Hearing his brother's words as the man shifted out of his seat Anjui knew of the Shor Cel, but had never actually used it. The statues were not meant to actually be used as a hunting force, but more a last defense if the three passes fell to enemies and they were pushed to the Capital itself. They were lifeless, showed no mercy, and no signs of need of sleep or hungry. They were wild savage things and a horror to see. The only way to destroy them was by completely smashing the stone that created them to pieces. A loss of a limb or their head wouldn't stop them even.
Anjui watched as the nobility all ran out of the hall in mayheim. Of course he had posted guards along the route to make sure the nobility actually left instead of running around trying to find places to hide within the city. Of course far and few those hidding places were Anjui would likely know of each of them, or Ado would. As the two of them constantly ran and hid away from their trainers and their parents. As the nobility ran away from the city the few armies out in the lands began to gather outside of the citadel in the training fields.
Anjui hadn't know his brother's plans, but they would not alter his at all. He would rule all the elven people under the House he now made. Looking to his brother neither said a word, but Anjui had wanted to give his brother a few words, that would have to wait however as the four commanders came forward. [#b62e11 "Commanders; why have I recieved word that all our forces muster on the training fields here in the capital?"] Looking around at his Captains the young ruler waited patientlly for an answer.
[#ae0f1c "My Lord, News from within the citadel has reached all ears, You now rule. and the soldiers have come to pledge their loyalty to you."] the one person that had answered was the Northern Wall Captain. Nodding Anjui stood also from his seat. [#b62e11 "Well Captains lead the way."] The captains all stood and turned. Leading to the training fields all the soldiers. Those placed at the fortresses, the legions out on the field, and the guards to the fortress and few cities within the lands were all gathered. As Anjui came into view all the guards went to one knee. It was then the crowd yelled [b "Ail maesoli sai si tyrn."]
It meant in service to the crown, the small piece of jewelry that sat upon Anjui's head. It was what bound the land to its ruler. its people to the house, and its army to the land. It was the one simple thing that could swept away without a second thought. Of course in times of war one had to eliminate the entire ruling noble family, or during the Fall and spring festivals one could challange another for the right to rule a house. Winter was time for preservance, one usually did not leave their home unless necessary in winter The students that would go to the Temple would leave early Fall and not return until their schooling was done nearly a century later.
Anjui looked out across his soldiers. Many wore the armor of the new house he now held. Its banners replaced the old ones in every city, every fortress, every citadel the Felwood family held. Looking out across his army Anjui held up his hand. [#b62e11 "Car Thys si Tyrn."] his saying of the ancient old traditional vow. Hail from the crown. a saying so old he remembered when he father had taken the oath and would renew it every decade. Anjui called out then to the soldiers all gathered. [#b62e11 "Fair Soldiers of the House of Starlight, I have a dream, but it will require much strife and sacrifice for us to achieve it. But first we must make sure our position as a house stands secure, so while normal life would dictate you to return to your families until the last few days of spring, we have much work to do before then. First we must fortify the walls of Msol Thysaer, Pandryl Shar, Ialolys Syrdaes, and Col Kes. These must stay within our hands."]
Whispers went out among his soldiers and he could tell as a few of them would lean back to talk to another person behind them, or they would turn to their head slightly to one side to talk to the person next to them. Some would even lean forward to talk to the person in front of them. [#b62e11 "Do not worry there is still plenty of time. And to be sure that all of you are given family time I will allow for you to bring with you your families. I will even be on the construction as well."] This sent even more words through the army. Their Ruler was going to help with construction and not just give the money in for the building? And most of all he wanted all of them fortified.
[#8d3f46 "My lord what else can we do to the Capital that hasn't already been done?"] Anjui only turned to face the commanders. [#b62e11 "As it sits we have the Citadel, the noble quater, and the commons. This shall expand farther."] Holding up his hand a rolled up paper was handed to the young ruler. Opening up the paper he held it up so everyone could see. [#b62e11 "I want three more walls added to the Capital. We can hold all of our people within the city, but we can not feed them, nor can we supply even ourselves, we relly solly what we get from the farmlands between the Capital and the fortresses, but what were to happen say one of the mountain passes were to fall. We would starve out before the season would end. I want to build fields for us to survive on if we are ever to go through a siege."]
This plan seemed to surpise the commanders. Anjui had thought this through. He knew that the houses around him would push on his borders and hard. They could possible push right up to the Capital itself, but if they did that the assault would fail as the plans allowed for the citadel to be defended easily. It was placed around a single mountain it was called the Baerdaer Tylal, the Jewel Mountain. Inside they would build tunnels that allowed for them to escape to the country side far away from the city. but they would expand the walls from where it sat now with the citadel at the top of the mountain and the noble quater a bit farther down, with the commons half way up the mountain with a single pathway to the gate.
No instead he would add another wall a quater of the way from the bottom. This would seperate the commons from the soldiers. It would be a fall back defensive position, and be filled with houses of those who lived in the country side. Any free space would be used as land for farms. He would then build another wall at the base of the fortress used as another back defensce position. the land here would be used for army soldiers. Their armory, barracks, training grounds, stables, etc. Then a ring around the mountain would be dug out and a wall placed just outside of the ring as a sort of hidden trap. Another wall would be built inside the ring to block the inside from falling into the pit as well. The land between that wall and the base wall would be the farmland that the fortress itself would use to keep its self sustained. The wall would stand the tallest and thickest the Isle had ever seen. It would stand nearly one hundred feet high, and ten feet thick. The door would be forged from dwarven metal.
It was the plans that stunned not only the commanders, but it seemed Ado didn't understand Anjui's plan as it sat. [#b62e11 "The plan is simple. We will make the Capital Self sustaining, and from this point we will launch our invasions across the isle until each house is under our command."] Ado just looked at his brother Anjui returned the glance a smile upon his face. [#b62e11 "However we must complete these modifications before winter ends, as to bring my dream closer I must move our plans forward to spring."] This is what had drawn the most attention. All his commander's and his siblings eyes fell upon him in utter horror. Was the young king about to truly break tradition of the elven people and go to war with the other houses during the spring? The only person to know this answer was Anjui himself of course.
While he trusted his brother Ado, Anjui still had a feeling of unease when around his twin, it was like something was off about him and the male couldn't put his finger on it. The same with the rest of those close to him. He was their ruler now not their prince or their family. It meant what he decided was the final decision unless someone took the crown from his head and claimed it for themselves.
The morning had come to soon for Javi. It felt like he had just shut his eyes when he heard the chirp of the morning lark. They had a long journey ahead of them, but it would not be met just yet. Javi stood and stretched himself. Bending and shaking the prince awake Javi watched as the young male stood the bed clothing dropped to the floor revealing a bit to much for Javi to feel comfortable with. Turing three shades of red the male turned his back to his prince pointing only to the clothing that was on the bench folded. Before words could be exchanged the young elf left. Reclaiming his bow and arrow along with several different sized blades some curved, some straight, some angled, and a few with a mix of them. Replacing his cloak back on his body The male went out to look at the Tree that was placed within the temple some more.
Upon reaching the great tree Javi had placed his hand upon the clear trunk. It was like most other elven eternity trees. Taller then a normal tree, by several hundred thousand feet or so. The tree stood well over six miles from base to top. It's top probably had an ecosystem of its own growing, even creatures found naturally in the forest living within it. Of course he would only know of the rumors of the night elves taking and living on their eternity tree, but if that was true was only questionable. No one had seen a night elf sense their own people went into an isolation. The Teirar Maelolaer however seemed different. It's bark didn't have a wood or a grain texture, but more of a cold solid stone feel to it. It also seemed to resonate a sense of serenity, peace, tranquility. It was the silence that had drawn his attention to the tree into finer detail. The Tree itself wasn't clear like glass, but clear more like a crystal, or like a bunch of glass. So while the image on the other side could be seen, it still came more magnified then anything.
[#df24eb "Amazing isn't it?"] The voice of the high priestess surprised Javi and caused him to jump a bit. a giggle escaped her lips as she stepped around him from behind to stand to his right. [#df24eb "It's said Teirar Maelolaer is the only tree like itself. The only Eternal Tree that is unlike the others."] Looking to her the wood elf male just gave a smile and a silent nod. [#9dcc38 "That is of course if you do not count the Dwarven Eternal Tree of Duraz Undi they have placed within their Thrown city Gron Kazad. The Dwarven Stone Watcher tree has always been in Crown city, that will not change, but if legend is true the dwarves were blessed with the Eternity trees first and they gave us Elves ours upon a treaty signed between our two races."] The Priestess's eyes seemed to light up. [#df24eb "You know the people's history that is good. Our history does no good however if its not backed by facts."]
Javi returned to looking at the tree. [#9dcc38 "This is true great lady, but dawn is upon us, so Vyr and I must be getting prepared to leave to return to Soraer Thysaer. I am sure our king awaits your answer."] the priestess just waved it off. [#df24eb "He already has my answer. While you slept I sent an owl to deliver my reply, along with a request. Vyr will be returning to the Twisted woods, however you Javi will stay here within the Dreamwoods. With an army of wood elves at your back your king has commanded that you help us ward off the orcs that shall be swarming over our lands soon."]
Both confused and stunned javi turned to the priestess. Detecting no hints of decent or lies within her statement. she held up a single scroll like she knew he would question her about it, especially the young prince when he finally was told. Taking the scroll from her hands the seal upon it was authentic and the writing on the scroll was indeed in his king's hand, but it was also in Wood elf, so how the High priestess of the moon elves could read it confused him even more. Wanting to ask he handed it back, but with questionable eyes. [#df24eb "Yes I know your language. I am far older then I look. I remember the time when the Elven people were a single people, not this whole split up thing we know now. I also remember when we spoke elvish and had one unified people. Then I also remember the suffering from the day of the fall. Eci had betrayed us all..."] a shutter escaped from the priestess, but it did not dwelled as she exited the room calling back from the open doorway.
