[font "tempus sans itc" The woman let out a small sigh as she watched Eli undress her wound. It wasn't that bad, but the blood had been a lot. She bit her lip lightly as he redressed it, and then mentioned about regrouping. She had forgotten that her brother was in the other room with the blonde she didn't like. Jade was slowly growing on her, and she couldn't really complain. Yes things had gotten mixed up, but at the same time she was glad it had. She just wished Eli wasn't so hung up on Jade, then maybe it would be slightly better.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She slid off the counter and followed behind him. She didn't know what to really say. When she entered the living room, was when she spotted the pictures herself. She moved over to the fire place and started looking at them. She didn't dare reach out and touch them. Something was stopping her, like a ringing bell inside of her head. She bit the inside of her cheek. She didn't realize she had gotten so wrapped up in looking at them, that Jade and Eli were speaking about the wine. She shook her head, clearing it.]

[font "tempus sans itc" When the male mentioned that they had a while till the food was done, she walked over to the pile of blankets and pillows, and plopped herself down. She felt Temple's eyes on her, and she shrugged her shoulders a bit towards him. She listened as Eli mentioned that the bottle wasn't labeled, and Jade had said their names had been on it. That was slightly fishy, but she wasn't about to question it. [#D7ACAC "Honestly, I don't care if it's vodka at this point, we all need to calm our nerves"] she said lightly.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She took the glass that was offered to her, and she felt some spark of jealousy as Jade cuddled up to her brother. Eli was getting his hopes up, and back in the kitchen they had been wrapped up in their own little world, she wished she had closed that gap. Maybe then, things wouldn't feel so awkward at the moment. She lifted her glass to her lips, and the bitter taste of the wine hit her tongue. The taste was bitter, but at the same time it was sweet. There was something inside of it, that's for sure.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She sighed lightly as she got lonely, and she pushed herself to her feet once more, being careful not to spill the wine in the process. She moved back to the fire place and looked at the pictures once more. As her eyes were scanning the pictures, something tapped on the window to her right. She nearly jumped out of her skin, and her glass fell to the floor, shattering as it did. The liquid going everywhere. [#D7ACAC "Fuck.."] she muttered lightly, as her eyes looked towards the window.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Staring right back at her was a pair of yellow eyes. Eyes that weren't of the human variety. Her heart was slamming inside of her chest, as she moved closer to the window. That's when she saw the masked face of a raccoon. The little guy had scared her so badly, she wanted to scream. [#D7ACAC "Isn't this strange? Seeing that little guy out there, and he's just staring right back"] she whispered lightly. She didn't know if the other's were paying much attention, but that didn't bother her. She was used to it honestly.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She reached up and tapped the glass gently, that seemed to startle the creature it opened it's mouth, and then jumped down and ran into the darkness. She shook her head lightly, and as she looked up she spotted a man outside the window. [#D7ACAC "Eli.. Temple.. Anyone.. Someone's outside by the trees"] she said, her voice rising a little it. When she turned to point him out to the other's, the figure moved out of her sight, and behind some trees. The figure was planning something, horrible and dark. Something the four adults weren't going to enjoy.]

[font "tempus sans itc" When she finally got Eli's attention, she turned back to the window and saw that the figure was gone. [#D7ACAC "I swear to God he was right there.. The raccoon was blocking my view of him"] she said, her voice cracking a bit. She shook her head, and slipped past the male. She needed to get the mess cleaned up, before the wine settled into the floor boards. She went into the kitchen, and the smell of the chicken hit her nose. It smelled amazing. She checked the timer, and noticed they still had a little while to go.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She found the paper towels, the broom and dustpan. She carried everything back into the living room, and cleaned up her mess. She was careful not to cut herself again. She swept the glass into the dustpan, and then bent down to mop up the liquid. She didn't understand why she was so jumpy tonight. She sighed lightly looking over her shoulder. [#D7ACAC "I feel like something's going to happen.. Something bad, and we can't stop it.."] she breathed out at Eli's question moment's ago. She stood and carried everything back into the kitchen, and threw the glass away.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Temple looked up when Eli and Maia walked into the room. Maia's hand was wrapped up, and he sighed lightly. He knew the woman had done something stupid, but he would talk to her later about it. Eli was busy asking if anyone felt anything strange. He was about to say something when Jade came over, and curled up against his side. He shifted a bit, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer against him. He tilted his head to the side, and pressed his lips against her forehead gently, taking in her smell.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [#b4c8ee "I promise I won't leave your side again. If it'll make you feel better, you can sleep in my bed tonight. I wouldn't mind the company, and I promise I'll be nothing but the perfect gentleman towards you"] he said softly, so only the blonde could hear him. He looked up as Maia sat down, and spoke about the wine. He laughed lightly and shook his head a bit. That was Maia for you. Always talking about vodka, or some type of drink. Even though she didn't drink often, he just hoped she wouldn't over do it.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He kept his arm wrapped around Jade, keeping her in place against his side. The feeling of her body felt amazing, and he didn't want her moving. He had seen the way Eli had looked at her a couple of times, but she wasn't interested in him. Couldn't he see that? It kind of made Temple mad. He wasn't about to ask about it though. It wasn't his place anyway. As his sister stood and moved back to the fireplace he sighed a bit. [#b4c8ee "There's really nothing there"] he told her, but she ignored him.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He then turned his gaze back to Eli and nodded a bit. [#b4c8ee "In answer to your question, I feel like something's really off. I don't know what it is, but I think all four of us were meant to be here. I don't know why, but something brought us all here. Whatever the reason is, I'm kind of glad it did"] he said turning his gaze to Jade. He kissed her forehead again, before downing his own glass of wine. That's when the sound of shattering glass was heard, and he looked up.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Maia had dropped her glass, and was moving towards the window. There was a creature there, he could see it. He was going to let Eli come to the rescue this time. He had Jade to worry about. He reached for the wine bottle again, and filled his glass a second time. The wine tasted different, but he wasn't going to complain about it. It's been awhile since he's had a nice wine, and this was amazing. He listened as Maia spoke, and he saw his sister's face pale. Someone was out there? For sure?]

