[center [pic https://imgur.com/YWYYVB3.png]][center [font "Serif" He stood in front of the flower shop, gazing in from the outside. His eyes met a set of pink Daffodils, Julie's favorite flower. He was contemplating even getting them. Would it be seen as inappropriate or a kind favor? A welcome gift, perhaps. Or a nice congrats to getting engaged. He wasn't sure but, he ended up getting them for her anyway.]]

[center [font "Serif" He had received several texts from his mother that morning and even the previous night. [i Are you coming to the house? Are you going to see Julie? You know she'd like you to be here, engaged or not. You two are best friends. The least you can do is be here for her. She asked specifically for you to come. I really hope that you do.] It had disturbed him late at night. He absolutely loved Julie. He wanted to see her happy but thought he had more time before....well, before this.]]

[center [font "Serif" He entered his mother's house, hearing her voice through his ears. Her sweet tone was so known, it brought a smile to his face. He entered the kitchen, her eyes were so fixated on the Daisies that she hardly noticed him. His mother met his eyes as she greeted him. [b "Good morning. You really think I'd miss this girl being in town?"] He choked softly, noticing Julie staring. His appearance had changed a bit yet, Julie still looked like Julie. A few highlights in her hair were new but, it was Julie.]]

[center [font "Serif" He entered the kitchen, coming around to his mother. He planted a kiss on her cheek and then moved next to Julie. She smelled like ripe peaches and it was a warming smell. He laid the flowers on the counter, giving her a grin. [b "These are for you. I couldn't come without a big congratulations to the newly engaged lady!"] His smile cracked but it remained. Newly engaged, just not to him.]]

[center [font "Serif" Julie still hadn't said anything, she seemed like she was more so in shock that he had actually shown up. Luckily, his mother was there to bring the silence to an end.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Julie got me some daises! Aren't they lovely? She's putting them in a vase for me." He looked at the crystal vase and at the daises. He grinned widely.]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "She always treated you right, huh ma?"] He grinned, his mother smiling in return.]]

[center [font "Serif" "She sure does, Brian. If only I had gotten flowers from you," She gave him a small scowl before changing the subject. "We were just talking about you before you entered. Julie had a few questions to ask you. Maybe I should leave the room, give you two some privacy." She grinned, getting up from her chair and exiting to the living room.]]

[center [font "Serif" Brian took her seat at the bar, gazing upon Julie. Her natural beauty, she barely had to try. Her eyebrows lightly filled in, a little mascara and a gentle pink lipstick. Perfection.]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "So, am I on Jeopardy? Shoot me with these questions!"]]]

[right [pic https://imgur.com/XEqhEtw.png]][center [font "Serif" Julie breathed in deeply, standing in front of the white door of the one story home she called her second home. She hadn't been back in town for about three years and here she was. Barely made any phone calls, barely wrote to anyone. Her life had become so busy and yet, she was hoping they would open their arms willingly.]]

[center [font "Serif" She curled her fingers into a fist and knocked three times on the door. She gripped the daisies in her other hand, forming a tight smile on her face. The door swung open and she was immediately grabbed into a hug. "Julie!!!" The smell of Versace bright crystal filled her nostrils, just like it did so many years ago. The woman's dark brown hair had turned into an almost salt and pepper shade.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Forgive me, sweetie. I didn't have a chance to dye my hair or put a little makeup on. These wrinkles just snuck right up on me!" Brian's mother giggled, looking at the flowers. Her eyes went sad, but happy sad. She placed her hand over her heart, "Oh my gosh, don't tell me those are for me" She squealed as Julie handed them over.]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "They sure are, Mom."] She smiled happily, enjoying that she was happy to see her. [b "I couldn't come and not get you your favorite flowers!"] She laughed as the older woman ushered her in.]]

[center [font "Serif" Nothing changed in the house at all, besides a few trinkets here and there to help her get around easier. Julie was getting older and so was Jay. The two entered the kitchen, where she sat the flowers down on the marble counter tops. She took out her cutting scissors and began searching for a vase. Julie walked around the side, [b "Oh, please. Let me help you."] She said, getting a glare from Jay.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Oh, Julie. You always were so persistent." She laughed, walking around to the bar stools. She slide one out, sitting upon it. "The vases are above the fridge. Get the crystal one, your flowers are perfect." She grabbed them, sniffing them with a smile.]]

[center [font "Serif" Julie pulled the little step stool out, climbing it to get the crystal vase out of the cabinet. [b "So, is Brian coming?"] She asked, looking back at the woman. Jay shrugged her shoulders.]]

[center [font "Serif" "I'm not sure. He didn't tell me. We didn't really talk about you. I think he's hurt it's been so long. He'll come around. You're his best friend, you're getting married. Don't worry about it."]]

[center [font "Serif" She sat the vase onto the counter, unwrapping the flowers. She started clipping about an inch off the flowers. [b "I just hope he comes. It's been so long and...I really do hate myself for not calling or sending more letters. I hope he can forgive me...I'd like him to be my man of honor, ya know? I need him to help me with this wedding planning. Do you think he'd be down for it?"]]]

[center [font "Serif" His mother listened intently, nodding. She shrugged her shoulders, smiling a bit. "Well, you can always ask him right now." She said, motioning to the doorway.]]

[center [font "Serif" Julie turned her head, seeing Brian standing there with pink Daffodils, her absolute favorite flower. It almost made her tear up. He looked the same except that his beard was much more full. When she left, he had only a little stubble on his upper lip. His arms were tighter in his sweater. He looked just as handsome as he did back then. His mother must of noticed the long pause between them as she spoke up.]]

[center [font "Serif" Good morning, Brian. We weren't sure if you were going to show up or not. Are those for Julie?"]]