[#df24eb "Your army awaits you in the North Ranger. I expect great things from you."] It was those words that had seen Javi off and out of the temple, out of the capital and into the woods. instead of his normal mount under him he had a frostsaber like the moon elves to lead him to where he would meet with the rangers he would have under his command. The great cat seemed to know exactly where it was going as its ears twitched searching for any sounds it didn't recognize, but found none. Its speed faster then that of even a pack of worgs chasing pray. Perhaps that is why the frostsabers were deadly creatures even on their own, a pride would kill even a dragon if given the chance and if hungry enough.
Upon arrival the cat stopped dead at the edge of a ridge that overlooked the entire wood elf ranger army that would be under the elf. Getting down and collecting his things the tiger sped away back the way the pair had come from. Likely returning to the temple and its master the priestess. The elf had to sit down he was more then surprised now. His king had put him in charge of not only the men that would normally follow him, but the entire ranger corp within the army. Looking out across the field the tents were numerous and orderly. It was like looking at a field of barley. The patch of tents caused a gold tint to the green and brown background of the forest. it meant they were at least ten thousand strong fighters if not more.
The young elf looked out and saw several groups were returning to camp, some with supply wagons. He had guessed the king had summoned the army here instead of its normal destination. Each group would bring with them their own weaponry, armor, and supplies for not only themselves but their animals. And of course many would bring more supplies incase another group did not bring enough. Eyeballing the surrounding area Javi had though this was a perfect place to set up a defense. a ridge to their back, a river to their left, and a questionable forest to their right and a clearing to their front.
finding a pathway down he eventually made his way to the camp to find out that they didn't have ten thousand soldiers there, but instead held fifty thousand rangers from all across the Twisted forest.
Lunas had waited and waited, he could tell his men were growing impatient as they did so for the orcs. Perhaps their scouts had given them incorrect information. Not that they lied to them, but perhaps it was watching them head south they would head straight to the capital of course The tree was there that controlled the forest for the most part, but to get to it they would have to first face the legions that were here. Just as Lunas went deep into thought a warhorn had blown in front of him. It wouldn't be long now. Lunas looked to his left, then again to his right, and a quick glance behind him. He did this not to check to make sure his forces were ready, but to make sure the moral of his troops were at an all time high before going into a battle they may not come back from. His speech wasn't the best, and he probably could have done better had he been given proper time, but he needed to move his forces out and do so quickly. before the orcs got to far into the Dreamwoods.
It was then the first few orcs came over the hills across the clearing. Raising his sword to the sky Lunas had only started the warcry once again that would be answered with the elven troops to bang their weaponrys against their sheilds or their breast plates, anything to cause noise which was to draw the attention of the orcs. It had worked however as a bunch of horns blew off and a sea of black came across the hill charging at their forces. The elf raised his head to the sky and closed his eyes. [#9138cc "Great Goddess watch over us today."] returning his head to level and opening his eyes he raised his hand in the air and dropped it.
The first wave of giant arrows were released into the air. Attached to them were giant cloths that would land ontop of the enemy as they ran under the thing. Lunas held out his hand after replacing his sword in its sheath. Taking a bow from a person close by it was a simple long bow. Taking a single arrow Lunas had the thing lite on Fire. Aiming at the cloth that had just landed The elf aimed far above a normal range. Letting loose the flame arrow it had cought the bottom right corner of the cloth and instantly into an inforno the cloth had become turning the orcs under it into nothing but ash. Those that had escaped ran around catching other orcs on fire and the other cloths also bursted into flames.
[#9138cc "Paer shaerysi porylys."] The elf yelled as he clicked his heels on the armor around Solia his great war cat. the creature at first went a slow pace charging forward, but eventually it hit a fast run. Lunas of course still with his bow out shot several arrows into orcs heads as they charged forward. They wore very little armor, but once in a blood rage the only way to kill the creature was to cause damage to their brain or to cut off their head. The lines met and several orcs and elves bashed against each other. The battle seemed to cloud over as more arrows were launched into the air and covered patches of the orc horde that still swepped across the hills.
With only but a moments pause the young elf kept the fight up from the back of Solia. It however wasn't long before it looked like the elves would be over run that had rushed forward with him. [#9138cc "Paer os Kysia."] he screamed out. and with many calls back to his ears he knew that his men or at least most of them were still alive. [#9138cc "Fall back soldiers. Regroup with the others."] Slicing the head off several orcs in front of him Lunas had his war glaive now drenched in the thick black liquid of orc blood. blowing a whistle Lunas looked around while defending himself from axes and spears and swords of orcs. It was when groups of orcs went flying into the air their bodies in shreds that Lunas smiled.
Solia had jumped right onto an orc in front of lunas. Letting out a loud cry from her maw. it was answered by so many others across the field from the cats the elves would come to call friend. Some of the cats had stayed near the body of their riders, while others went on a rampage and tore through as many orcs as they could before being felled themselves. The orcs however turned tuck tail and ran back over the fields and to the hill the few originally started from. the moon elves themselves even rejoined the other legions in front of the cliff.
The young elf looked out across the field from the cliffside to the bodies, the stench wifted away by the strong breese, but the lingering thought of each one of these lives he could have saved by sending in the full force. [#9138cc "Captain, Send a message to the orcs. They can collect their fallen."] the man nodded and turned to do as he was told. [#9138cc "Before you go. Captain send out parties to collect our dead, The great cats as well. We do not need the orcs making a feast out of the fallen."] the captain nodded and several elves went and started collecting the dead.
Lunas watched the small party of elves reach the orc camp and return over the hill with orcs behind them with their own beasts of course they were headed to collect their dead as well. Lunas however had his men armored and blades at their sides incase the orcs tried something funny. [#9138cc "Soldier. I need all the commanders here after the funeral rights."] nodding the mesanger was off to also do what he was told.
Nightfall had come early that day. The moon was full and would be for at least another few days. The bodies had all been gathered. Lunas watched as the prohpet Maes preformed the last rights over the bodies. She slowly removed the armor of each elf and cat as she went over them. The dead smell finally started hitting some of the soldiers gathered around. You could always tell who the new ones were as they ran off and started to throw up their guts. The smell of a corpse even just a few hours old was that of rot and decaying flesh. Flies flew around them trying to catch whatever it was they could eats. Crows swored above head waiting for the living to depart, but that was not going to happen.
Across the way at the orc camp one could heard drums being beaten and a great fire glow brightly. They had defiled the forest even more by cutting down trees to make it and they would pay for it dearly. The young elf stepped forward once Maes was done. [#9138cc "Kaer Kydaer Shi vaeres saeri tolael sai os aestali tae o taesor saes, thys ail saes tholar tystael si thyl shalaelia shor cylys."] The words of the ancient burial rights still stayed with the elf, as they were the same words spoken upon the day his father had been brought back home.
[#9138cc "Great Goddess, We return these children to your embrace. Cherish them, for in their final moments they fought breavly with honor."] Raising his head to the moon tears began to fall from the commanders eyes, but why? he didn't know any of the dead personally; he also knew that it was going to happen. This was War and war always came at the cost of lives, so why the tears? It wasn't for the lives that were lost, it wasn't for how many of them there were. It was the fact that it fell upon his decision that caused them to die.
Returning his head to its regular position Lunas raised his hand up. [#9138cc "Return them to the forest. The moon's children shall be honored by being apart of the forest their decendants shall live in. And they shall watch over them, forever."] Shortly after the funeral rights all four commanders once again gathered up, Malos rubbing his eyes tired for sleep. Maes seemed wide awake, but freshly bathed as her hair clung to her robe's back and left water to it. The king and Lunas both seemed to be the ones more prepared for it then anything. [#7f2f30 "Why call a meeting so late Lord Lunas?"]
Putting his hands on the table that now sat between the four of them he looked down at the larger map of the forest. Minature soldier figurines standing on it. [#9138cc "The scouts have reported in, More orcs mass on the northern border just outside of our forest. They mass in the Scouching sands. Its also just came in the orcs we now fight are far larger then we originally expected. They have amassed one hundred thousand orcs."] The three looked at each other then to their commander. [#6d3b87 "What are we going to do about that? That is at least ten times our size, and all they have to do is keep picking at us. We might destroy this force, but the one gathering in the north will surely be the end of us."]
Nodding Lunas held up a scroll in his hand. [#9138cc "This is a letter from the High Priestess. She has ordered us back to the capital. She wants us to also take anyone on our way back to the capital. She wishes to abandon the northern part of the forest."] [#18a4d8 "Well then we must obay her."] the other three looked to the Prophet. [#7f2f30 "We could go to the Crystal Fortress, but that would mean leaving the capital to be burnt to the ground as well."] the group chit chatted, but lunas stayed silent and listened. All of them agreed with the Priestess. Slamming his fist on the table Lunas busted out. [#9138cc "We are not abandoning the people of these woods to suffer the orcs. I am staying right here until the day I die, or until the orcs are dead."]
It was the silence that had given him his answer, he could not expect the others to feel the same way.
The next morning the field of battle while cleared between the two parties was still bloody patches of blood from both sides still lingered on the grass. The ashes of the burnt orcs and the curtains slowly fluttered away like buttterflies in the wind. Lunas looked at his own troops standing behind him. It was his legion that had stayed. The others had done as commanded as retreated from the field to return to the capital. It would be a slaughter that much the elf commander knew, but his people wouldn't give up so easily and put up a much needed fight. He also knew that at the end of the fight the Orcs would ravage the field of battle and eat if not desecrate the elven bodies, including those of the cats that would fall.