[font "tempus sans itc" He was about to stand when Maia said the man, or woman was gone. His heart was hammering inside of his chest. Maybe it was the wine talking, but his sister looked scared. Something was amiss, and he didn't like it at all. He was getting hungry though. He sighed a bit as he leaned back and looked towards Jade. [#b4c8ee "You never did say anything about sleeping in my bed tonight"] he said with a small smirk, as he took a smaller sip from his glass. His head was swimming a bit already, and he didn't know if that was a good thing or not.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He would deal with that when the time came. He wanted to know what Jade would say. Maybe he would get laid tonight. Yes the events were really creeping him out, and when Maia spoke about them it made him shiver a bit. Maybe something was going to happen, but maybe not. They could all be getting wound up for no reason. He downed his second glass of wine, and poured himself a third.]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Jade was walking as quietly as she could, as calmly as she could. Her hands had begun to start to shake. It was just a note…It was just something that all people did when they opened up their house. The note…however, it gave away all their names…as if they had planned it all. Her mind was racking the many different situations and the weird feeling that was in the pit of her stomach as her fingers twisted around the neck of the wine bottle. She had to grab a few glasses and when she had peeked into the kitchen, walking on the wooden floor hearing some of it creak, the door as it opened slightly pushed Eli over the edge as he was shoving away from the female that he was obviously flirting with. She just smiled at them and asked if they wanted a glass of wine as calmly as she could. She would act as if the coincidence didn’t matter. As if this was not all planned by the owner of the house. ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Maia had immediately looked at her and Jade just looked between them for a solid second before she answered. The redness was already peeking over Eli’s cheeks, but Jade was dipping out of the kitchen so fast that she barely caught the color beginning to reach the tip of his cheeks. Pressing her lips together, she let the door close to the kitchen as she held the glass of wine and the number of glasses that she needed as she walked back into the connected living area. She set the glasses down on the glass table steadily and looked at the bottle of wine. The label completely missing, she wondered what flavors it held…what tastes were going to be in the mix. Her eyes traced over the contents as best as she could through the dark tinted glass. It was a red. She was more of a sweet red rather than a dry wine, but stills he would manage anything to just loosen up. Her nerves were so wracked and uneven that she could barely handle the weight of the bottle as she set it down.]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Temple hadn’t returned just yet. She was alone within the drafty house and she had felt the cold-given shivers that passed through her body. She wrapped her arms around herself, wondering where there might be a wine bottle opener somewhere. There was not one that came with the bottle, and she didn’t happen to see one in the cabinet with the glasses. She bit her lip and released her hands from her arms and walked toward the hallway where she had seen all of the wine when she had heard footsteps behind her. She slowed and turned around. [b Temple?] She asked quietly, but then she didn’t see anybody. Pressing her lips together, she walked closer to the wine and she felt the shivers again. She closed her hands around her chest again and finally saw a small cabinet next to the glass cases of wine that she thought would have the necessary things. Within it, there were different assortments of utensils, all metal and with a clear coat of shine as if they were brand new. She wrapped her fingers around the corkscrew that was inside and the moment she did, she felt something sticky running down the side of her face. Her free hand pushed the drawer closed and she turned to look at the mirror and there was blood traveling down her forehead. From a clear sharp trauma, she felt almost faint as she dropped the corkscrew and fell down to the floor, letting out a small shriek before she ran her free hand over her hair and there was nothing there. There was no blood…there was nothing roaming her face. She turned and looked into the mirror and it was nothing. Her head was pounding…her heart was jumping through her veins. Redness had started filling her cheeks, and her hands started to get sweaty as she wrapped her fingers around the corkscrew again and she pushed herself up from the floor to walk hastily back into the living room. She had to act normal…She could not let the others know that she was seeing crazy things!]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 She saw Temple setting up the blankets and pillows and she felt relief wash over her. Security was ebbing from him. She couldn’t wait to be within his grasp, within his reach, and within his watch. She would be safe. She could rely on him right? Her eyes traveled over him as she carried the corkscrew in her hand over to the little table where she had set the glasses and bottle down. [b Hey, do you mind helping me with this? My hands are clammy.]]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 He seemed disheveled as he was fixing up the blankets and pillows before setting himself down on one. She wasn’t going to ask due to his ability to shut her out. She didn’t want to ruin anything…Her nerves were all ove the place…anxiety was setting in. ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 [i Jade!] ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 She answered, having been a little startled by the words that were coming from the kitchen. It was Eli. He was worried. As she was already sitting down, she looked at Temple, wondering what the hell was going on. She clenched her teeth and looked toward the windows the moment he mentioned it. There wasn’t anything out there…and the massive windows were showing them to the entire world practically. She felt so exposed…Her eyes traveled over to Temple. [b Something is not right…] She whispered, her eyes moved swiftly back to the window…right at the same time that the bird had hit the window in the kitchen…A second one hit the window right in front of where Temple and her had been sitting.]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Jade jumped and wrapped her arms around Temple. [b Please don’t leave me alone ever again.] She whispered, burying her face in his arm and shirt.]]]

[h3 [center Eli]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 This place was something else. In the middle of nowhere…completely solitary comopared to the rest of the world. Without service, with an entire audience of the forest life before them. The house was immaculate and full of wonders and holds the beauty of what would be known as luxury. That was at least was what mentioned on the description of the winter getaway. He was regretting the decision to take Jade out here. Parts of him was worried for the female beside him too. ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 [b This is bullshit.] He whispered as the bird hit the window. He had looked out and Maia had asked him what he saw. He shook his head and closed the door tightly, locking it behind it, ensuring that no one was going to come in. He felt so insecure in that moment and vulnerable. [b I don’t know what is going on, but we need to regroup.] He stated, making sure everything was set as he looked at her, washing her get more paper towels and wrap them around her hand as she was still nursing her wound. He came up beside her, moving his hands around her own. [b Let me take a look at it.] He said unfolding the cloths and looked at the open wound. It was already starting to bubble up with fresh blood and he could only imagine the sting that it had. He let her fold it back up and he walked over to the cabinet, looking for an emergency kit, and it took him looking through a few drawers before he was able to find some wound dressing. ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 He tried to help her wrap up her hand in some bandages and he looked at her. [b I feel like we are going to need something stronger than wine by the end of the night.] He smiled at her. He had started putting away the dressing materials and closed the top of the box and looked at her, coming up slowly beside her. His heart was starting to thump in his ears. He was starting to feel so much more nervous than he already was. Eyes peeking behind her, he continued to check where the window was ad there was nothing there still. Nothing was there…he was going crazy…]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 [b The food is going to take a while. Why don’t we meet up with the others and then we can come back in when the timer goes off.] He said as he made sure that the timer was going on the oven, ensuring that the right temperature was on the machine before he motioned toward the living room.]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 When he walked out, he saw Jade with her arms around Temple’s and he pressed his lips together. While he had been caught with his arms around Maia, he still felt a ping in his chest. His stomach was dropping, but he swallowed heavily. [b Hey guys.] A smile he pulled from out of his ass basically slid over his lips and he saw the glasses that Jade had gotten out. He walked over and sat opposite of them, his back catecorner to the window where he could watch the window. [b Food will be ready in 45 minutes or so.] He said, reaching for the bottle and poured himself a drink, offering it to Maia.]]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 [b Jade where did you find this wine? It doesn’t even have a label?] He asked. Pressing his lips together he was feeling even more worried now. Not =having a lable on the wine that they were drinking, and then having so many other crazy shit episodes he was worried that there was something mixed in. Jade shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. [i It was labeled for us, Eli. It must have been specially made?] She had said, her voice shaky and cracking.]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 [b I’m not sure I trust it…] He said. Jade was already downing a glass. [i I don’t care. I need some sanity.] She said, pouring herself another glass as she had peeled herself away from Temple before offering him a glass after Eli had been done with it.]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Eli looked at Maia as he was shifting on the blankets and pillows that was set up. [b This place is amazing…but something is not right. Am I the only one that feels this way?] He asked, wondering if he was just feeling things and needed to calm down? ]]]

