[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow was still looking at the box on the bed when she found herself lost in though. She took the dress out of the box and stared at it for a moment, remembering what she had looked like when she had seen herself in in. The knock at the door startled her but then she laughed to herself and shook her head. She moved the dress, hanging in the wardrobe and closed it just in time for her door to open.
Willow turned to see Justin and she smiled towards him as he neared her, placing his arms around her in a way that brought her nothing but comfort. [b “Of course I wasn’t running away. I just didn’t want my dress to spend too long trapped in a box. It needs to breathe.”] She said with a laugh as she pulled back from him and look towards him, knowing now was a good time for the two to talk about what they had avoided until now.
[b “You know…tomorrow when we are married, we share a bed and…ourselves with each other. Believe me when I say this but there is nothing I want more than to be united with you in that way…but you know that it’s hard to get hold of any birth control here and what does exist is completely unreliable. Back home I had contraception but I ran out a couple of days ago…I didn’t think I would need to bring it with me.”] She swallowed for a moment and then continued to talk. [b “If we give ourselves to each other we both need to be prepared that we cannot control what happens after.”]
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe smiled, happy to know that Willow had found something that suited her and that Anastasia had enjoyed her afternoon. It had been an eventful day up to this point and tomorrow would be equally as eventful and he was excited about the four of them becoming more of a family.
[b “It might surprise you to know that we were actually discussing children and the future…granted there was scotch involved but I assure you, our discussions can be just as deep and meaningful as that of women.”] He said with a laugh, pulling the woman into her arms and placing a kiss upon her lips as he swayed with her.
He placed his hand near her stomach and whispered in her ear. [b “I do hope that we create a life together soon.”]
Justin nodded along and watched Willow, pausing and laughing a little,
“Alright, alright. I won’t come peek.” He smiled and watched Jobe and Anastasia. He grinned a little and went upstairs, knocking on Willow’s door.
“I promise not to look and this is your warning to hide it!” He laughed a little and waited a few seconds allowing her time to make sure her dress was hidden. He pushed the door open.
“I thought you were running away from me, Hm?” He said to her quietly and wrapped his arms around her.
“What’s on your mind?” He asked her gently and watched her, not wanting to miss her expression.
Anastasia kissed Jobe gently.
“Very. I think Justin will adore the dress as much as Willow does! It is beautiful, it suits her so well” she giggled and watched Justin go, raising an eyebrow and looking back to Jobe.
“And what did you two talk about whilst your lovely ladies were off shopping?” She asked him. She often did wonder about what men spoke about when women couldn’t hear. Most likely scotch, perhaps hunting or sport or something like that.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow found herself feeling more and more excited about the prospect of getting married to Justin. Today he proposed and tomorrow they would be married and the quick nature of it did not seem to matter to her. She just wanted to be with him. When she emerged, the dressmaker was already boxing both dresses. She hadn’t seen Anastasia’s but she knew that she would look beautiful.
She thanked the dressmaker and the two made their way back to the carriage. [b “I can hardly believe it.”] She said with a smile. Soon enough they were back home and she smiled towards Justin, beaming at the idea of becoming his wife.
[b “I’m just...”] She held her box up and smiled, indicating that she needed to take her dress upstairs and she moved to her room, placing the box on her bed and she took a few deep breaths. She was extremely nervous and she just needed a minute to breathe. [b “Mrs Gallway.”] She whispered to herself with a smile on her face.
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] [b “Well that is different. I do think it’s sad that we are not allowed to witness the birth of our children. It doesn’t make sense to me but we must abide by these rules.”] He shook his head and wondered about the future. [b “Well marriage and family is certainly different...not necessarily worse or better. I’m not sure if it was doubt I saw. If it is so different in the future then Willow has more of a choice in how and when she gets pregnant. Here it’s pure chance.”]
No sooner than an hour later the ladies returned home and he stood to greet his wife with a smile and a kiss. [b “I trust you had a successful trip?”] He said, noticing the smile on both of their faces.
Justin thought for a while as he sat with Jobe.
“Children and pregnancy is a lot different in the future.” He remarked with a small laugh.
“Men can be with their wives or partners with they give birth, it’s encouraged actually. We are used to waiting a while and we can plan children, take certain uh medicines and stuff that stop it happening.” He said to Jobe.
“I would love children but Willow looked so doubtful when Anastasia brought it up. He sighed quietly,
“Of course I wouldn’t push her into it.” He smiled to Jobe.
“We have plenty of time.” He assured.
Anastasia smiled to the dressmaker,
“Just pick something for me, if this is how you make Willow look then I trust your instinct!” She laughed and looked Willow over. She was so glad Willow liked it and honestly she could see why!
“Come on!” She said once their dresses were boxed nearly, a deep amethyst dress for Anastasia to compliment Willow.
Anastasia got into the carriage.