Leaning down into the cat's back Lunas hugged Solia he believed to be one last time. [#9138cc "I am sorry Solia. I truly am. I never gave you that pat down like I said I would."] her answer back was but a soft gruff sound that resonated through her body and into Lunas.
Family was his lifeline. Ado felwood was one of but eight children to his parents. And one of the sixteen or so grandchildren his grandparents had in the elven lands. Of course that would mean that Ado and Anjui would more than likely have to face one of their relatives and perhaps very soon even. Ado had stat down next to his brother, but his focus seemed to be upon the crown he now held in his hands. Perhaps the Burden of being king to the house was something Anjui had to yet wrap his head around. Ado only perked up when he saw that Anjui had turned too looked at him. Their eyes met for a moment, and yet Anjui still could not draw words.
It was a moment of silence between the two of them, but Ado spoke first, Words rattled around in his head what is it that he could say to his brother that would allow him to understand what he was doing was far to important then to seek redemption from their parents. If it meant war with them then so be it, the war would come eventually between them anyway to unite the Crescent Isle anyway. [#f5990a “Brother you must sleep. War will be coming to our doors within a few moons, and we must prepare for it.”] Anjui only nodded as an answer.
Ado watched as his brother left the crown upon the chair he just vacated. Looking at the thing it was a simple matter, they would have their head butted with at every turn from this day. It was the events that unfolded earlier that would be the cause of it. Anjui had taken over the house and would be the ruler. Picking up the crown Ado held it in his hands running his fingers around the weaving from the crown. [@f5990a “You rule the house now brother, is it you who shall wear the crown of our people.”]
Seeing his brother pause at the door cause Ado to smile, the same devilish grin his brother had upon his face. Looking to the doorway Ado watched as his brother turned his gaze fell just over his left shoulder, his younger twin called back [#b62e11 “Yes brother, in time Taerael Airi will be under one banner again, The Sentinel will be restored.”]
His brother had gone to bed, however Ado had stayed awake and was already making plans for the rest of the nobility that were yet within their walls. [#f5990a “Guards I want the Wall Captains to be summoned. A war council shall be held.”] [b “Lord, Its far too early season to hold a war council. The season of war is but several months away.”] [#f5990a “Yes I know this, however we must discuss this plan. I am giving you an order, now carry it out.”]
The soldier saluted the prince and disappeared. A war council was usually held within the Spring time, usually it also consisted of the generals and forces they would send out into the field of battle not under the command of a royal, however Felwood had no force they could use against the other houses. Its why the family had always kept a good diplomatic standing with the rest of the houses on the Isle. [#f5990a “I need the war room prepared.”]
Several servants nodded and dashed off out of the room. It was shortly after they had disappeared the four elves had come into the room, fully dressed in armor and covered to the nail with weaponry, but their eyes were yet showed signs of sleep, Groggy and sluggish they seemed to all stumble to the table they now would hold the council of war upon.
[#ae0f1c “Lord Ado, what is the meaning of this.”] Ado held up his hand, [#F5990a “Leave us please. Anyone who is not given permission to be here you are dismissed.”] [#ae0f1c “Lord Ado What is the meaning of calling this meeting? And out of season?”] The prince yet still held up his hand. [#f5990a “Wait but a single moment.”] Having the servants bring all the maps and supplies from the war room to the chambers they now sat in the young male watched them all as they left. [#ae0f1c “Proceed.”] The four new elves all looked at the prince with confusion in their eyes. [#c85b88 “Everyone is asleep, and so should you be Prince Ado, now what is the meaning of this meeting?”]
[#f5990a “To answer All your questions, first I must ask you one question. Your Loyalties are where?”] All the captains looked confused at first. [#3c6877 “As always they are with the crown that sits in the Throne.”] The elf that had spoken was Captain Eidosar Shar, the West wall Captain. His eyes drew to Ado’s, but his hand was motioned to the crown that sat upon the cushion where Anjui had placed it. The golden Wreath crown gem glistened in the starlight as the night yet finished and dawn’s first light appeared across the land. The captains and even Ado’s eyes trailed his finger and looked at the gem itself.
Ado’s eyes returned to the captains now in front of him, each one dressed in the felwood armor they were given. [#f5990a “House Felwood has a new ruler. The young Prince Anjui has taken the Crown and the house for himself. I will see that you all give your Loyal Oath to him as he wears the crown upon his head.”] The captains all turned their face’s held their both surprise and empathy. Why though? Why would the captains be worried about what happened to the rest of the Royal family? They were given power based off their skill and until their death they would hold it. They were sworn to the crown, and whomever wore it would give them orders.
[#f5990a “My orders to you are simple captains. Gather up your legions here in the capital. I shall have all the men give their oaths to my brother or be removed like that of the nobility yet still within our walls.”] Before the captains could speak Ado held up his hand and in his most commanding voice. [#f5990a “Do this and do it quickly. And without question.”] The guards had just left and the war room supplies had just been cleared out when Anjui had reappeared in the doorway.
Taking to the ruler’s chair Anjui had just summoned forth the nobility, and the rest of the Felwood family. [#b62e11 “Bring the guests in.”] Ado watched as his brother would look over each noble as they came into the room. Agonizingly each house was lead into the hall once again, guards included. Like his brother; Ado’s eyed the nobility in front of them they were still on High alert and would not let their guards down.
[#b62e11 “Hence forth House Thaelyr is no more. These lands now belong to Masjhol”] Surprised by his brother’s words Ado looked to his brother. He wanted to speak, however Anjui kept his words going. [#b62e11 “We shall rule differently than any other house, but not without reservation.”]
Seeing his brother nod again all the guards stood aside from the nobility and in between his brother and the others. Of course the guards were still tense and the guards from the other houses all between their rulers and the guards for his brother. [#b62e11 “You all have until dusk to leave these lands, if you are not gone by said time you will be dealt with like any other Trespassers.”] Standing from his own seat Ado watched as his brother finished his words. [#f5990a “If you are not gone before dusk I will have to release Shor Cel upon you.”]
The Wild Hunt. It was a series of statues of elven heroes of the past brought to life by magic. They would hunt their target down until either their target was dead or they hit the border. While many of the heroes were believed to just be stone carvings into the outer wall of the capital, they did not know that Ado and Anjui both could easily bring them to life with but a single drop of their blood, but they could as the magic that coursed through the stone was the same magic that ran through their blood.
Betrayal that is what he had just done to his entire family, and yet it seemed to not affect him in the slightest. Looking still at the gem within the crown Anjui had only seen his twin out the corner of his left eye. Perhaps it was a good thing his brother had joined them. The young ruler had no sense of how to handle the matter. He knew the houses around him once allies would now turn against him and the house he just formed, so to keep the home he now ruled meant he would have to face against so many houses, including the possibility of his own family. First they would have to reinforce the fortress to make them suitable so they could withstand a war season.
Turning to face his twin Anjui looked deep into his brother’s ice blue eyes, Perhaps it was the thought they could pierce through his soul that kept the young king from having words with his brother. [#f5990a “Brother you must sleep. War will be coming to our doors within a few moons, and we must prepare for it.”] Anjui nodded. Placing the crown on the seat as he vacated it. [#f5990a “You rule the house now brother, is it you who shall wear the crown of our people.”] Anjui paused a moment at the door his family had been lead through but a few moments ago.
[#b62e11 “Yes brother, in time Taerael Airi will be under one banner again, The Sentinel will be restored.”] Anjui waved his brother goodnight and returned to his room at the top of the citadel. The bright red wood door standing out from the white alabaster stone walls. Placing his hand on the wood the young elf could feel the grain of it as he ran his hand down the doorway. The thing had aged very well along with that of the entire city itself. [#b62e11 “Great Fathers, I must ask for your aid, The future is unclear, but the Gods have demanded we cleanse the land.”]
With silence following his words the young male pushed open his bedroom door. walking in the male looked around the room. It was a medium sized room considering many within the fortress itself. Its design was simple four walls, ceiling, floor, and a single window. The walls were white just like the walls itself, only decorated with a single bed, a vanity, a desk, and a single door which would lead into the study just off his room. Stepping to the bed it like the room was a simple thing dressed in white sheets hand woven by the common crafters. The bottom blanket was a soft fur from the white lions of Oshus region. It was also scented with a pine needle forest scent to remind one of where the creature had come from. On top of that was a simple green blanket as well. Stripping himself of clothing Anjui settled himself into the covers. Drawing them up to his chest Anjui had a hard time to fall asleep, but he did eventually fall asleep.
It was a dreamless night, but was full of nightmares instead. Images of the dark god Lesharc seemed to haunt them vividly. Whispering dark things to him, showing him images of the dying tree the white stag had told them about. [b “Your world will be corrupted, There is no stopping it. Join us and you will be spared. Join us and you and your kind will have rule of the earth once again beside the chaotic forces I shall unleash upon the world.”] Anjui only covered his ears, but it didn’t work the whispers still came in his head.
Waking with a scream Anjui was drenched in sweat. The sickly sweet smell covered his noise, but his skin crawled like the god was still touching him, rubbing his hands on the man’s body. Removing the covers the young male went to the vanity and put water into the bowl. Removing a cloth the male began to wash himself. While he would be bath later like all nobility it was a matter of pride that would affect him. He was after all ruler now and he had to keep the appearance of one. That meant he needed to have respect from the people.
Looking at himself in the mirror Anjui could tell one thing for sure he needed to get the elves united. Leshrac would be sending forces to make sure the Sentinel was forever corrupted. Perhaps soon, but it would not matter. The noble houses would not see their people under one king again, and yet that is what Anjui aspired as his dream. To reunite not just the elves on the Crescent Isle, but all of them across the world, their Empire would be vast. Soraer Thysaer, Paestyr, Taerael Airi, even the Bondryli Shyr.
