[center [font "tempus sans itc" Xiomara had always been both a land, and sea creature. It didn't matte that her mother was part Siren, and her father part human. She would be able to walk on land, as well as live in the sea. One night a horrible storm hit the bay of Maine, and [b Your Name Here] had been out in it. She'd been trying to tie to boats to the dock, when a bolt of lightening struck, breaking the boards [b Your Name Here] was standing on, and she was thrown into the water. Xiomara was close enough that she saved the woman, and pulled her to shore. She was a deadly creature, but she had her father's feelings. [b Your Name Here] was someone special, and Xiomara wasn't about to let her die. At least not yet anyway, she had other plans for her.]]

[center [font "tempus sans itc" When the storm had passed and Xiomara was on land for a while, she felt like she had to see where her father grew up. She wanted to see what the land had to offer. Meanwhile [b Your Name Here] was still trying to figure out how she had been saved from the deadly waters. She remembered seeing a woman not much older than her, but she felt like it had been a dream. A deadly dream, that didn't want her remembering anything at all. So as she was trying to wrap her mind around everything, Xiomara was making herself at home on land. She finally came across where she was born, and she felt like she was at home finally.]]

[center [font "tempus sans itc" As the day's passed, Xiomara felt like she could make herself a home here on land. She could walk both land and sea, and she was worried about [b Your Name Here]. As they are both in town one day, is when they ran into each other. Just one look at Xiomara, and [b Your Name Here] knew who she was. She was the woman that had saved her a couple of days ago. What'll happen when these two make a bond? Will Xiomara be able to hide her secret? Will [b Your Name Here] be able to handle falling in love with a Siren? Or will everything come crashing down around them both? You will never know, unless you join [b [i A Siren's Tale]].]]

[tab ] It was one of the worst storms Mila had ever experienced.

[tab ] Sure, there had always been storms on the coast, and there had most definitely been worse storms, but she had never been caught out in one quite so quickly. Mila and her friends had been out sailing, celebrating the start of summer and the break from college, when the clouds had started to roll in. The storms here came in and left quickly, but that didn't mean that any of them wanted to get soaked on a sailboat and then have to hear the hell they'd get when they got home.

[tab ] When they got back to the docks, the water had been getting a little choppy, which was manageable but not a great sign. As soon as they were docked she sent her friends up and to shore, assuring them that she [i "got this"] and she'd meet them in a minute. Rain? No problem. Her mop of hair blowing into her face? Annoying. She tried to tie her hair back in a ponytail but the elastic broke and she didn't have another one, causing her to grumble and just try to secure the boat the rest of the way as swiftly as possible.

[tab ] She finally had it done, but by then the winds and storm had become much worse, and she cursed the cheap moor-spot that was out so far from the land. Walking as quickly as she dared along the docks, she started heading back, slipping occasionally from the sprays of water that had soaked the dock and covered it almost entirely. From the corner of her eye, she spotted a young woman with dark hair and piercing eyes, and as she turned to get a better look she found herself suddenly thrown off of the dock from a strong wave, knocking her breath from her due to the unexpected lurch of her body hitting the water, and took in a breath of seawater-- exactly what she never wanted to experience.

[tab ] She couldn't quite remember what had happened next-- she felt a weight, like the support of someone holding her tightly around her torso, the sand on her skin and her head felt like it was pounding as she coughed water out of her lungs. Before she knew it she was being scooped up and taken to safety, by what would later be identified for her as her friend Azurel. But he wasn't who had saved her from the water.
[hr ]
[tab ] They'd made her stay the night in the hospital. The family doctor that they had known for years had called her mother, and between the two of them she was spending the night under surveillance on the off chance she like-- hell, she didn't know? Drowned on dry land? Whatever it was, she at least was able to be warm and dried off there, and got some sleep in exchange for the embarrassment. She didn't even live under the same roof as her, but she was certain that even being across the country much less across town her mother would find a way to keep being overprotective from a distance.