“I can’t believe you’re going to be married tomorrow!” She laughed.
“Two weddings in a week!” She beamed as they made their way home.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] The moment she saw Anastasia wipe at her eyes, she felt the need to do the same. She had never quite understood why women get emotional over such things but she had found herself crying over a wedding dress twice this week. Only this time it was her own dress and she was delighted to hear that Anastasia loved the dress as much as she did.
Willow nodded and wiped at her eyes. [b “I do…I love it.”] She said with a smile and looked down at the soft satin dress that seemed to take to her body like fluid. [b “Do you want to find yourself something to wear?”] She asked as she moved back out of the room to change back into her clothes so that the dress could be boxed up.
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe laughed and shook his head. [b “You seem surprised…I’m not.”] He said simply and then let out a sigh. [b “It’s going to strange around here when there is nothing left to celebrate…although I do hope that the house will be full of children someday soon.”] He said with a smile, wondering if that was something Justin wanted too.
[b “I meant mine and Anastasia’s children of course. I would not want to assume. I’m not sure how things are done where you are from.”] He said as he lowered himself back into a seat, wondering how the women were getting on.
Justin smiled softly to the man. It was oddly romantic and he was glad they had gotten together.
“My mother used to say when I was a boy, you can change your stars.” He commented and thought back. His mother had been a sweet and loving woman, patient to the end.
“Hm?” He sighed and nodded,
“I know, I know. And I do want her to be my wife more than anything on this planet. I would die for her if I had to.” He remarked and thought,
“And she agreed my wife. A beautiful, smart and charming woman agreed to be my wife.” He mused quietly as if still stunned by it. Willow did things to him that even science couldn’t explain and honestly it was magical to be put under her spell.
Anastasia smiled as she watched Willow be carted off. The dressmaker knew what she was doing and Anastasia positively squealed when she saw Willow.
“Good God! You look amazing!” She said happily and looked her over. Everything just fit her so sublimely and it reflected her character, subtle but beautiful! She had wipe at her eyes because Willow looked like an Angel sent by God himself.
“You look phenomenal!” She said to her and she stood to look at her.
“Do you like it?!” She asked and smiled.
“You look absolutely ethereal!”
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow smiled towards Anastasia for a moment before the woman beckoned her forward so that she could take her measurements and started to bring out a few dresses.
[i “I think with your complexion, satin is the way to go. The ivory would look beautiful against your skin.”] She held up a dress to her face and smiled. [i “Ahh you see. Perfect. I would like you to try this one on.”] She handed her the dress and Willow moved to a separate room to change. This dress was a very tight fit, one that showed the contours not her body well. It had a dipped bodice that met in the shape of a v below her naval and had a beautiful pattern stitched along that’s section. The tops came into a beautiful shape across her chest, a jewel resting neatly in the middle where it seems to hold together the material that formed the short sleeves. It was a beautiful dress and she felt nervous when she emerged from the room.
[i “Ah you will be needing these.”] She said as she handed her a pair of beautiful satin gloves and pulled them onto her arms. Willow looked and Anastasia for some kind of expression.
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe figured there was not harm in a second glass of scotch so he poured them another one while he contemplated Justin’s question. [b “Never in truth. I was brought up by my father and he taught me never to give up on the things I want, especially the things that make me truly happy. He always held regret for allowing his parents to arrange his marriage and he said he did not want the same for me. I loved Anastasia for the longest time and I honestly never saw myself marrying another. She is my world.”]
Jobe smiled and shook his head at the man as if reading his thoughts. [b “You should spend less time with your regrets and might have beens and concentrate of the future you have decided to make for yourself here. You will be Willow’s husband tomorrow. Surely that supersedes everything.”]
Justin smiled a little,
“Were you ever like that with Anastasia? Did you ever try to just- forget your feelings and move on?” He asked Jobe. It would be understandable if he had, especially given Anastasia had been so stuck in her ways and unwilling to break the rules society had laid out for them.
It was very strange to think of how things could have been so different because Justin would never have made the move on Willow if it had been in their time. He would have kept brushing her off or ignoring her despite everything because he was a workaholic. He knew now how much of a mistake that would have been for both of them.
Anastasia stared at Willow,
“I’m not sure I would want Jobe present. I mean.... birth can be horrifying.” She laughed a little and looked to the dressmaker.
“We need your expert eye! You did wonders with me and I’d ask you do the same with my friend!” She said and looked to Willow as she took a seat.
Whether or not Willow wanted a huge ceremony or a quiet one, Anastasia knew she would steal the show and quite right, too! It was her and Justin’s day. She watched Willow and smiled as the dressmaker worked her magic and took measurements and all sorts! Willow and Justin deserved happiness, of course, just as much as anyone else but they deserved every blessing out there because they had been like Angels to her and Jobe.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow smiled towards the woman, glad that she seemed to understand her worries. While she knew that she wasn’t alone, there was something terrifying about the idea of family when it had never been an option before. Before her work was all that mattered.