It wasn’t until Anjui looked to the window that he realized that it was once again the crack of Dawn that peaked through the peaks of the mountains that would call their land borders and that soon would change. Taking the stairs back to the throne room Anjui looked out to the sunlight from within the hall. The doors had been broken, but the main frame still stood clearly for all to see.
Nodding to the guard anjui spoke [#b62e11 “Bring the guests in.”] Of course he meant the nobility that had attended the festival from last night. Slowly each house was lead into the hall once again, guards included. Anjui eyed them over a few times before speaking to the group. [#b62e11 “Hence forth House Thaelyr is no more. These lands now belong to Masjhol”] pausing a moment the young prince looked specifically at his parents. [#b62e11 “We shall rule differently than any other house, but not without reservation.”]
Nodding once again to the guards who all stood aside to stand between Anjui and the group the male spoke the words. [#b62e11 “You all have until dusk to leave these lands, if you are not gone by said time you will be dealt with like any other Trespassers.”]
It was a long trip for Lavi and his travelling partner the prince Vyr. The two elves had encountered no more orcs while traveling across their woods to the east, but that didn't mean orcs wouldn't march on their woods as well to destroy it. They had to act fast, and while Wood elves were far more vigilant on their lands and far more deadly in the woods then their elven brothers and sisters it was what made many of the other races avoid the wood elf forest of Soraer Thysaer. It was named the Twisted forest as the wood elves were forever killing anything that came into their woods without permission, even their own kind.
They all lived under rule of one. Their King Shol, the first of the wood elf lords to unite all the wood elf families under has banner and would hold it true until the very end of his reign. Even Vyr would not challenge his father's ruling unless it was with the intent to possible be killed for treason or banished from their lands. Lavi did not dare to challenge his king's rule and many of the elves did not wish to try and challenge him for the right to rule either as he was the most skilled swordsmen they had. Deadly with a bow, and even more so with their elven crafted blade he was like a one man assault unit.
Lavi had cherished his prince, perhaps a bit to much even for his own good, beyond that of even a guard would to the prince. Lavi knew it was not allowed, however the thing is the elves allowed for different things to happen in the past so the one he had now would be but no different. It was forbidden however as King Shol would not allow his child to marry a lowly elf. The rules of such a tradition was lost to history for the wood elves and would remain that way if he could.
It wasn't long before the two elves reached the edge of the Twisted Forest. The only thing that separated their lands from that of the moon elven forest of Paestyr, The Dreamwoods was but a single river. The river however would not be spotted on any map, but instead be found as a border between the two. Like the moon elves the wood elves bordered the Mysol Paeraes, only to the Northeastern part of their country. Their border shared with the desert however was far more vast then that of the moon elves, but the forests claimed by both were of equal size. It would take a few weeks it seemed to go from the wood elf capital to the border, but the trip was overall successful.
The trip from the border between the two realms to the moon elf capital Bali Toria was a faster part of the trip; it took only six days. The vailed city was famous even outside of the forest itself, as many traders from the other races ended up there and called in a marvel of its own. Considering that the capital itself was the second largest known elven city in the world, with constantly full of life Bali Toria was a widely held jewel to the people. All over people flocked to get blessings from the Goddess of the moon and the other companions, but that wasn't all it held close at hand the largest known Eternity tree on landmass known as the Teirar Maelolaer.
The crystal sentinal was rumored to be the only tree to be completely see through. Crystal clear like it's not even there. The only give away that the tree actually was there is the faint light it gave off of itself, and the Deep vivid royal blue coloration to the leaves at the top of the tree. To see it up close Javi considered it a work of wonder, of course the High priestess would not give away the secrets as to how the tree became Clear as it did when all the others held similar traits to one another with slight differences.
It was however the voice of the High Priestess that pulled Javi from looked at the tree itself which was in the middle of the temple grounds to Eluna. [#df24eb "Hail Wood elf brothers. I have heard you come from afar."] Javi bowed to the lady and Vyr followed suit, in which they were returned with a bow from the priestess as well. [#df24eb "Come follow me and we can discuss the matter of why you have come over a meal."] It was then a rumbling noise came from both wood elf stomachs and they understood they had eaten very little sense their departure. It was then the creatures they took up to riding started rumbling under them as well in displeasure.
Dismounting both elves quickly unstrapped their bags, saddles, and the reigns from their cat like mounts and let the creatures disappear into the forest. Both Javi and Vyr knew they would come back when called upon. [#df24eb "This way if you please."] taking up a steady pace the two followed the great lady into the temple, around the tree's base and into a single room chamber.
[#df24eb "Can we have food brought for the guests please."] called the priestess to whomever stood outside. Before either male could speak however the lady put up her finger in a pause moment. As food was brought in the room was as dead silence. It wasn't until the servant left and the door closed behind them the priestess allowed her hand to return to her side. [#df24eb "Now tell me. Prince Vyr, Ranger Javi what has brought you here to Bali Toria?"]
In-between scarfing down bites of bread and cheese the two spoke. [#108417 "There is a massive army..."] [#9dcc38 "Of course gathering in the north..."] [#108417 "They will be coming down across the Mysol Paeraes..."] [#9dcc38 "And soon.."] The priestess nodded. [#df24eb "go on."] pausing for a moment both the prince and the ranger took long gulps of whatever liquid was in their cups. One could have given them liquid poison and they wouldn't have cared as long as it was liquid, no instead it was a refreshing glacier water likely from the pool close by. [#9dcc38 "They will push into Paesstyr and burn it as they go. The orcs are but a single force moving in a grand war that is going to happen, but first they need to destroy us and separately, otherwise our forces combined will be to great for them to fight."]
The lady didn't flinch or move or show any signs of emotion when she was being told. [#df24eb "I have sent four legions to the north to deal with invading orcs, but reports tell me its only warbands gathering around."] The prince nodded but went on. [#108417 "Yes, but these war bands are all coming together instead of fighting one another. They are going to create one giant warband under a single orc who will lead them. A gathering has already happened and many of them travel across the desert now to join with their fellow orcs north of here."]
It was then the priestess eyes went wide. [#9dcc38 "This can not be allowed High Priestess. you must gather all your legions and march them north, a war is coming and it will not be stopped so easily. We must show force this time and expand the forests to cover the southern half of Abor and help the other races here to insure that war stays away from our homelands."] The priestess stood up a smile playing acorss her face. [#df24eb "Of course. I shall send out the call to our army at once, but you both must be tired from the long journey rest and stay for the night. You can ride out to return to your king with the news that we shall join them in the war to come."]
Vyr gladly accepted the invitation to stay the night, but Javi was scares about it, hesitant perhaps, but it seemed off that the priestess would shrug off such a thing. Javi was cautious, but he also accepted the invitation to stay for the simple fact that someone had to stay and watch Vyr to make sure the prince didn't get himself killed, or worse turned into a reason for war.
It seemed days on the march did not damage or weaken the resolve of the moon elf army. They would rest a few minutes every couple of hours, allowing their wagon animals and war mounts and the soldiers to rest, but otherwise they pushed on. The capital Bali Toria lay far behind them. The Vale city was home to the moon elf royalty, including the largest known Temple to Eluna the moon goddess. They had long passed elven civilization as the walls of Bali Toria were the farthest northern moon elf settlement. It was forever expanding with the moon elf territories, at least that was up until the most recent discovery. Just outside the forest lay the Mysol Paeraes. The Scorching Desert lay at the most northern part of the moon elf territories and they would expand no farther as to push into the desert was to invoke the wrath of the gods and goddesses. They had for the most part kept to the forest as it was, forcing the other races out somewhat. Of course they had allowed fawns, and the more neutral or friendly races to stay, but the orcs, goblins, and trolls had to go of course.
It was on one of the breaks that Lunas had been called for. [#6d3b87 "Lunas. The other Commanders are setting up a war council."] nodding Lunas was petting his giant nightsaber behind the left ear which had caused her to give the cat's version of a pur. the low rumbling from her belly made it seem like she was growling. The moon elf captain stood there however waiting. [#9138cc "Very well. I am on my way."] lifting the great cats head off his lap the creature's eye opened up to appear at Lunas with both curiosity and disappointment.
[#9138cc "I will give you a proper rub down later Solia. For now I am being called."] The cat understood of course, as it seemed the thing would go with him to it. Like many of the commanders to the moon elves the mounts were fierce fighters and more loyal then a soldier. the creature strode next to Lunas as he made his way across the makeshift camp. While they weren't stopping for a sleep time, they would rest for a bit, and have a meal while here along with feed the animals. The ox teams especially sense they carried the heavy loads of supplies that traveled with the army across the lands, and they would need to be at full strength when they reached the Desert, as there they would make camp, potentially even going through the desert to face the orcs in their own territories.
In the center of the camp stood three moon elves of reputation and renounced. The first to draw attention was Captain Calos Malos. He was announced to the group as Commander of the Phoenix Legion. A newly formed legion, many of their forces came from the personal guard of the priestess and the royal family. While the other commanders didn't approve of the decision they could not deny the ability the royal crest had upon the moral of the men, and even more so to see the crest of the priestess with them as well gave them confidence the Goddess was watching them. [#9138cc "Commanders. I am here, what is this about?"]
The first to talk was an older male. his features showed his age unlike most elves he had wrinkles upon his face like that of a much older generation, his hair turned from its natural dark black or brown to a snow white like the moon. His skin sun kissed with a permanent tan tone to it. [#2b18d8 "Reports are flowing in that Orcs are raiding the northern border villages. Its there most of their forces are found, however Orc warbands have been spotted in our northwestern borders as well."] nodding Lunas went and looked at the last commander.
a Young elf priestess, supposedly the daughter to the high Priestess who gathered the forces of the moon elves together for the call of war against the orcs in their lands once again. She was said to be a prophet, a seer to their people, but more so it was her presence that inspired the army more so then having even the king here on the field of battle with them. [#18a4d8 "What the king says is true. The wood elves can only stop so many orc bands coming from the west, Because of this we believe stationing our army in the northwestern corner of our nation will allow us to launch preemptive strikes against the orcs who came into the forest."]