[center [font "Serif" He gripped his beard, eyebrows furrowed as he skimmed over the letter. He couldn't help but feel the sting of his heart as he read the words.]]

[google-font "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Satisfy"][satisfy My Dearest Brian,]

[center [size15 [google-font "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Satisfy"][satisfy I am sorry it has taken me so long to write to you again. I believe the last letter I sent, I was heading off to college. Well, I am still in college, half way through actually! I plan to open up my own bakery, thought about back in town? I'm excited to hear about what you've been up to for the past year and a half. Something good, I hope!]]]

[center [size15 [google-font "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Satisfy"][satisfy I guess I should get right down to the nit and gritty?! I told you how I was dating this guy. At the time, I really didn't think it was going to lead anywhere. I was completely clueless. I was so wrong, Brian! He turned out to be the most sweetest, down to Earth kind of guy, besides you of course! We got a place together and it's been great. It's been so great that well..he proposed! That is right, your best friend is getting marrried! So exciting right?!?]]]

[center [size15 [google-font "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Satisfy"][satisfy Brian, I know I haven't talked to you. In my eyes, you're still my best friend. I'm coming to town on the 25th. I'll be stopping by your moms first thing in the morning. I do hope you come...I miss you.]]]

[center [font "Serif" That was that. Julie, sweet and innocent Julie was getting married to some guy she dated for a year. Brian was happy for her but yet, so ticked off. He had been there for her for years. Through all the breakups, all the makeups, the family drama, everything. Yet, she picked some idiot she's only known for a year and a half? What kind of bullshit is that?]]

[center [font "Serif" Despite how mad he was, she was going to be here first thing tomorrow morning. She was still his best friend and he couldn't believe when she said, "In my eyes, you're still my best friend." Like that ever changed for him. She remained that best friend, not only that but someone he cherished.]]

[center [font "Serif" Brian had fallen in love with Julie in the 6th grade. They had been friends since the 4th grade. He wasn't sure what shifted. Maybe maturity? Age? Or just how much closer they got after 5th grade. The two depended on each other immensely. There was one time, he had tried to make a move. They got silly drunk and his confidence was high. It ended with him kissing the ground. So, not so well.]]

[center [font "Serif" He sighed, heading upstairs. The frustration he felt was real. There were a lot of emotions running through him but, his best friend was getting married and she wanted him there. It seemed almost wrong to say no.]]

[center _]
[right [pic https://imgur.com/XEqhEtw.png]] [center [font "Serif" She smiled in the mirror, curling her hair. She scrunched it up, spraying a bit of hairspray. Maybe a bit too much because her fiance came into the bathroom and immediately started coughing. [b "Oh, shit. I'm sorry, babe."] She said, waving her hand around to diffuse the smell.]]

[center [font "Serif" "No, no. It's okay." He said, in between coughs. "I knew what I was getting myself into when I proposed." He said, causing her to blush.]]

[center [font "Serif" The two had been engaged for at least four months. Kevin got down on one knee on Clearwater beach and asked her to marry him. She squeeled and said yes, of course! As much as she wanted to run off and tell people, something kept her back. For those four months, Kevin begged her to tell her family and those back home. Instead, she kept it hidden and didn't tell anyone for awhile. Kevin began doubting her love, thus initiated her sending the letter to Brian.]]

[center [font "Serif" Her life got busy and she ended up neglecting her communications with Brian. There were a few texts but no phone calls and no long, detailed letters like when she first moved away. So much had happened in her life, one letter wasn't going to happen. Through that time, she prayed every night that he may of sent her a letter on his own. Sadly, it never came.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Hello? H-Hello? Hang on," The booming voice said through the phone, shuffling happening. "Julie, that you, hun? Long time, no speak!" She boomed again, her laughter contagious.]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "Yes, yes. It's me! Sorry, it's been so long. Gosh, has life been so busy. It's good to hear your voice!"] She exclaimed, shutting the book in front of her to fully concentrate on the conversation.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Yours too, sweetheart. You know who else would love to hear your voice? Brian. He's been asking if I've heard from you."]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "Oh, well...ain't that sweet, I suppose."] She nervously laughed a bit. [b "I guess I've been avoiding him. I've got some pretty big and shocking news, Momma Jay."] She said, gazing down at the square shaped diamond on a gold band.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Oh, my gosh. You're going to tell him you love him! I knew you alwa--" Julie cut her off right then and there.]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "I'm engaged. I'm getting married. And not to Brian."] She said, sternly. Brian was a friend, a brother even. The love she had for him was deep but, different.]]

[center [font "Serif" Silence remained, she could hear the breathing of his mother. "Ah, yes. Very well then. I hope I get to at least see this fellow."]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "That's actually why I wanted to talk to you. I was going to ask Brian to be my Man of Honor but also be the one to walk me down the aisle...since, ya know."] Her voice trailed off, losing focus. [i Cut it out, Julie. Get back on track!]]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "I wanted to come down March 25th, see everyone and visit. Just a good catch up time."] She explained, crossing her leg over the other and picking her nail with her thumb.]]

[center [font "Serif" "That'd be great. I'll let Brian know--"]]

[center [font "Serif" [b "I actually am sending him a personal letter. I want to tell him myself but phone calls just aren't working out right now."] She could hear the uncertainty in his mothers voice.]]

[center [font "Serif" "Well, alright, babygirl. If that's what you want to do." She seemed to follow through. "I'll leave you to it then. Can't wait to see you. Buh-bye." She hung up immediately.]]

[center [font "Serif" Julie sat back in the chair, sighing. It shouldn't of been that stressful, yet it was. That wasn't even half of the surprises she was going to drop.]]