[b “Well if it gives you any comfort, things definitely change in the future. Men are far more knowledgeable about pregnancy and they see it more like a process a couple goes through together, although it’s not as though they have to give birth to the child...”] She laughed and shook her head for a minute. [b “Back home the father of the child usually goes into the room with the mother. I’m not sure I could go through that alone.”]
When the carriage stopped she stepped out and the two made their way towards the same shop they got Anastasia’s dress from and she nodded. [b “I’m completely sure.”] The dress maker looked up and smiled towards the two women.
[i “Back so soon?”] She said as she eyed Willow and looked down at her finger. [i “I just knew that I would be seeing you.”]
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] It made sense to Jobe in the end. He supposed that if he was in a similar situation he wouldn’t want to be surrounded by strangers. He would be content with just getting married to the woman he was in love with. He had quite a lot of respect for the two of them actually. He could tell that they both came from money or at least, they didn’t want for much, yet they were not the slightest bit materialistic and it gave him hope for the future.
Jobe shook his head. [b “You seem to be kicking yourself for not paying her attention but you do not realise that those moments just prove how much love there is between you. To be content in the presence of someone you love is more than enough. Willow doesn’t need undivided attention, she just needs to know that you are there.”] He knew because that was exactly how he felt with Anastasia but that didn’t mean he didn’t understand where Justin was coming from because he wanted nothing more than to give all of his attention to Anastasia.
[b “I believe that we have all found happiness since you two have arrived and I hope it continues to remain that way.”]
Justin looked to Jobe and smiled at the small toast,
“Seconded.” He commented and took a drink. He thought about Jobe’s words and shook his head,
“Willow wants a low-key wedding. I understand her thinking. We wouldn’t want strangers. I think a quiet day with some good food, good company and as long as we are together.” He explained with a small smile.
“She’s always been like that. Content with so little. I just hope Anastasia can convince her that it is her day.” He remarked quietly.
“Even as I was stuck in some reading or experiment, she was so content. I regret it now of course, I should have looked up from my books and studies just to acknowledge her.” He laughed a little.
“But as of tomorrow I will be her husband and I will never let not acknowledge her again.” He promised and took another drink of scotch.
Anastasia watched Willow and smiled.
“You have all the time in the world. Me and Jobe are excited to start a family. And you know you would never be alone. I’m glad you’re here because it’s very difficult to explain some things to a man.” She laughed a little.
“I know what to expect when pregnant. I saw pregnant women in the poorhouse, on the streets.” She murmured,
“But I cannot imagine talking to Jobe about some of it. Men don’t even come in for the birth of their child. They wait outside and then the doctor fetches them.” She said and got out the carriage when it stopped.
“Now! Let’s find you a wonderful dress. Are you sure you don’t want some people invited?” She asked as she stepped inside and smiled to the dressmaker.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow smiled as Justin whispered to her and pressed a kiss against her cheek. She was surprised that Justin was about to let the women go into town alone but since Anastasia was a married women and Willow now how a ring upon her finger, she knew that Justin felt a little better about letting them go off into town alone. She placed a kiss on his cheek and smiled towards him. [b We won’t be long.”] She said towards him before smiling at Jobe on her way out of the door.
Regardless of the fact that Anastasia just had her own wedding, she seemed excited that Willow was now getting married and she handed her overcoat towards her and led her own to the carriage. She laughed towards her and climbed into the carriage next to her, letting a brief silence wash over her as the butterflies in her stomach decided they would not be resting any time soon. [b “Excited, happy, nervous, terrified...all words that I would associate with how I feel right now.”] Willow looked towards Anastasia now. [b “Everything is so different here. Back home you usually wait a while before you get married and then kids...well you can plan for that. There are ways to stop you from having children temporarily and you can decide if and when you want them. I don’t really have much of a choice here. If we want to be together we have to accept that children might be a part of that deal and we haven’t...we haven’t spoken about that at all.”]
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe watched the two women retreat with excitement and he laughed at the way Anastasia seemed to take so easily to the situation. [b “This time tomorrow you will be a married man. I hope it is everything you want it to be.”] He said placing a hand on his shoulder. [b “What better way to celebrate than a scotch?”] He poured some into two glasses and clinked his with Justin’s before he drank.
[b “To the brother I never had until now.”] His lips turned up into a smile as he finished drinking the glass of scotch and he placed it down on the table when he was finished. [b “You’re really alright with lowkey? I know plenty of people we can invite if you wish for me to ensure there are guests here. It seems a shame for you not to have a proper celebration.”] Two guests hardly constituted as a wedding celebration but he would accept whatever they wanted.