[#9138cc "Captain, what do you think of this plan?"] the male just stood there looking over the map. [#6d3b87 "I believe we need to place our legions in separate parts of the forest, the orcs are coming in at the wood elf territories, the northeastern border along with raiding the northern villages. We need to protect our people, while keeping out any other potential new threats."] Lunas looked across the group. He knew the king would have a plan of his own, but he needed to hear everyone else's. Of course Lunas was appointed head of the campaign, and so his word was final, even over the kings.
[#9138cc "Tell me Lord King, what is your thoughts?"] the older man seemed to pause a moment thinking over his words before speaking. [#2b18d8 "I believe splitting our army apart into the legions is a good idea, but we would have to split one of those legions in half to march from the north down south chasing the orcs that are already in our lands we would have to pincer then into making a mistake. If we just chase them down eventually they will reach a big city and either destroy it which will cause great devastation to our people. Or they will reach the Teirar Maelolaer and burn it. If the Crystal Sentinel burns so will the rest of the forest if it doesn't decay first trying to heal the tree. I believe also while having a legion on the wood elf border and another on our northern border is a good idea, to place them in a single spot each would leave many parts wide open. We need to keep a constant patrol on these parts."]
Nodding Lunas looked down at the map in front of him. [#9138cc "Very well. The plan...."] before he could speak any farther a messenger came screaming across to camp. [b "Orcs sighted to the west of the camp. More came in from the wood elf territories. A massive army seems to be forming and the orcs in our territories are joining up with them."] Taking in the new information Lunas nodded. [#9138cc "I want the soldiers to be prepared to move out. Maes, Malos I want scouts from each of you sent out. I want an assessment of numbers on our enemies. before we go into a battle. My Lord Shol I would like for your scouts to find a good ambush location, the more High ground we have the better for our battle plan. If we can pin them into a valley or a ravine would be the best, even a place where we can reach High ground. I want this done before any more plans are made."]
The group nodded and set off to work all giving their orders to the men. Lunas even gave the orders of his own to his men. He wanted groups of ten patrolling the northern border while they faced the larger threat to the west. They couldn't have orcs sneaking up on them while they were fighting another foe, an attack from behind and front would destroy moral potentially. [#9138cc "If any orcs come into our territories from the north I want to know right away. The sooner I get this information the quicker we can react to it. Do not engage the enemy if they come, no matter if its just a few of them or not."] While it meant less men he would be taking into battle, it also meant less possibility for them to get ambushed themselves.
He would sacrifice having one hundred men in his legion which while a small number could be the tip of the scale and balance in the favor of the enemy now. The decision weight would be heavy to carry if they lost many lives to the fight all because he was being overly cautious. Those one hundred would be paired in ten to patrol the northern border each group had a mile wide patrol area they had to keep an eye on, so while their border was small it was still a target that could be hit if they weren't paying attention.
Later during the day the men all stood ready for battle, their commanders all checking the men armor and weapons. The beasts even seemed ready for battle as their armor rattled and clanked as they moved around. [#9138cc "Legions of the Tyl aer listen to me. Look to your left."] the elves seemed to listen to Lunas's command without question. [#9138cc "Look to your right."] the soldiers all turned their head to the other side. [#9138cc "Understand not all of you will return to your homes in the coming of days. Your death will not be in vain, the orcs have invaded our homeland, and caused terror among the villages, and wish to destroy our forest. The Goddess has called upon us to put a stop to this. If you fall know you will be in the hunting grounds of the Goddess with her at your side. Now Let us make the Orcs pay for every inch of the forest they have touched with their filth. The High Priestess will see them from our lands, but before she can I will see them gone."]
an Uproar of cheers came from the soldiers now standing in front of Lunas as he stood there speaking to them. [#9138cc "Paer shaerysi porylys."] Lunas screamed at the army and in return they screamed it back at him. Turning on his great cat Lunas patted her mid section with his hind legs and the army moved forward. They would have the advantage as they would choose the field of battle and know it well. The choice was the Rolling hills of the Carith province. It was the area just south of where the orcs gathered. They would cut off their reinforcements from within the forest itself, while laying an ambush for the orcs when they moved south towards the capital.
The terrain was an easy overlay. Lunas and his legion stood in the middle of the battle line. To his left sat the king on his white snowsaber and his legion made mostly of Calvary, with a mix of swords. To Lunas's right was Captain Calos and his newly formed legion. mostly consisting of halberds and spears. Then behind them was Lady Maes with the archers and mages. Their backs to the cliffs. On top of the cliffs sat ballista and Arbiters. both siege type weapons that would shoot large arrow type projectiles. The arbiters would throw six medium sized arrows, while the ballista would throw one giant arrow. both would inflict damage as the enemy came charging at them. now all there was to do was wait, but where was the enemy at? They should have been marching south by now? where they waiting on more forces before trying anything? Perhaps the elven army had been spotted already and if that was the case their ambush was already screwed even before being launched.
No that wasn't it. Orcs weren't smart enough to send out scouts, no they must have had a dispute between who would lead them all into the south. It would not surprise the young elf if that was the cause of the delay orcs didn't like listening to those who they could kill. Of course that required a show of strength usually in the form of a battle to the death between the current leader and that of the challenger, or well any challengers. It could go as a free for all battle with all of them in the ring, or it could go one on one until only one victor stood out among them all. Usually the first was chosen simple to appease their blood god.
Watching the guests closely Ado had noticed it all seemed to procced smoothly. The public talk of seasons passing, harvests, and festival planning, even the recent raiding of the goblins and the tactics many used to deal with them. It seemed the elves had no problem talking about decent things when around others, but Ado wasn't interested at all with those minor things it was more the side room and dark corner talks that had drawn his attention to many of the guests. Perhaps it was his super sensitive hearing that allowed him to pick up on many of the conversations, or his keen ability to fixate on a person and hear them clearly like they were standing next to him.
Many of the Nobility talked more in private about allies of houses and potential declarations of war upon other houses. Trade agreements, bargains for land or use of an army or navy. There was even more darker talk of marriages. To elves to marry off a family member to another house was a private matter, as it would show the public and even the other houses what house could call another as allies. Ado knew this well and it was a good show in public that his Grandfather had married his parents. While the Thaelyr family was not considered high nobility, due to only being of house rank fifteen. Their mother's original house of Maser was a very high house, considering they were house rank one and have held that position for quite some time. Below them was houe Verdia. which while ruled currently by Lady Saer Verdia. The oldest of the Thaelyr family were to be wed into the house to the Verdia heir. The oldest Taraern would be known as Taraern Verdia upon his marriage. His twin Bastaer would marry into the third ranked house, House Per, he would upon his marriage be known as Bastaer Per. fitting they would go to different houses.
Their mother had hoped to strength house Thaelyr's position by marriage their royal line off to other houses, and potentially one day have all the top houses under their name, of course that would be long in the making as that would require many nobility to yet see house Thaelyr under their mother's rule. While she was a figure head and probably the public ruling, it was actually their father Lord Systar Thaelyr who ruled the house.
Many eyes were scanning around when Ado was watching, many looked up to the Royal family and words formed, but Ado could only pick up minor things such as how many there were and what was their mother plan? That is what drew the young prince's attention to himself. What was his mother's intention for the rest of the siblings? She could marry them all off to other houses and have her youngest child she was carrying now to take over the house, but that would yet require her to strength the bond between her children, as they could still yet wage war upon each other for the same reasons many nobles do now. Money, land, power, resources.
It was then the sounds of music came across the young male's ears which had caused them to perk up. He couldn't pick up any more talks besides the ones he could hear clearly and that was only of the nobility once again returning to public talks, and if it wasn't public talks it was the nobility asking each other for a dance here and there or asking for a refill upon their drink. Servants scuffling about and the nobility had stood up and so did Ado and his family. It was then the tables and seats had all been moved to the outside of the room. of course it was time for dancing. It wouldn't be a festival without dancing involved. It was then the music had drowned out everything else, and so Ado watched as the nobility glided around the floor just like swans on a lake, if that lake was as dark as the night sky and as passively bright as a thousand stars.
The dancing and music continued for what seemed a long while before the door's busted open with a bang upon the twin iron doors hitting the walls behind them. A single knight in white stepped forward, fully armored head to toe Ado turned his face to look at his family, but none of them acknowledge his presence only watched as the knight proceeded forward. Ado's attention turned back to the knight when the Captain behind him shouted. [b "State your purpose here."] the knight seemed to pause for but a second before continuing his slow pace towards the end of the room.
It was only upon the knight reaching farther into the room that the captain said something else. [b "Stop or you will be put to death."] This once again paused the knight for a little bit, but not completely. continuing he seemed determined to finish whatever he came here for. It was upon him reaching halfway down the hall that the Captain gave the order for his men to stop the knight, but he only swatted them away like little kids did with just about anything. Going for his own blade Ado just gripped the wooden handle of his fake blade. Just as Ado was about to have the servant fetch his blade Anjui had already sent a servant to receive his own.
It was then Ado watch his twin brother stand and step in the way of the knight as he kept his dreaded foot falls towards the end of the hall where the family sat. [#b62e11 "Enough."] the young male wanted to grab his twin and drag him back to his chair, but he could not he was frozen in his own chair and it confused him. Why was he so frightened of this single knight? Was it the fact he beat so many of their guard that had him scared? no that wasn't it. It was the fact this knight had gotten through their guard on the wall above the gate, through several patrols, and even through the guard placed upon the hall with ease that had scared him most. And now he would watch as his twin fought the man single combat.