[center [font “Consolas” [size12 Jade smiled at him and reached out to touch his arm. [b Eli, I’m sure we are okay. It’s just a little crazy with the weather I’m thinking…It can’t be that bad..and then, the darkness is so dark, I’m sure the bright light steers them off…] He could tell that she was saying these things to calm down the situation…He was ensuring himself that she was saying things not that she didn’t believe him but that she was tyring to help the other stay calm too…]]]

[font "tempus sans itc" Being in the small room with the male, made her feel slightly different. She didn't know why, but the feeling she could tell was mutual for him too. That was something she wasn't expecting. Yes he was handsome, and she was just plain. At least that's how she looked at herself. She wasn't as pretty as the blonde with her brother, and it kind of made her jealous. She shook her head lightly, as her eyes turned back to the male as he finished making their meal. She felt bad for cutting herself like she had.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She had been glad to help the male out, and then she had to go and do a stupid move like that. She had been enjoying herself, along with his company. As he spoke about how Temple had been a good man to get her out of there, she nodded lightly. [#D7ACAC "He was I guess. But that's what families are supposed to do. Protect each other, and make sure the other is safe, no matter if it hurts them in the process"] she said softly. She never really talked about her parents, and there were reasons behind that.]

[font "tempus sans itc" When he moved away from the counter, and put his hands on either sides of her thighs, her heart hammered inside of her chest. She wanted to reach out take his face in her hands, and just kiss him. The feeling of him being so close was making her head spin. That's when she heard Jade's voice in the doorway, and Eli was pulling away from her. Her head was swimming, and she looked towards the blonde trying to catch her breath. [#D7ACAC "Yes please, I would like a glass"] she said lightly.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She watched as the blonde left the room, and Eli went back to making dinner. She bit the inside of her cheek, trying to figure out how to breathe right again. She watched with silent eyes, not really saying anything at the moment, as she tired to calm her racing heart down. When he had been that close to her, she should have just kissed him. She didn't care if Jade saw or not. When the chicken was in the over, she unwrapped her hand from the paper towels, and looked at the gash on her hand.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She was about to re-wrap her hand, when the male pulled her off the counter, and put her behind him. What was going on? She looked around the male, and looked out the window trying to see what he was seeing. That's when a bird hit the window and she jumped. She listened as the two other's spoke, and her heart was racing once more. Maybe this was a really bad idea being here right now. She shook her head lightly, as Jade left the room once more. [#D7ACAC "Eli? What did you see?"] she breathed out.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She didn't know if it was a good idea to ask him about it, but what other choice did she have? She then looked down and sighed lightly, as she slipped past him and grabbed the paper towels once more, and wrapped a couple around her hand. She looked towards the window, and stood there waiting for him to say something. What the fuck was going on around here? Whatever it was, it was really starting to creep her out.]

[right [pic https://i.imgur.com/bJxAzHM.jpg]]

[font "tempus sans itc" The male smirked a bit as Jade mentioned about flirting with him a bit more. So that's what they were doing anyway. At least he thought she was doing a pretty good job about it. He watched as she looked at the pictures closer, and he honestly didn't know what else to really do. When she mentioned wine, he broke out into a smile. [#b4c8ee "That sounds amazing"] he whispered. He then slipped out of the room, and down the hallway. As he walked he decided to try one of the doors, to see if the would open.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He reached out and twisted the knob. At first he thought it wouldn't turn, but it did. The moment the door opened, he slipped into the room and looked around. He was kind of surprised to see what the room held. It was like a child would have lived here. There were toys, and dolls, and the bedspread was light pink and purple, and the walls were covered with drawings, and pictures of animals. His heart hammered inside of his chest, as he tried to figure out what to do since he was in here. That's when he saw movement.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He turned his head, and saw a little girl standing there. She was holding her arm, and blood was dripping from her fingers. [i "Help me.. Please.. I'm bleeding, and I don't know what happened.."] she whispered. The male looked at her, and then she spoke once more. [i "You will be next.. You are all in danger by staying here.. Get out.. Get out.. GET OUT!"] she screamed as she lunged for him. The male backed out of the room, and fell against the wall. The door slammed closed, and locked.]

[font "tempus sans itc" His heart was hammering inside of his chest, as he reached up and pushed himself away from the wall. He tried the doorknob, and sure enough the door was locked. He looked down at the crack between the door, and floor boards, and saw that there was nothing but darkness, when a moment ago it had been filled with light. His heart was hammering inside of his chest, and he shook his head. He hurried and walked down the hall to the closet at the end. He opened the closet, and found the blankets and pillows.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He grabbed a bunch of them, and then shut the door. He hurried past the bedroom he had entered, and went back into the living room. He could hear the other's talking, and he was shocked they hadn't heard the screaming. He shook his head, as he walked over to the fireplace, and dropped the blankets and pillows onto the floor. He then started scanning the pictures once more. That's when his eyes landed on the child. She looked so haunted, and so alone, and scared. He shook his head a bit, as he picked it up.]

[font "tempus sans itc" This was the same child he had just seen upstairs in the bedroom. Here she was holding the same arm, but he didn't see the blood. Whatever had happened, it was a huge warning. He sighed lightly placing the picture back onto the fireplace, and he started putting the blankets into a make shift nest, and then added in the pillows. He then plopped down, and made himself comfortable, waiting for the other's to join him. He was debating on even telling them what had happened, but he didn't know for sure yet.]