[tab ] It was a relief when her mother told her that [i [b "If you dare step foot in the restaurant today for work so help me god you will never hear the end of it so you better darn well take it easy."]] Her mother was by no means a religious woman-- she more liked to drop the word 'god' occasionally as if to call down some unspoken power of motherly wrath to scare her children. She was also certain that if she didn't visit the restaurant at least once then her mother would be even more worried. But, with those words and her doctor's bill of clean health, she went home to take a shower and change clothes, as well as to get ahold of her friends and tell them she wasn't dead.

[tab ] It was about ten a.m. when she was finally back to normal, making her way across town in the fresh sunshine of a post-storm day to see if she could assess the damage at the docks, when she thought she spotted a flash of dark hair again from the corner of her eyes.

[font "tempus sans itc" The water was choppy, and the female was coming up from the deep waters. Her father was wanting to see her again, and she wasn't about to upset him. Since she found out she could walk among the land, and live among the sea, she was taking advantage of it. As the woman moved through the water, her hair flowing behind her, she saw the streak of lightening, and her heart hammered inside of her chest. Was this really happening right now? A huge storm rolled in, right when she was about about to break the surface.]

[font "tempus sans itc" The moment her head broke the surface, was when she realized how bad the storm really was. She brushed her hair out of her face, and looked around. That's when she spotted another female on a deck. The way her body was lurching, made Xiomara's heart pound. That's when the lightening struck. The streak hit the deck, and the woman went flying into the water. Xiomara was already moving towards the woman. She ducked under the water once more, and she moved a lot easier when she did. That's when she spotted the woman sinking.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She kicked her tail out behind her, and she dove after the woman. She grabbed the woman under the armpits, and she then went back to the surface. She moved towards the shore, which was quite a chore. She hadn't had this much of a struggle before, and she wasn't about to break stride. She felt the sand under her belly, and she had a harder time pulling the woman with her. That's when she lifted the woman up, and threw her onto the shore. She then dragged herself up onto the sand beside her.]

[font "tempus sans itc" The storm was still raging, and her heart was hammering inside of her chest. She dragged the woman farther up onto the shore, so that way she wouldn't be dragged back into the waves. The thunder, and rain was shocking. She shook her head lightly, and looked down at the woman. She wasn't that much older than her. She was beautiful too. She wiped the woman's hair out of her eyes, and then heard people's voices. Her head flew up, and she barely had time to hide. Not many people know about her kind, and she wanted to keep it that way.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [b "There she is! I don't know how the fuck she got here, but she's safe!"] a male yelled. Xiomara was pretty hidden, and she watched the whole thing unfold before her eyes. She watched as the male picked up the woman, like she weighed nothing, and carried her off. She let out a small sigh, and was startled when someone touched her shoulder. She was waiting to go back to the water, but an older woman was behind her, and put her finger to her lips, letting her know to keep quiet.]

[font "tempus sans itc" That's when the woman walked over, and started trying her tail. She started changing back into a woman, and it took a while, but she was fully human now, and naked. The older woman wrapped the towel around her, and helped Xiomara to her feet. [b "Come with me child. You shouldn't be out here"] she cooed. Xiomara just nodded her head lightly, letting the woman lead her away from the shore. She looked over her shoulder, and wished she hadn't left the sea after all. She wouldn't be here right now.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She was worried about the human female, but that would have to wait till morning. The older woman led her to her home, and she helped get Xiomara dried off, and she clicked her tongue. [b "Your father told me you might be coming. You will be staying here for a little while. Let's get you to bed"] she said, and led her down the hall to a bedroom. [#D7ACAC "T-thank y-you"] she managed to say. The older woman shook her head lightly, and smiled warmly towards the female. [b "No need to thank me child"] she cooed.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Whoever this woman was, she was kind. She led Xiomara into a bedroom, helped her get into bed, and then tucked her in. [b "Get some sleep, and then you and I will go into town tomorrow and get some shopping done."] she said backing out of the room, leaving Xiomara alone. The woman sighed lightly when she door was closed. She rolled onto her side, and looked out the window. She felt like she was lost, but her father trusted this woman, so she might as well too. She laid there wondering about the woman she had saved.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Maybe tomorrow she would run into her. That brought a small smile to her face, and she snuggled down into the blankets, and let the sound of rain lull her to sleep. Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough.]