[#b62e11 "what is it you want?"] Anjui would get to the point without bloodshed it seemed. The knight stopped dead a few feet from the noble that now stood between his family and the knight. The knight's gaze yet the noble in front of him, but all eyes were drawn to his hand as it pointed to their older sister, Shaelia Thaelyr. [#b00c19 "I have come for what is mine."] silent a moment the knight's voice drew in a breath to let out more words. Anjui's eyes even followed the man's finger to gaze right at his sister. [#b00c19 "My bride, as was promised."] Ado and Anjui's eyes both went back to the knight.
The click of metal coming out of it's sheath drew the rest of the room's attention as the white figure pulled his claymore blade and dropped into a battle stance with the words pouring out [#b00c19 "Any who stand in my way shall meet their end."] Every noble in the room shuffled on their feet careful not to trip over their own feet or others as they backed up almost being on top of the table now at the edge of the room. The male's eyes never left the knight half expected his brother to move as well, but what dawned upon him that Anjui didn't move was the knight turning to the family and spoke clearly. [#b00c19 "Watch as your child dies now."] Ado stood from his chair as the knight swung his blade down and threw up dust from the floor connecting with his blade. Anjui's fast reaction had allowed him to dodge the blade.
Watching as the fight went by it was but a few seconds. At first nothing seemed to move, but with the words his brother spoke of getting to their sister Ado had the servant retreive his blade as well incase Anjui needed help. Now focused on the battle more so the knight inflicted the first wound, but it seemed it was intentional. He nearly took off the young male's left hand which forced him to switch to his right. The knight however got cocky [#b00c19 "Give up, you will never beat me."] It was with those words the servant had returned and placed Ado's own blade in his hands.
His head whipped around however hearing Anjui give out a warcry and charged the knight. Forcing the man's blade out of his grasp as it dug into his shoulder. Anjui landed a deadly blow with his rapier. Piercing the man through the right side into his lung and heart and out of his left side just below his armpit. He however seemed to take the end of the battle as nothing more then a scratch to his person, that was until Anjui withdrew the blade from him. It had forced the man to stop fighting and hold himself upright. All the eyes in the room watched as the knight stood there for several more minutes, but once he fell to his knees the room seemed to ease a little bit. It was the man's body falling face forward into the marble of the floor that the nobility began to shout and scream over one another.
Looking around Ado's gaze fell upon his sisters, whom was focused on their mother. Her voice drew everyone's attention to silence. [#1ba77f "Lords, Ladies, Please calm yourself. It was a minor incident that shall be taken care of."] while the yelling and whispers became quiet one voice was heard. It was that of Lord Seilaes Maser from house Stardust. [#103dbc "Tell us then Lady Thaeyr, how is it a single knight got past your guards and into your home with not a single warning, not a sound, nothing?"] Anjui could tell this would become an uproar and no one would wish to be an ally to the house again, but he had to act fast.
Ado's attention was more focused on the nobles who were once again starting to yell, but out of all of it his brother's voice drowned them out. [#b62e11 "The mark of the Templar is upon this man's armor."] The Templar, they were the guards to the Aeraesar Maelolaer, The Eternal Sentinel. the elven tree of life upon the lands they claimed. It was to the south of where they now stood and upon its own isle. [#103dbc "How can this be? No Templar is allowed to leave the grounds unless permission from the Highest order is given, and that is only given by the king. We haven't had a king in centuries. Not sense the time of Eci."]
Ado like the rest of his siblings looked to their mother for answers yet even in her eyes was confusion. Turning his attention once again to the nobility it was Anjui standing up walking back to his seat that had kept Ado's attention. What was it that he was planning to do? seeing the look of determination on his brother's face it was the silk voice that came from Anjui that once again held the room at silence. [#b62e11 "Here me Lords and Ladies of Taerael Airi. The Crescent Isle is under threat; Allow my brother and I to go to the Shaeraer Saesti. The Blessed Temple will give us the answers we need to understand why this templar left their post on the isle."]
[#652376 "How can we take your word for it? The felwood family would rather lie and keep their position then admit they had a Templar here on the grounds the entire time ready to kill us all."] [#42f5e8 "Careful where you Throw your accusations Aelori, for all we know it could have been you who had the Templar with you."] [#652376 "You must be in league with the Felwoods Myrdar, why else would you defend them so readily?"] slowly the room once again erupted into screaming and yelling, only it was far different then before this was shouts. This time war was being called for, as the Templar were one thing no one would dare to use, and even less likely then mercenaries from the other races, but yet here lay one dead. Ado's eyes fell upon the body and back to his brother. He must have been planning something. his eyes caught movement from the edge of his vision and so Ado turned his head to the interior of the room again, but saw nothing. That was until the door's once again seemed to stand wide open.
It was then the room fell silent as a deep earthly voice could be heard. [#2ca30f "Silence All of you."] Looking around the room all the elves stopped once their eyes hit the doorway. Another figure yet appeared within the frame of it to the outside world. The only thing visible to it was that of an outline. What looked like four legs, a tail, a human torso, and horns, hands that ended in claws instead of fingers. [#2ca30f "The Sentinel has become corrupted. It is why the Templar is here, he stood guard over a corrupted tree and became so himself. If you do not work together to fix this all the elves here on the Isle will be lost and Corruption will spread from here across the world infecting everything."]
It was then the brilliance of the moon shown the white stag of the elven god of the forest. [#2ca30f "You must reunite the elven people. Get the Tylshaer Maelolaer, Shori Maelolaer, Shyr Maelolaer, and the Melshaer Maelolaer all together. With power drawn from each of them you can cleanse the Aeraesar Maelolaer."] With those words the great creature was gone and the room seemed almost empty, the air was tense, but if one focused enough they could hear everyone's breathing or a pin drop in water. Trailing his eyes around the room many nobility were stunned. Had they just seen the god of the wilds? Many couldn't believe it, but they couldn't deny it either.
The group once again started screaming and shouting only to once again be overshot by a single voice. [#b62e11 "Shut up all of you."] Anjui's voice drew the attention of the room. He was standing there his hand gripped into a tight fist his knuckles turning white. The guards from the nobility of course all went into a defensive stance standing between their nobles and the rest of the nobles including the family guards that were not in the center of the room their blades drawn as well. [#b62e11 "I offered to go to the tree, I shall be the one to reunite the elven people under a single banner."] So that was his plan then? To follow what the great god had said. Turning it over and over in his own head it seemed the logical thing to do.
Laughter busted forth from the nobles, even from their own family. it was then Ado and Anjui's eyes locked. The younger had a plee in his eyes for help, but yet Ado remained silent. How could he side with his brother over the rest of the family? how was it he could follow the words of a brother over elven customs? [#b62e11 "Very well you will all pay for this. Guards see our guests out of our lands in the morning."] the laughter stopped abruptly and many of the guards went back to a defensive position. [#0a8a39 "Son what are you doing? You are not ruler here in Felwood lands."] The words came from their father. Of course Ado's attention was still upon his brother, who had his back to his family until that moment. Anjui had turned to face the family a devilish smile upon his face.
[#b62e11 "Captain Tystalaes, see to it that my family is also escorted off the lands. We are no longer House Thaelyr, From now on these lands shall belong to Masjhol, The banner of House Starlight will claim the elven isle and expand beyond like the White stag has commanded."] Those words had finally set Ado's mind in place. He would side with his brother and so Ado called to his twin who now stood in the middle of the hall. [#f5990a "Was this your plan all along brother? To take the house from under our family's feet?"] Shaking his own head the young male stepped down the steps to stand in front of his brother. He had placed his left hand on his brother's left shoulder. It was a gesture of connection to the two of them.
Ado knew his brother would be cautious around him, why wouldn't he be? this was the first time he had after all done something without Ado knowing anything at all. of course shaking his head no Anjui had his golden eyes locked to Ado's. The younger twin seemed to be searching for words to say, but yet not a sound came out. Without hesitating Ado spoke even more [#f5990a "Then allow me to stay by your side. Together we shall unit the elven people once more. The Mas sol will not be split. We shall forever be twin stars. Shinning brightly next to one another and there to support each other."]
Watching as his brother Anjui smiled, the wet moisture of tears glittered at the edges of his eyes. speaking with their foreheads connected [#b62e11 "Thank you brother."] Pulling his head away from Ado's Anjui snapped his fingers, the house guards within the hall seemed to double in no time, and now there were ten guards for each noble that was there if not more. [#b62e11 "Pandryl jhaendrol escort the guests to their quarters. They will be leaving in the morning."] The dragon legion did as they were ordered. Watching as the guards escorted the family out first through a door to the left of the rise they sat upon. The nobles' watched as they were forced to leave their own hall. After them the nobility were lead out of the room, Ado watching as each small group left and were likely lead to their rooms and the guards stood on guard just outside the door.
Watching as his brother returned to the seats their family had recently vacated Ado came up to his brother sitting on the chair next to him. Looking upon the wreath crown that was once upon their mother's head. A simple design in consideration of the crown his brother would carry upon his head if the dreams he had would be seen to fruition. To unite all of the Soraer Thysaer would be a hard task in its own right, but to unite all the elven people again under a single banner would be a miracle one would aspire to accomplish in their life.
The party seemed to be going well. For the most part it was just like a normal day at a court for the elves. Nobility talked to one another about trade, Potential allies and silently planning and plotting their ways of war to take over the little tiny piece of the world they had. Of course there was also the talks of increasing the navy around the sea borders as more and more human raids on the north were happening. Not to mention if it wasn't the humans raiding what little bit of land the elves had it was the goblins popping up in the cave systems that lead into the underway.