[center [font “Garamond” [size12 Jade was not the tallest around most girls. She stood around 5’6, which was rather short compared to others that she had attended school with. Her eyes traveled along the photo frames. The glittering of the lights above the reflected in the glass and she could see an image of herself staring back at her through the glass. Her eyes were traveling over the family photos of the supposed owners or what she thought. While she did so, her body shifted on to her tip toes, working the calf muscles strongly and his comment made her smile. [b Oh, you’re cute with your tallness. If I had worked up the courage, I would have asked you to lift me up and help me.] She winked and giggled, feeling her hair stand up on the back of her neck. She looked up at him listening to his words and responding about the bird that had hit the window, she leaned into his arms against his side, enjoying the warmth that he provided. Her eyes traveled over the different bottles in the chilled areas, seeing the cabernet, the blancs, and merlots. Her eyes traveled among the labels and companies and family names that were stamped on them. At the end, she came to a final cabinet, and in the middle of the glass case was a single bottle without a name, but just a single red stamp in the middle where a label should have been. Around the neck of the bottle, there was a simple red bow tied so lovely. It was sparkly and a little note hung below the bow. She reached up and opened up the glass causing the chilled air to pour out. Her fingers wrapped around the neck of the bottle above the bow and she lifted up the heavy bottle, pulling it to her chest as she pressed it against her chest to move it in her hands so she could read the note hanging from it. ]]]

They left one bottle open for us so then we couldn’t drink their other wine. They do this for everyone they open their house to...right?] Her heart was racing in her chest as she tried to think rationally. It was like a treat. [center [font “Garamond” [size12 [b Just takes practice my dear.] He chuckled as he continued and finished up the onion cutting for her. [center [font “Garamond” [size12 He was trying to get his mind on other things so then it wouldn’t get to him that he wanted her. As she spoke of why they were here, as if why they were in the states as a holiday, he slowed his stirring and mixing of the meat and the onions and other spices. He came to a slow stop and then looked at her. [b I could only imagine how you must feel. I have never had that happen to me or see Jade go through that, but that is absolutely terrible. [center [font “Garamond” [size12 He did feel a little redness come to his cheeks as she mentioned his handsomeness and that they were there together. [center [font “Garamond” [size12 [i I found some wine in the cabinet as a welcome gift from the owner for us… Me and Temple were going to go ahead and open it. Yes, please. Pour me a glass Jade. Would you like a glass Maia?] He asked, straightening himself as he leaned against the counter as casual as he could before watching Jade nod and move away from the doorway.]]]

[center [font “Garamond” [size12 [b I felt like I was back in high school just then.] He chuckled as he moved away from the counter and toward the pan where he continued to mess with the insides. The oven began to beep that the chicken was almost done, but warm enough that he could open it so then he could stuff it, he pulled on his oven mits and opened up the oven to pull the chicken out. Setting them on some placemats, he pulled the bowls over set up everything while the chicken cooled off for a little bit and it would allow him to mess with it easier. Cutting into them a little easier, he began to stuff the mixture of cheeses, spices and veggies within the chicken folds and without a few moments notice, he smooshed down the chicken and put a toothpick to hold it closed. ]]]

[center [font “Garamond” [size12 He repeated this process within each of the chicken breasts that he had prepared and then put the final toothpick in and picked up the pan, put it in the oven and set the timer for 45 minutes to ensure that it was going to be cooked correctly. [center [font “Garamond” [size12 He reached for her and pulled her down from the counter. [b Get behind me.] He said and came closer to the window to look into the darkness. Nothing was there, but he could feel his body shaking and his face was turning red from the frustration that he was feeling. [b Something is fucking out there. ] He said as he moved toward the door. He opened it, feeling the rush of cold air over his body. Immediately his skin prickled and he stepped out into the snow and looked around. [b Who is out there?!] He called, but no one answered. The only thing thta moved was the wind over the branches and the sweeping of the leaves and frozen bushes near the edges of the house. He shook his head and rubbed his forehead, stepping backward back inside before closing the door and locking it tight.]]]

[center [font “Garamond” [size12 [b This place is freaking me out…] He said, looking back at her. [b Jade!] He called and he could hear her response from the living room. [i Yeah?!] It was just a moment before she was opening up the door and looking at him. [b Did you see anyone walk by the windows in the living room? ] She was holding a glass in her hand and she shook her head. [i No sir, I didn’t. Did you see something?] ]]]

[center [font “Garamond” [size12 He nodded.]]]

size12 [font “Times” Jade moved closer to him, standing closer to him, and having the ability to smell his cologne…his natural musk scent, she was going all sorts of crazy. The bird hitting the window…the carcass that was sitting out on the deck outside of her glass doors was no longer flying around in her brain. She was stuck in the moment with the man that was standing in front of her and had no idea the affect that he had on her. She nodded, listening to the words carefully, hearing his interpretation of the picture, she took a glance as he lifted it up to put it back on the mantle. She could see the worry lines on the little girls face. They were small, almost blurry in the photo, but they were there.]]

[size12 [font “Times” Together they looked at the photos. She had moved around him, her hand brushing along his backside until she was on the other side, moving to her tiptoes to look at the mantle. The fireplace was large and eloquent, definitely fitting for such a fine cabin. Pressing her lips together she smiled. [b Places like these do not really fit for smaller and somewhat shorter girls like myself.] She laughed and it was in that moment when she was smiling back at him when he reached to push a curl behind her face. She became quiet and still, but he had apologized and it only made her blush more.]]

[size12 [font “Times” She nodded slowly and turned back toward the pictures that he was talking about his sister having a temper. [b It is perfectly fine. I know sometimes I can come off as rude too. I should be apologizing as well. She was simply mirroring my attitude.] She said, looking at the pictures again, completely oblivious to the child’s voice that was ringing in his ears at that moment. ]]

[size12 [font “Times” As she moved away, she felt a cold air drift over her shoulders. It raised the hairs on her arms and along her shoulders and backside. It drifted across her shoulders, but stopped and reappeared around her legs, as if it were a ribbon of cold around her knees and hips. She pressed her lips together as she looked up, wondering if the man had noticed that she was now shaking quietly until he had started to speak. ]]

[size12 [font “Times” His interpretation of a child speaking to him made her feel even more out of place. She was still freezing, though the fire was right there in front of her. Her arms instinctively wrapped around her midline and she shivered quietly. He was still speaking as his mention of a young child came into the silence between them, she met his eyes. There was a pleading in them as he spoke of not wanting to be nuts and going insane. She only smiled. [b I wouldn’t exactly say it’s a good thing you’re hearing those things, but it is not necessarily a bad thing…] She was not sure how to respond to something like this. She didn’t hear children’s voices…she barely even talked to children, which is probably the reason why that the child whoever didn’t speak to her with the aura of not liking children hung around Jade like the plague.]]

