him once more. The pain shot though his body, and he let out a cry. His mother was standing at the bottom of the stairs looking up at them both. That's when Ridley was thrown down the stairs, and his head hit the floor when he landed.]

[font "times new roman" He let out a moan of pain, and rolled onto his side. That's when he saw his mother. She was walking away from him. He wanted to yell out for her help, but knew it wouldn't do much good. She never helped him and she never would. His father was on top of him once more beating the living shit out of him. He ended up blacking out a while later, glad that he didn't have to feel the pain anymore. At least for a little while...]

[font "times new roman" It's been ten years since that night. The night Ridley almost lost his life. The moment he had gotten out of the hospital, he decided that he was finally done. He was done with his father using him as a punching bag, and he was tired of his mother looking the other way and not protecting her only son. So the moment that he turned eighteen was the moment he moved out. He canceled his own birthday party, and went and got an apartment a couple cities away. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. He didn't have to worry about his parents being so close either, and neither of them knew where he was. He made sure of that.]

[font "times new roman" Watching as the sun rose made the male feel slightly better. He felt like he didn't have to worry about anything, and he felt like he didn't have to please everyone around him. He had the day off from work, and he was going to take advantage of that. He wanted to enjoy the day, and that's just what he was going to do. He pushed himself up and off the bed, and made his way to the bathroom. He stripped out of his boxers, and threw them into the hamper in the bathroom. He then climbed into the shower, turned on the water and let out a low hiss at the freezing water. He stood there and waited for it to heat up a bit more, before turning his back to the water.]

[font "times new roman" He was more awake now. He hurried and washed his hair and body, and then shut the water off a couple minutes later. He climbed out, wrapped a towel around his waist and walked into the bedroom. He found some clean boxers, and jeans, and a black t-shirt. He dried himself off, and then got dressed. He sat on the edge of the bed and put his socks and shoes on. He then pushed himself up and grabbed his wallet, phone, and apartment keys. He then went and brushed his teeth, and added gel to his hair, and then was ready to go.]

[font "times new roman" He walked out of the small apartment, closed and locked the door behind him and turned around. He saw one of his neighbors and waved towards her. She waved back, and went back to working in the garden. He walked down the sidewalk shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked. The day was nice, and he wasn't in the mood to be cooped up inside a car. He didn't live too far from town anyway. As he was walking he looked up at the blue sky, and wasn't really paying much attention because he thought he was the only one on the sidewalk.]

[font "times new roman" That's when he ran into a smaller frame, and his hands went out and wrapped around the woman's shoulders. [#8e8082 "I am so sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Are you alright?"] he asked her. He made sure she was steady enough before he let her go. He then shoved his hands into his pockets, and waited for the beautiful creature to say something.]