The tunnels under all the lands were known as the underway. Usually filled with a constant fighting between orcs, goblins, Drow, and any other race that prefers the darker pretense of the world, but on the rare occasion the races of the underway come to the surface and raid where ever the come up. Recently a lot of goblin activity on the elven isle has been seen, and so many nobility have recently raised an army out of season to defend their lands. Not to mention it was known that the dwarves in the east did not like the elven people, and so a constant watch was posted to make sure no dwarven fleet would sail across to invade as well.
The day seemed to drag on and on in an endless time, but shortly the calls of the night gale could be heard. Instead of retiring most of the nobility stood up and allowed the tables to be moved farther apart and closer to the walls. The ceiling faded away as if by magic to reveal the bright starlight and the first of many rose moons. Anjui had watched the moon go from its dull dusk gray color to a shine of a redish pink. It was the blessing of Luna that they would have another year. The music had begun to play softy from one corner of the room. Slow and quiet at first, it seemed like thousands of instruments began to play all together to cover the room.
The nobility that had arrived all stepped out and started dancing. It wasn't long however before Anjui could see something magnificent. The dance floor had in a sense become even more glittering then the night sky above them. The shimmer and gloss of the gowns and jewelry and armor; even though fake; would sparkle just like a star. If one could see from above he would guess that it looked even more magnificent then the sky itself which would make the gods themselves jealous. The party could have lasted hours and yet still the night would be forever young in the hall. That was until something happened.
It was then a loud boom came from down the hall. The doors had busted open, and in came a single knight. Covered in what appeared to be White armor the knight strode forward in slow sluggish steps almost like he was tired, but could not stop. On the other end Anjui stood from his chair his hand on the fake rapier he had at his hip. [I Blasted these damn customs, This thing wouldn't do any good.] he thought, While not an effective weapon their fake ones would do more then just a little tickle. It would be like taking a fork and stabbing really hard into something it could potentially cause damage, but not much. [b "State your purpose here."] came a booming voice from behind Anjui he could only guess was the Captain of the guards.
The knight yet stayed silent and strode forward, it wasn't however until he reached halfway down the hall that he was stopped. Spears were around him and bows with loaded arrows from the guard were all pointed at this single intruder, but what made anjui curious was how was it he was allowed past the gate? Past the guard at the door? or even past the guards between the two? There had to have been at least what three or four patrols that would have seen him on his journey between the gate and the feasting hall?
[b "Stop or you will be put to death."] came the booming voice of the guard captain again. Thinking about it Anjui looked to a servant on his left. He had only lipped the words go get my sword before the servant was gone. The creature seemed determent however and kept pushing its luck as it strode forward into the circle of spears around it. Swatting away the heads of the spears like they were nothing more then flies buzzing around his head. [b "Guards stop him."] called the captain.
With that order the guards placed within the hall converged upon the single soldier, but it seemed to no avail he swatted them away like flees to a dog. [#b62e11 "Enough."] the young elf prince called as he strode from the chair now behind him to stand between his family and the new comer. [#b62e11 "What is it you want?"] That seemed to strike home as the knight stopped just outside of blade's reach [#b00c19 "I have come for what is mine."] The knight's gaze met Anjui's, but it was his hand that drew the attention as his finger was pointed directly at Shaelia Thaelyr Anjui's older sister. [#b00c19 "My bride, as was promised."]
it was then the white knight drew his blade out and dropping into a battle stance. [#b00c19 "Any who stand in my way shall meet their end."] With those words many of the nobility quickly skitted to the outside of the room giving the warrior a clear view of the noble family, but yet Anjui still stood in his way. The knight looked up to the Felwood nobility. [#b00c19 "Watch as your child dies now."] Diving at the boy the knight only chalked up the floor with the dust his blade caught up. The prince had moved in the nick of time out of the way to his left.
[#b62e11 "If you wish to have my sister you will have to go through me."] having the servant he sent off earlier appear at his side with his actual rapier Anjui placed himself also in a battle stance ready to fight. The knight once again charged only to predict the prince would move, and so with the boy's movement the knight's blade changed course. Landing a blow on Anjui's left arm it forced him to change his blade to his other hand. [#b00c19 "Give up, you will never beat me."]
Anjui had let out a single war cry, no words only a sound all the force he could muster and with it he charged forward blade ready. The intruder of course followed suit heaving his blade above his head, this time however the unthinkable happened, Anjui allowed the knight to land a blow just deep enough not to loose his limb or a lot of blood, but far enough to force him to let go of his blade as he spun around. Landing his rapier right into the man's right side just above his diaphragm the rapier had an upward angle to it, but it did what needed to be done. It had punctured the man's right lung, and pierced into the heart.
While the knight knew he was defeated he still held himself up for several more minutes everyone just stared at him. Finally he fell to his knees drawing in grasps of breath as the blood started to fill his lung. Anjui stepped up to the man and pulled his rapier out. Falling face first to the floor many whispers and shouts started to come across the hall, but none seemed to matter as all of the felwood nobility were looking at the oldest daughter to the house. Her eyes wide eyed, her face never left their mothers.
Flipping the body over Anjui's eyes went wide and many sharp gasps could be heard.
Anjui looked to his mother for answers yet even in her eyes was confusion. There had to be a single answer to this, but what could it mean. Standing up Anjui walked back to his seat, but did not sit like how many of the nobility were now proceeding to do so. If it was the surprise of the intruder or perhaps the surprise it was a Templar which knocked sense out of most of them was unknown, but he would have to solve it.
The felwood family would rather lie and keep their position then admit they had a Templar here on the grounds the entire time ready to kill us all."] [#42f5e8 "Careful where you Throw your accusations Aelori, for all we know it could have been you who had the Templar with you."] [#652376 "You must be in league with the Felwoods Myrdar, why else would you defend them so readily?"] slowly the room once again erupted into screaming and yelling, only it was far different then before this was shouts in an argument. The potential now was a war could break out and the elves once again would be within a civil war, and not likely survive this one.
The group once again started screaming and shouting only to once again be overshot by a single voice. [#b62e11 "Shut up all of you."] Anjui had his hand gripped into a tight fist his knuckles turning white. The guards from the nobility of course all went into a defensive stance standing between their noble representative and the rest of the nobles including the felwood family and the guards that were not in the center of the room their blades drawn as well. [#b62e11 "I offered to go to the tree, I shall be the one to reunite the elven people under a single banner."]
Laughter bursted forth from the nobles, even from his own family behind him. Anjui looked to his twin brother a plee in his eyes for help, but yet he remained silent. [#b62e11 "Very well you will all pay for this. Guards see our guests out of our lands in the morning."] the laughter stopped abruptly and many blades still drawn. [#0a8a39 "Son what are you doing? You are not ruler here in Felwood lands."] It was then Anjui turned to his family a devilish smile upon his face almost like the corruption from the Templar had seeped into him from the wound inflicted upon his person.
[#b62e11 "Captain Tystalaes, see to it that my family is also escorted off the lands. We are no longer House Thaelyr, From now on these lands shall belong to Masjhol, The banner of House Starlight will claim the elven isle and expand beyond like the White stag has commanded."] It was finally then the voice of his twin that came through to his ears. [#f5990a "Was this your plan all along brother? To take the house from under our family's feet?"] shaking his head back and forth Ado stood up and stepped down the few stairs to stand in front of his brother.
Anjui was cautious around his twin, this was the first time he had after all done something without his twin knowing anything at all. of course shaking his head no Anjui looked to his brother, no words came to him to figure a way to convince his brother to join him. It seemed however it was already decided [#f5990a "Then allow me to stay by your side. Together we shall unit the elven people once more. The Mas sol will not be split. We shall forever be twin stars. Shinning brightly next to one another and there to support each other."]
Anjui smiled a wet moisture came to his eyes to know at least one member of his family would be there to support him. [#b62e11 "Thank you brother."] Snapping his fingers the house guards within the hall seemed to double in no time, and now there were ten guards for each noble that was there. [#b62e11 "Pandryl jhaendrol escort the guests to their quarters. They will be leaving in the morning."] The dragon legion did as they were ordered. Anjui stood in the hall, a crown now in his hand forged original for his mother, now removed from her head.
Like the rest of his family the crown was a single thing. a wreath of gold meant to wrap around the head, however the crown was different. It was several cords of gold woven together into the wreath. and in the middle of the forehead the wreath would hold a masjhol kaes, a starlight gem. to the elves the most precious gem next to that only of amber.
Soraer Thysaer, the Twisted Forest was the home of the wood elves. While considerable smaller then the other elven realms across the world, the Twisted Forest was very well guarded and considered the most deadly of places unless you are invited in. Within the branches themselves of the giant green woods the wood elves are always watching hidden away from the rest of the world. While here in the Twisted Forest one looses sense of clarity. The elves use this as a weapon of their own. In the middle of the Twisted Forest stands the Great White Tree seen from anywhere within the forest if you were high enough. Built into the tree itself was the wood elf city Tarys, The capital. Build from the base of the tree all the way up into the branches the tree folk were to be little trifled with.
The starlight yet lingered on the treetops as the golds, amber, and ruby colors of first light began to appear on the horizon. a silent breeze blowing through the trees, bird songs starting off to mark the dawn light. The crunch however of sticks and fallen leaves would draw a person's attention. It appeared at first to be a single orc like creature strolling through the forest, but it was frantic like it was trying to escape. Black blood rolling down from a fresh wound upon its arm made by an arrows which stuck out of it like a thorn from a rose vine. running while looking over its shoulder the orc ran right into a tree that had blocked its path.