[size12 [font “Times” [b But I have something to mention as well…] It was better now than never to mention about the crow flying into the window. She hadn’t said anything to Eli yet, and she was a little unnerved about the entire thing to begin with. [b But there is a dead crow outside of my glass doors in my room. I could have sworn something was moving around the trunks around my room down below and all of the sudden out of nowhere there was a bird flying straight into my window. I’m not sure if these things are related but I don’t like it. ]]]

[size12 [font “Times” She looked around and looked through the windows again. The lights that poured out into the darkness were barely cutting through the tintedness of the night. It barely reached four feet from the outside grounds before they were cut off by the amount of dense forest surrounding them. There was an opening, a lovely garden area that was on the backside of the cabin, but it was just masked by the darkness that was withholding the cabin. ]]]

[size12 [font “Times” Pressing her lips together, she stood closer to him as she looked out the window. There were eyes…She could feel them on her skin, but that could just be the nerves that she was feeling and with all this paranormal talk. She gulped a little bit and looked up at him. [b Would you like a drink or a glass of wine? All of this paranormal talk is freaking me out and we are supposed to be relaxing and having fun.] She said with a smile, hoping to play it off gently, without trying to hurt his feelings at all. ]]

[center -----]

[size12 [font “Times” At first her comment didn’t reach to his head about not disturbing a sight as she apologized for scaring him. His face didn’t twist into a smile until she was moving away to fill up the pan. He had been just surprised to see that a woman was actually helping him. Jade never bothered, just because she didn’t want to impose, and she always felt that she was useless. His eyes moved over his ingredients as he was setting them all out, asking her about if she would like to have some stuffed chicken parmesan. He had realized after he was already boiling chicken and getting everything together that he hadn’t even asked.]]

[size12 [font “Times” Her response made him laugh and feel a sigh of relief. [b You have no idea how great it is to finally hear someone who is open minded about food. I’ve been a little restricted with what I can make over the past few years.] It was more of all the years that he had known Jade. Learning to cook was to impress her. Learning everything he had done was to impress her, but even then, years later, it had still not fully gone through his head that she might not be interested in him….]]

[size12 [font “Times” [b After all the years cooking alone and worrying that I have everything straight, it is good to have help. I’m not going to kick it if I don’t need to.] He laughed and went back to cutting up the chicken, pouring some spices over it as he was setting it on the pan. He had asked her to cut onions and get some other things prepared for their internal part of the chicken before they were to bake it when he had heard her gasp. He turned around, dropping a piece of chicken back into the water to come and stand next to her. ]]

[size12 [font “Times” He reached for her hand, seeing the cut as he moved it back underneath the water, knowing the pain that was associated with it as he had cut himself plenty of times before in the kitchen. It was never fun. He moved quickly, looking through the drawers, and through the cabinets, not to find it there. He heard her turn off the water and rip off some paper towels near the sink as he was searching through the pantry until he saw a couple of see through boxes that finally had bandaids and other medical equipment. ]]

[size12 [font “Times” As he was going through it, he pulled out a few butterfly bandaids that he could stretch across the cut to keep it closed. [b It is no problem at all. I have seen many of cuts on my own hand, and surprisingly only a few times it has been with onion. And those sting like a motherfucker.] He smiled and looked at her. [b I’m sorry you got hurt, but I am grateful for your help. I appreciate it in every way as he began to wrap her finger lightly with some medwrap to ensure that the butterfly stick would hold.]]

[size12 [font “Times” Glancing up, he felt a cool breeze and noticed that the window was open. [b Did you open this?] He asked, moving over to shut it for her. [b That was not open a minute ago.] Eli moved away from the window. Things were weird…And the darkness outside was not inviting, but menacing. Eyes felt as if they were staring back at him…He knew they weren’t alone because of the wildlife that were out there, but something else…something darker seemed to be lurking.]]

[size12 [font “Times” [b How about you sit up here] He moved some of the stuff on the counter so she could move up and sit down on the counter as he was starting to mix everything in so then he could stuff it into the chicken and continue with the baking. [b It’s always good to have company when cooking. And you can be my personal taste tester until I need help with some of this wrapping.] He laughed and was mixing the concoction of cheese, other spices and some of the good onion that she had been able to cut into the mixture that he then put on the ham that was holding it all within the chicken.]]

[font "Georgia" When the male mentioned she had scared him, she smiled sheepishly at him. [#E7C6A5 "Sorry about that.. Just when I like what I see, I don't want to ruin the sight right away. [font "Georgia" [#E7C6A5 "No we haven't, but it sounds amazing. I know Temple won't complain. She just didn't want to butt heads with the woman, and she was really thinking about telling them both, her and Temple would leave in the morning. She just didn't know about the weather though. When he thanked her for the help she shrugged and smiled towards him again.]

[font "Georgia" [#E7C6A5 "No need to thank me. It's the least I can do, with you being so understanding with me, and my attitude towards your friend. I'm thankful you aren't kicking me out. She was happy that he was. She looked down at the onions she had been chopping, and saw a little bit of a pink tint. That's when the pain hit.]

[font "Georgia" She hadn't realized she had cut herself. [#E7C6A5 "Shit.. I'm so sorry.. I get to talking and I don't pay attention.."] she said as she hurried and took the knife to the sink. She turned on the water and rinsed the knife off, and filled up the other side with boiling hot water. She then added soap and dropped the knife in. She then put her fingers under the still hot water. The searing heat made her wince slightly, but she didn't cry out. She wasn't going to look weak in front of this man.]

[font "Georgia" After a couple of minutes, she turned the water off and wrapped her fingers in a paper towel. [#E7C6A5 "I am so sorry.. I'm such a klutz.."] she muttered lightly moving over to the counter again. She then grabbed the onion's she had been cutting and threw the whole thing away. She felt her heart drop into her stomach. She had ruined something so simple, just to talk to this man. She wasn't this careless. Something else had distracted her. When she was using knifes, she was always paying attention, but something else made her lose that focus.]

[font "Georgia" She gently pulled the paper towels away and checked the cut. It wasn't as bad as she thought it was, thank God. [#E7C6A5 "Could you find the first aid kit? There should be one here somewhere.. Again I'm so sorry for ruining the onions, I don't know what came over me.. I look like such a fool"] she said lightly. She tried to smile, but it wasn't happening. She was shaking slightly as she felt something brush the back of her neck. She looked over her shoulder, and noticed that the window was open. How did that happen?]