Justin watched Willow and smiled,
“A woman after my own heart, I don’t care as long as were married.” He whispered to her and pressed his lips to her cheek as he thought about kids. It wasn’t something he had ever imagined having in all honesty and he’d never been good with children.
“All in good time, I’m sure.” After all there wasn’t exactly contraception in these days but still.
“Tomorrow? Well, I suppose the ladies should hurry before the dressmaker closes.” He remarked and smiled to them.
He watched them bustle of and sighed a little.
Anastasia smiled a little and it was evident they hadn’t spoken about children yet. She decided to not push the subject. She stood and grabbed her overcoats.
“It is most definitely your turn! We’ll be keeping that dressmaker in business at this rate” She laughed a little and called the carriage around. She climbed in and there was definitely an air of confidence about her seeing as she was now Mrs Hughes. The culprit who had shot Jobe was now in custody and she didn’t see there being any risks.
“Are you excited?” She asked Willow as they trundled along in the carriage.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] She looked up at Justin when he spoke and she nodded her head slightly. There was no doubt in her mind about something she had in the back of her mind. However, it was not something she would bring up now. The last thing she wanted was to put ideas into people’s head or confuse anyone. Besides, Justin had told her to forget about the book and she had...until now.
She looked to Anastasia and laughed momentarily when she commented on both couples having families soon. She decided not to comment on that, not wanting to think about having that conversation yet. [b “Well it’s our wedding, not just mine so it’s just as much your decision as it is mine. Did you have a time scale in mind? I for one do not mind when or how we get married.”] She took hold of Justin’s hand. [b “I just want to be your wife. The how and when is unimportant.”]
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe was just as confused by Willow’s little outburst and looked to Anastasia when she mentioned families. [b “Bringing up two families in this house will certainly be a fun experience for all of us.”] He said with a laugh, looking back at Justin and Willow.
[b “Well if it’s only a small ceremony you want there is no reason why you can’t be married as soon as tomorrow but it really is up to you.”] He said and looked back to Anastasia with a raised eyebrow. [b “That dress maker would be open today wouldn’t they? We could go into town and pick up a dress. You can’t get married without a proper wedding dress.”] He now looked back to Willow who seemed nervous had the prospect of shopping for a wedding dress and then he smiled at Justin. [b “You are going to have an adventure with this one.”]
Justin smiled a little and thanked Jobe before seeing Willow’s reaction to his words.
“Doctor and his wife, it has a ring to it, Hm?” He chuckled a little and wondered why she seemed so taken aback by Jobe’s words.
He shrugged it off, maybe it was nothings
“So, my lovely wife to be, when would you want to get married?” Given she wanted a small ceremony with just their friends, it wasn’t much to organise. As long as it was what Willow wanted then that was what he cared about. He only cared about her being his wife and knowing that she was his forever, whether she wanted a big grand affair or to get married in a little ceremony. It didn’t matter to him as long as she was his wife at the end of it.
“Of course! Whatever you both want we are more than happy to oblige!” She giggled.
“We’ll all end up with families soon.” She laughed and watched Willow look surprised by Jobe’s words.
“Well Justin is a Doctor and you are going to be his wife.” She said and wondered what was going on.
By the looks of it, Justin didn’t know either and Anastasia knew better than to pry. Maybe it was nothing. She hoped so, usually something coming out of a statement meant there were things to be worried about. She smiled to Willow comfortingly and looked to the men. She shook it off and decided it was best to just be happy for them both.
[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/R9bcGpC.jpg]] Willow could hardly say anything as Anastasia lept up to embrace her. She didn’t even know that he had bought a ring or planned on proposing but that didn’t matter now. In this era, time was irrelevant, and she did not care about the fact they had only been open about their feelings for a short period of time. They knew how they felt about each other and that was all that mattered.
Willow looked over to Justin before Anastasia started to pull her into a conversation about the wedding. She giggled when she talked of getting her a dress and flowers and she nodded. [b “I just want it to be the four of us. You are both so important to us and I don’t see any reason why we should invite people we don’t know. If it’s alright I just a [I very] small and insignificant ceremony. It’s how I would have wanted to get married even if we were still in our own time. I’ve never been the type to want a fuss.”] She said with a smile.
She heard what Jobe said and she looked up. [b “What did you just say?”] She had heard that somewhere before.
[right [pic http://i.imgur.com/gb7q260.jpg]] Jobe nodded. [b “That would be easy to arrange if you are sure that is what you both want. We can set up a meeting with the vicar and discuss the details if you like.”] He said as he glanced over at the two women. He was glad that Anastasia had a female in her life, one that she could get excited with over news such as this.
[b “The doctor and his wife.”] He said with a smile as he looked back at Justin before he heard Willow’s voice and he looked at her with confusion. [b “The doctor and his wife?”] He repeated, this time posing it more as a question. Did that mean something to her? He looked to Justin to see if he had any answers.
