Jack couldn't help chuckling at her words. [b "Thought there'd be thundering and lightening?"] Corny but he had seen SO many of those movies and shows where when a fear was in the open something happened. That and he was again teasing her.
"Dinner would be good. But how 'bout you two just go? Celebrate being married and I'll cath up with y'all tomorrow?" The older man asked.
"The earth didn't rumble or anything...we still feel the same...huh," she said and kissed his cheek. "Some dinner sounds good. What do you say, Bobby?"
She'd still just say Bobby. He was both.
If he was nervous, Jackson tried to keep them at bay. He had learned over the years to wear the mask and to not show what he really felt. Bobby hadn't been surprised and even was a wittness. He made some jokes, but in the end told them both how happy he was for them.
When the vows were said, Jack had also needed the prompting for the kiss. Part of him couldn't believe all this was real. Felt like a dream.
[b "So.. this as scary as you thought, darlin'?]
The moment they arrived she knew she had to prepare. She went to find a casual dress along with light accessories. Finding Princess Anne's Court House was a lucky find.
Even Bobby didn't seem surprised they chose this and even served as a witness. Wearing the light yellow lace dress that spoke simple and country. Outside in the courtyard against the brownstone building the vows were exchanged.
She kissed him when prompted feeling more anxiety than she expected.
[b "Courthouses aren't too bad. But up to you how we do it."] Jackson said. And he did give a nod to let her know that he had heard. [b "Better to get it now. You know the others will want theirs too."]
Jack returned her kiss and did watch her go. Being alone, Jack left the "box" and decided to get some of the coffee. Zombie was a good way name for him until he had caffeine.
Iris laughed in amusement.
"Maybe...except We'll need to use a courthouse," she said and propped herself up. "I'm going to shower before everyone wakes up."
Kissing him softly she maneuvered out of the box.
Never had he been so comfortable with anyone before. Never had it been like a missing piece had been found. They were so different and yet worked. Was that an irony? Even if it was..well he couldn't say he regretted anything.
[b "So we're doing a basic Vegas wedding? Should we find a place to gamble too?"] Iris had made the musing and he had to give her a little shit over it. It was what he did, but she gave it back well enough.
Iris smiled satisfied wrapping her arms around him. How the hell they work she didn't know since she required space and these bunks wiged her out.
"Great, karaoke and a wedding, we might as well be in Vegas minus the gambling." She mused and closed her eyes.
He hadn't been expecting her to come see him, it had been welcomed. Jack did hate being alone but was used to it. Slowly his fingers combed her hair and he listened to her words.
[b "Lets do it. It's a nice place."] He said, thoughtfully though also still a little groggy.
"Then we got a deal..." Iris placed her hand over his.
In the day and a half trip when sleeping in a confined space got to her she began to think on marriages. Before they arrived while the others still slept she joined him in the bunk resting her head on his chest.
"I have an idea. Let's get married at Virginia Beach. We both are skittish about the idea so let's do it."
He chuckled when she had pointed out how she felt about singing. [b "Doesn't matter at all. This I want to do as Jack and just have some fun. So this isn't for anyone but us. And you're right, we both do love words just use 'em in different ways."] Never really had he thought about it that way. But it was true.
[b "Still sounds like hell."] The man found himself saying thoughtfully.
"Hope you're not expecting much on singing. No one's ears are going to bleed but no one will be amazed, either. Doesn't matter, does it? We both love words just use it in different ways," she looked to him hopefully. She cared for Jack the person not Jackson Maine the musician.
She shrugged. "It's okay, it's nothing major that will need to be worked on."
[b "You know wouldn't wonder about that. And just think it'll be nice to have ya singing with me. Just a night out..maybe even call it a date?"] Jack asked her with a smile, the familiar sparkle playing in blue eyes.
He listened to her next words and sighed. [b "One of those kind of moms...Now I get the anxiety and being scared to do the whole performing thing. Sorry, baby girl.."] He said quietly. Now he got why she had freaked out so badly.
"I usually keep my promises. We can do that and since this isn't just being sprung on me...I'll do a song with you and make people wonder why you're with me," Iris chuckled. "And I accept the apology meal."
She thought on this for a moment. "Mom's flower family- females have flower names- are these perfectionists. Mom tried everything to get me to bw this dance or pageant child and upset when I didn't. Since then it's been public anxiety."
[b "So you're going to be wanting to kill me. Next stop is still Virginia Beach..but this was a bride. You said if I didn't make you sing with me tonight you would sing. So wanted a karaoke night.."] Jackson said, taking a sip from the soda that he had gotten.
Finally he was telling what he had been up to. But more so, he just wanted to take her out.