[font "Georgia" She shook her head lightly, and waited for the male to find the first aid kit for her. She wrapped the paper towels around her fingers once more, keeping her eyes turned down. She didn't want to see the look on his face, she already felt bad enough as it was.]

He didn't know if he was just rambling, or if what he said made any deal of kind of sense.]

[font "Georgia" He then placed the picture back onto the fireplace, and looked at the other's. They were all taken in front of the cabin. Some in the summertime, and some in the fall. None in the winter, and that was slightly odd. Was this the first time, they let people stay during the winter? He shook his head lightly and looked towards the woman. He then reached up, and touched her cheek lightly, his eyes locking on her's. She really was a beautiful woman, someone he could spend countless hours with, and someone he wouldn't mind getting to know on a more intimate level.]

[font "Georgia" He just hoped he wasn't making a fool of himself right now. He then dropped his hand to his side, and looked back into the fireplace. [#ADD8E6 "Please, say something.."] he whispered. [font "tempus sans itc" This whole thing was a nightmare. Everything was falling apart, and Maia felt like she couldn't even trust her own brother at the moment. She had wanted a nice little get away, but they come into the cabin and someone else is already here? Just because they were here first, didn't mean they got to stake claim to it. Hell if she had too, she'd prove when they had booked it. Right now though, she didn't really care. She was hungry, annoyed, and slightly scared. She heard her brother mention firewood, and was shocked the other male didn't bother to help.]

[font "tempus sans itc" What was with people in the USA, were they really that stubborn, and in their ways they wouldn't help someone out? She shoved that aside, and made a mental note to take to Temple about it later. She didn't like how the blonde woman copped an attitude with her. At least she had apologized, and even that went unnoticed. She sighed lightly as she moved into her bedroom closing the door behind her. She knew Temple would handle getting the firewood by himself. He would want her inside, where it was warm anyway.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She opened up her bag, and dug though it finding the sweats, and sweater she wanted. It had her college campus name on it, and she hurried and changed. She then found her fuzzy socks and slid them onto her feet as well. When she was comfortable enough, she then pulled her hair back into a ponytail, and wrapped a rubber band around it. She then looked at herself in the mirror. [#E7C6A5 "Shit's really hit the fan with this one.."] she muttered to herself. That's when she heard Eli in the kitchen.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Her room wasn't that far off from the kitchen, and she opened the door and walked out. She walked into the kitchen on silent feet. It was a rare sight seeing a man cooking. She leaned against the door jab and watched him with silent eyes. She had to admit to herself, he was pretty good looking. She wouldn't mind having that man to wake up to every morning. She had a feeling he was dating the blonde though, so she kept her mouth shut on that. She watched him a little bit longer, before speaking.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [#E7C6A5 "Listen, I know we all got off on the wrong foot, and I do apologize for coming in with an attitude. It's just my brother and I had booked the cabin months in advance, and coming here and having that blonde staking claim doesn't sit too well with me.. So I do apologize for being a bitch about it. Is there anything I can help you with though? Setting the table maybe?"] she offered. The words falling from her lips, she meant. She did want to help, and she was deeply sorry for lashing out a little while ago.]

[font "tempus sans itc" They were going to be spending the night together, so she might as well play nice. Even if the blonde woman didn't want too. She wrapped her arms around herself, as she waited for the male to speak towards her. She hated the silence more than anything, but she had grown used it, because of her brother. Even though it annoyed her to no end, she'd deal with it.]

[font "tempus sans itc" As soon as he was done carrying in the first load, he spotted Maia talking to the other male. He didn't want his sister around him, but he didn't have much of a choice on the matter. She was acting like an adult now, and that's all he could ask for. He closed and locked the side door, and went back into the living room. He set the logs up in a small dish type thing, and tossed one or two more into the fire to keep it going. He sat on the floor in front of the fireplace.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He couldn't help but wonder what had gone wrong. Had they gone though two different people for this cabin, or the same ones? Surely some would have noticed, or said something. At least that's what he liked to think anyway. He bent his legs, and rested his arms across his knees. [i "Help me.. Please.. I'm hurt.. I'm bleeding.."] came a whisper. The male's head snapped up and he looked around the room. The windows were closed tightly, and he was alone. Then where the hell did that voice come from?]

[font "tempus sans itc" His heart was hammering inside of his chest, and he hoped that he wasn't going crazy. He couldn't afford being locked up in an insane ward. At least not right now. He shook his head lightly and looked back into the fireplace. When he did, he thought he saw a woman's face inside. He scooted back, until his back was touching the couch. [#ADD8E6 "Bloody hell.."] he muttered lightly. He was seeing things, he had to be. This wasn't right. He hurried and pushed himself to his feet, and stood there shaking a bit. Was he scared?]

[font "tempus sans itc" Anyone in their right minds would have been scared to death. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and counted to ten. When he opened his eyes again, he looked into the fire and no one was there. He walked over to the windows and made sure they were locked. He then walked to the front door, and locked that as well. He slowly made his way back to the fireplace, and looked deep into the flames. [#ADD8E6 [i 'You can't be going insane now.. Maia needs you']] he thought to himself. Which was true. Maia did need him.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He sighed lightly as he leaned his arm across the top of the fireplace, and looked up at the photo's placed there. As he took a closer look in one of them, he spotted a family standing in front of this cabin, the man and woman looked really happy. The third person there didn't look happy. She looked scared shitless. He reached out for it, and lifted it off the mantle. He stood there looking down at it, getting lost in the look on the woman's face.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Everything seemed to be falling apart at the seems. At least that's how she felt about it. She was shocked to hear Temple finally speak, but he was the calmer one out of the two. Her eyes went towards the other male, and she couldn't help but take a second glance. He was handsome, and she felt some kind of pull towards him. The other female on the other hand, she wanted to strangle already. She shoved those thoughts aside, as the two left the room and headed into the kitchen. She sighed and slid her phone out of her pocket.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She managed to pull up her e-mail, but it took a little bit. It timed out on her twice before she was able to pull up the information, and she started reading the message. [i We would like to confirm your reservation, for the cabin in the woods. For one week stay. The cabin will be stored with food, and everything you would need. We are sorry to inform you, that service is horrible and you won't be able to reach the owners of the cabin, until you get back into town.]]

[font "tempus sans itc" [i There are plenty of rooms to choose from, and the area around the cabin is perfect for hiking, or just lazing around. You are one of the lucky few who have been chosen to stay at the cabin. We hope you enjoy your stay, and we will see you in a week. The Matthews.] That's all there was information was on the whole matter, and she sighed lightly.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She knew she shouldn't have had that much of a temper, but she had wanted this place to herself. [font "tempus sans itc" She sighed a bit as she looked towards Temple, wondering if he'd even say anything more, or if she would be the one doing all the talking. At the mention of food, his own stomach growled, and listening to Maia about the e-mail, made him slightly nervous. Really, no service?]

[font "tempus sans itc" They were in the mountains after all, but sometimes you could get a little bit. Depending on where you went. When the other's went back into the kitchen Temple bent down and picked up their bags, and carried them into two of the rooms. [font "tempus sans itc" He sighed lightly, as he pushed himself up and went back out into the living room. The fire was still going, and it was finally dark outside. [#ADD8E6 "If the power goes out, I don't think we'd have anything but the fire to keep us warm. So if that happens, I'm going to go out back and make sure there's firewood, and bring in some."] he said lightly. He wasn't about to ask the male for help either. He was too prideful of that. He did feel Maia's eyes on him though, and he smiled towards her. Just to help her feel more at ease.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [#ADD8E6 "I am sorry about all this. But I have a feeling the owners did want nothing more than money"] he said with a small shrug of his shoulders. He then went back to his room, found his jacket and slid it on. He dug out a pair of gloves, and a hat to match. He then walked out to the kitchen and opened the back door. The moment he did, the cold hit him like a ton of bricks. He shuddered slightly, and went to find the firewood. He let out a small string of cuss words as well.]

[font "tempus sans itc" This was not going to plan, and he knew he'd hear it from Maia later. Right now he had something more important to take care of. That's keep himself, and the other's warm. [font "tempus sans itc" [#E7C6A5 "Temple! Let's go, we need to get a move on!"] Maia called though the closed door. She heard her brother groan and she knew he was finally waking up. She walked away from the door, and headed into the kitchen. Living in London had it's perks, her accent blended in well with other's, and when she was really worked up her Irish accent would show as well. She sighed lightly as she looked around the kitchen, making sure everything was put in the right spots, and the windows were locked. She was finally going on holiday.]

[font "tempus sans itc" It was something her brother, and herself needed more than anything. These past couple of months had been hard on her. They had lost their parents, and she felt like she was losing herself in the process. She really didn't like the feeling, but what other choice did she have? She felt alone, and even with Temple around, she didn't feel quite alone like she normally did. When he came to her about two weeks ago, about going to the states, she was kind of iffy on the whole thing. Now though, she was excited.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She had been sheltered as a little girl, and leaving England was something she had thought about daily. Now that it was happening, she had a feeling she wouldn't ever come back. She would come back long enough to make sure everything was in order, and then she would move back to the states. She sighed lightly as she looked at the time. She could hear Temple moving around, and knew he was finally up and moving. She knew to keep her mouth shut though, since he was barely waking up in the first place.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She double checked the kitchen windows, and then went into the living room to get her bags. She watched as her brother came down the stairs, with his own bags. The taxi was sitting outside and she grinned at him. [#E7C6A5 "Good morning sunshine. Let's get going"] she said. The male narrowed his eyes, and flipped her off. The two grabbed their bags, and were out the door and in the taxi in less than five minutes. Maia looked out the window, with her bag in her lap, her heart racing as they headed to the airport.]

[center [b [font "tempus sans itc" [u Hours Later.]]]]

[font "tempus sans itc" The moment that the plane touched the ground, Maia was bouncing out of her seat. The plane ride had been long, and really boring but now that they were here, they were that much closer to the cabin. Temple made sure to grab their things, as she went to get the keys for their car. Once she had the keys in hand, she walked with the male out into the chilly air. She shivered a bit, and wrapped her arms around her stomach. [font "tempus sans itc" She wasn't expecting her brother to say anything, as he threw their things into the back seat of the car. She handed the keys over and slid into the passenger seat. She looked out the window as the snow started to fall. It was going to be perfect. She loved this kind of weather, and just being here was making her more, and more excited. She dug around in her purse and read the directions off to her brother, and pretty soon the cabin was in view. She wrinkled her nose lightly when she spotted the other car.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [#E7C6A5 "I thought you told me we were the only one's here"] she said lightly. Temple still wasn't saying anything, but the car came to a stop and the two climbed out. Maia let Temple get their things as she walked inside. Sure enough there was a male not much older than her standing there. A woman was off in the distance, and she crossed her arms over her chest, narrowing her eyes a bit. [#E7C6A5 "Excuse me, but who are you? And why are you in our cabin?"] she asked, a slight icy tone to her voice.]

[font "tempus sans itc" She wasn't in the mood to deal with these people, and she wanted to go and take a nice hot bath. The snow was starting to fall even harder, and Temple finally made it inside shutting the door behind him. He looked between his sister, and the other male and sighed a bit dropping the bags onto the floor. The cabin was big enough for everyone, but it still bugged her that someone else was here, when they had been the ones to get the cabin in the first place. She crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for the male to reply.]

[font "tempus sans itc" Ever since their parents died, Temple really didn't talk much. He had been really close to his mother, and being the one to watch her die changed him. He only talked when he felt like it, and today wasn't going to be one of those days. He heard Maia calling through the door, and he groaned lightly letting her know he heard her. He forgot about their little holiday, and he didn't even want to go anymore. He sighed lightly and reached for his phone tapping the screen to life. He had a simple message waiting for him.]

[font "tempus sans itc" [b [i I know you and Maia are heading out soon, but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you, and that I do love the both of you dearly. Please if you need anything, let me know. Xoxo - Manda]] His aunt had finally reached out to them, and he bit the inside of his cheek debating on what to reply back. [#ADD8E6 [i Yes we are heading out this morning. Thank you for the kind words, I'll make sure to let Maia know.]] and that was it. Simple and straight to the point.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He didn't really get along with his aunt, but he knew Maia did. They had an amazing bond, and he didn't want to ruin that between them. He rolled out of bed, walked into his bathroom and brushed his teeth, and tried to fix his hair. It wasn't happening, so he left it. He made sure his bathroom window was locked, and then walked back into his room and grabbed his back. It was stuffed full of a weeks worth of clothes. He didn't want to go, but he promised Maia he would.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He looked out his bedroom window and spotted the taxi parked below, and he walked out of the room, leaving the door open. He stopped at the top of the stairs, and rolled his eyes a bit at his sister. She was too bubbly, and he felt bad for the man that ended up in love with her. He would have his work cut out for him. He walked down the stairs, grabbed their things and walked out with her. He locked up the house, and then slid into the taxi. This was going to be a long ass trip indeed.]

[center [b [font "tempus sans itc" [u Hours Later.]]]]

[font "tempus sans itc" The moment the plane landed, the male watched Maia and how excited she was. It made him smile, and when she came back with the keys he took them from her. They walked out into the chilly air, and he took a breath and held it. It was a lovely sight to see, that's for sure. The two made it to the car, and he threw their things into the back seat. He climbed into the car, started it up and pulled away from the curb. He listened to the direction's Maia gave him carefully.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He wasn't in the mood to drive off the side of the road, and he sure as hell wasn't about to put either of them in danger. As they climbed the mountains, getting closer and closer to the cabin the snow started to fall even harder. He tightened his hands around the wheel, and kept his cool for the most part. That was until they pulled up to the cabin, and spotted the other car. This wasn't a good thing, not at all. He came to a stop beside the other car, shut his off and climbed out.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He let his sister go inside, and he got their bags. He locked up the car, and stood in the snow for a moment longer. Come tomorrow morning, there would be at least a couple of inches, or maybe two feet at least. That's going to be interesting. He walked into the cabin, and heard Maia talking to a male. He cocked his head to the side and dropped the bags onto the floor. He cleared his throat and spoke for the first time. [#ADD8E6 "I see there's been a mistake, but mind if we get more information from you?"] he asked.]

[font "tempus sans itc" He wasn't meaning for it to sound mean, but Maia did have an attitude, and he wasn't about to deal with it. [#ADD8E6 "Considering there's a lot of rooms here, I don't see why we can't all share the cabin. It's a good size, and it's warm. The weather isn't the best right now, so I suggest we make the best of it"] he said with a small shrug of his shoulders. This was the most he's said in about a week. It felt weird talking, but he had to keep a calm head. At least for now, or until they can figure everything out.]

[center [font “Times" [size12 [b “Jade, can you please come help me with the bags?”] Eli’s voice echoed down the hallway. It was a quiet morning, and they were going to be traveling all afternoon. Her fingers closed the clasp on her make up mirror and she shoved it in the makeup bag before placing it neatly on top of the folded clothes of her carryon. Flying was not her forte, and never would she get used to the fact that she wouldn’t have land underneath her. Her fingers were shaking and her eyes were droopy from the dramamine that she was forced to take to help her motion sickness.]]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Oh how she hated to fly…]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 And that is why Noah never retrieved this Allie. She couldn’t be the bird that he was meant to be.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Zipping up her bag and grabbing her phone charger to put in the front pocket of her purse, she slipped the bag over her shoulder and carried the luggage tightly in her hands. The floors creaked as she walked. Heels were not right on this wooden floor, and the people below weren’t fans of them either. Too bad her job required them.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 [i “Coming.”] She called, lifting her eyes as she carried the luggage out and grabbed one of the other bags that were sitting near the front door. Eli was running around trying to make sure they were all in one piece before leaving. Windows shut and secure, doors to be locked, and everything to be turned off besides the necessities. [i “You worry too much.”] She mumbled as she watched him. His worried face straightened as it turned toward her. [b “If you would rather we pay more by the time we get back, go ahead.”] He sighed heavily and moved along, carrying his own carryon and luggage bag.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 They were to be gone a week. A solitary week where they could spend their time away from the city and enjoy the nature that they commonly enjoyed. She was looking forward to the trails that were promised, and the hidden water falls that were somewhere on the property. Already, she could feel the dampness of the morning dew on her skin, and the cool brisk air against her face. Oh, how it was going to be beautiful.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Until she opened up her eyes once more and felt the water operated air conditioner on her face. She groaned and moved along the hallway down to the taxi that was waiting for them on the street. Eli wasn’t too far behind, not paying attention to the girl lost in her own world. He was too worried about his own. ]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 ---]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Eli managed to get everything out as they arrived. Getting the carryons from the flight was difficult and a pain in the ass. He could smell the smoke and feel it just penetrating his lungs from the woman that sat across the way from them. It was pungent and it stung his nose. Blasted, it was a two hour flight he had to endure. He tried to sleep while Jade sat beside him, worried about the ground that was a mile below them as they flew. The stench carried over his nostrils, and even when people walked by it was just mixed and then went back to the original scent.]]]

[center [font “Times" [size12 Walking out of the gate, baggage in hand, Eli directed toward the rental car facility attached to the airport. It was all planned, he had made sure, for their car to be arrived, warmed up, and ready for them to go. He had waited too long for this vacation for anything to go wrong.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 “Here you are sir.” The attendant motioned as he handed over the keys to Eli. Jade nodded and followed Eli out as they walked over to the Range Rover that was pulled up to the curb. Elation had filled Eli as he opened up the rear and helped fill the back with their luggage before he slid into the comfortable leather seating.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Jade only laughed and shook her head. [i “I don’t know why you spent so much money on the rental. It’s just to get us to and from the house. I personally don’t plan to leave that much. I’m ready to be separated from the city life for a while.”] ]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 [b “I like comfort and style. Thank you.”] He retorted and gave her a light push against the shoulder. Bringing the car to life once more, they drove through the windy roads that were the roads of colorado.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 Trees lined the roadways, kissed with snow. Plows had already come through to clear the pavement and allowing of traffic through the windiness of the mountain life. Certain areas at this time were closed off until the weather would clear, but the current conditions were maintaining. It was beginning of fall in the mountains and it was a fresh start and complete opposite from the hot and sticky weather that was Texas where they had came from.]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 As they pulled up, it was like a haunting mansion. The windows were tinted, and the wood dark, which was stark compared to the snow that covered it. Getting to it, the road was a little rough due to the lack of paving of the plows. They managed to safely arrive at the address given to them over the email as they had applied. Certain instructions were lined out for them and Jade pulled them from the envelope Eli had so carefully put together. [i “It says the code to get in is 1438 on the front door. We are not allowed in the storage shed behind the property, and there are about 3 or so trails that lead up to the house from the land behind.”] She flipped the page over to read more. [i “And then, the bedrooms are upstairs, and it says that the kitchen is stocked with food.”] She sighed. [i “I hope they read my peanut allergy.”]]]]

[center [font “Times” [size12 [b “I paid attention and put it on our reservation for sure if they were to stock to keep anything that had to do with peanuts away from the house.”] Eli motioned as he pulled the keys from ignition and began to climb out. He shivered the moment he got out and pulled the bags from the back. Together they walked up the stairs and typed in the designated code before entering. Already there was a fire started in the grand living room. The entire back half of the house was solid glass...giving the entire picture of the winter forest wonderland to spread out before them.]]]