Dazed after landing back side into the dirt the orc looked confused for a moment as it's eyes adjusted to the blues and whites in front of him instead of the different shades of greens browns, yellows, and reds. Blinking several times the creature sat up. Looking around then to its arm the creature gripped the arrow and pulled it out causing the wound to bleed worse for a few moments before it could cover the wound. [#9dcc38 "You are done for orc. Now before I kill you what is it you were trying to do in the Forest?"] the clear words of an elvish voice came across the orc's ears, but yet his eyes still could not see him.
It was after he let his hood fall down that the elvish figure finally appeared to the orc. The male had long flowing golden blonde hair like many of the elven people found within the woods. His leather pants clung to him just like a second skin, it seemed even at the knee where normal clothing would wrinkle there was nothing. His blue eyes matched that of the glowing sunlight patches that came through the top of the trees it seemed his clock was even the same way. His white cotton shirt covered in the brown leather armor allowed him flexibility without straining him. Bow and arrow already knocked and ready to fly. The orc looked worried as he knew this elf never missed.
Rumors had had it of a single elven Ranger that would match what now stood in front of him, but to send such a skilled hunter against the band must have met something. [b "I will tell you nothing you scum."] Stepping even closer to the orc the elf drew out one of their blades and put his bow and arrow away in a single cat like movement. [#9dcc38 "Then you will die just like your warband kin. Your body will be burnt to ash and scattered across the winds to honor those who you have killed, and so your body does not spoil the earth where you would be put to rest."]
Flashing back to a few hours ago the orc was one of fifty members traveling all together in a warband trying to get across the forestlands to the great gathering of Orcs that would be waging war upon the moon elves in the far south. It would have been an honor, but the great band would have left before they could have gotten there by sea or by the tunnels, so their only option was to go through the forest, but it was their mistake. About half way through their journey was when things started happening. The first was that the band started hearing voices in the forest, they begun to believe they had gone mad or they were hearing the voices of the dead in the forest; perhaps their gods even? no it was the voices of the wood elves they were hearing.
It was after that the arrows started flying, not many, but very slowly long and drawn out between each death blow. It was like a single elf was pushing them away from the tree, he was drawing them to him, no he was doing far worse; he was toying with the orc band taunting it. The orcs all spun around looking frantically for their attack at least then they could hope to defend themselves from the agonizingly slow onslaught. The first to die of the orc band was a pair of orcs that had been lost to the forest, they had been left behind as they fell behind. They died however to arrows to their heads from above. Next was another set of orcs that had tried to turn around and run back to the side of the forest they came on, however their heads where cut clean off. Several died by blade, but more died to arrows like the one the orc now held in his hand.
[b "The Great war is coming, and your forest will burn. There is nothing you or anyone can do to stop it."] The hunter stood there and pulled the blade across the orc's juggular to let fresh black oil thick blood ooze out of the creature [#9dcc38 "I am Javi Twinshade, Slayer of Orcs and men, there is no force that cannot be stopped in the forest while I protect it."] the creature grew old but heard fading out foot steps come close by. [#9dcc38 "Valaeses, take care of the bodies. I want not a single one left in the forest. Burn them, then pitch them into the sea. Let the Great waters cleanse their filth from this land."] bowing several other elves set to work while a few more appeared from around the forest itself. [#108417 "You taunt them to much. Had they gotten any farther they would have been at the city gates."]
Placing his hand upon the elf that spoke Javi only gave a fake laugh. [#9dcc38 "Then we know your father would have my head for allowing it. I am blessed as the ranger general of the forest we call home. I would not allow such impure creatures near our home. I only meant to find out why they had come."] Nodding the elf placed his hand upon Javi's shoulder as well. [#108417 "And what did you find out?"] [#9dcc38 "That your father needs to be informed of. Let us return to the halls. There we can discuss it with your father the best action to do. Prince Vyr."] both elves let their hands return to their sides.
Javi wiped clean his blade on what little bit of fur the orc had on it. Shortly after he returned it to its sheath and made his way back to the White tree. at first glance the tree appeared to be nothing more then another giant world tree. In fact it was the wood elf one they had planted so many years ago that sprouted the forests that now held to the land. The Shori Maelolaer, The White Sentinel. Standing a massive sixty miles high from base to top it held the great halls of the capital within. The outside world however couldn't tell without being trained to see it or without a guide. The wood elves were devilishly clever and hid their homes away from prying eyes by using the very essence of the world around them. The entrance stood bare and just inside stood the same pearl white as the outside of the tree.
once inside one could tell the tree was bursting with activity. Elves could be seen far and wide embezzled in their daily lives, of course many paused as the ranger passed by and gave him a quick glance. Recently many rumors within the court had came up about Javi, and none of them were good. Keeping his head leveled, eyes forward, and mouth shut Javi stepped up the stairs to the throne and to the king Shol. [#7f2f30 "Javi, I thought I ordered that party destroyed not even hours ago, yet I hear it came within inches of our home.
Javi just went down to a single knee and went to speak, but was cut off by the prince Vyr [#108417 "he did so on my orders. I told him to get information out of them before killing them."] Javi's eyes glistened with gratitude, but his head was still down in a bow. [#7f2f30 "Well what did you learn?"] Javi stood up and looked between the king and his son. [#9dcc38 "The orc before I killed him said there was going to be a great war that would burn the forest and there was nothing we could do to stop it."] the king just looked at Javi expecting more. [#7f2f30 "Was that all?"]
Javi once again went back and forth between the two. [#9dcc38 "It also said something about a great warband gathering to the east that would be marching for the Moon elf Dreamwoods in a few days. The band we had come through was trying to go to the gathering they were having."] nodding the king leaned forward placing his elbows onto his knees. [#7f2f30 "Do the moon elves know of this? Have messengers been dispatched to tell them?"] Javi just put plainly. [#9dcc38 "No my lord. I had come to report to you first."]
Nodding The elvish king leaned back it seemed he went deep into thought of what to do. [#7f2f30 "Javi, you and Vyr will go to the moon elf forest and deliver the message that orcs are marching against them. If they call upon us we will help them."] both the prince and Javi put their hands to their chest and bowed. [#7f2f30 "Javi You are dismissed. Prepare for your journey as it will be soon."] The elven ranger once again bowed; turning he walked away and back to his chambers.
Everything he needed for the journey he already had on his person, all but save perhaps rations, but the wood elves never usually traveled outside of their forest and going a few hours without a meal did not hurt anything. it would be a long trip to the moon elf court in the Dreamwoods. It would take at least a week to get there and another week if not longer to return and that would be if they did not stay a few days, which would be a basic requirement especially if the High Priestess was still as traditional as she had ever been. It was the knocks at the door that had drawn his attention. standing there in his door was the prince who was dressed in armor with blade and shield upon her person.
The two gathered the rest of the things they needed in silence. Supplies such as food rations, arrows from the armory, sleeping cloths, and Mounts. The wood elves like their moon elf brethren choose to ride an animal besides a horse. Instead they rode on top of a creature known as Orns. The creatures were naturally found within the woods, and so they came in handy as they traveled just as fast as frost worgs and unicorns. They also traveled faster then normal horses, but slower then say flying.
It was then they were off on their adventure.
The moon had shown so bright within the Paestyr. The Dreamwoods were the home of the moon elves. Once apart of the elves now trapped on the island lands far to the west. The moon elves had also once been apart of the Dark elven people, believing in the cause behind Eci when he claimed the throne for himself, however it was this mistake that had driven them away. The moon elves while seeing the iron first of their overlord and his malicious nobility that followed him through and through they would have no part of the war upon their own people. This had caused issues for the moon elves in years to come, as shortly after the fall of Eci they were treated like second citizens, worse then even the slaves. Almost like they were untouchable.
It was their religious leader the High priestess to Luna that had brought them from across the water to the land they now call home. It was known as Bondradi, Nightglade. it was in the southernlands of Abor. It was a large country with many different kingdoms and races upon its, but the elves tend to stick to their forest and watch in seclusion from the rest of the world. The Moon elves once were a might above all others and were the reason the elves had held their empire together for so long even after the fall of Eci. It wasn't until the banishment of the dark elves and half of the elven population at the time that the problems of outside started to take its payment from the elves.
The moon elves however were derived from the Dark elves; After being driven away from their home realm of Taerael Airi, to the far frozen waist lands of the northeast Hardship fell upon them. It had taken them years to finally find a place within the barren and crude realm to call a peaceful place. They had started their own homes near Shaloli Jhaji, the Blackice lake however was unfruitfal even in their times of need. The dark elves however trived just like the humans of the north. They build their lands up to span across much of the barren land, but eventually the food became sparc and rare to the point where the Dark elves began fighting among themselves.
Eventually a much larger scale civil war happened with the dark elves, and out of it came the Tyl aer, Pas aer, Pyrn aer, and Bol aer. The moon elves and night elves quickly learned that no matter how much fight they put in they were always in danger and could never reach heights they wished to obtain, and so they had left the frozen lands to seek shelter among the forests of the world outside of the realm. The Night elves took it upon themselves to plant a seed from the world tree just off the Coast of Arath and the world would call it Tylshaer Maelolaer, the Moonwell Sentinel. their version of the elven Aeraesar Maelolaer, Eternal Sentinel. However it did not bode well for the elves, as while it grew to a great height of well over sixty miles from the ocean to the top it was hard to not notice a giant tree that was now off the cost of one of the six continents of the world. Of course the night elves would guard it quite well and build several villages and a major city for themselves upon it.
Abor was one of six continents in the world. It spanned like the other two from north to south and may kingdoms were found upon it, Forests, deserts, mountains, and all kinds of terrain were found on it. The only thing that was not were the frozen lands of the great north or south. Both of which seemed to be ravaged by wildmen or animals. The middle country was known as, the others like Abor with few acceptations were Iporis, Ulesh, Tocren, Osoya, and the Elven home country of Taerael Airi or more commonly referred to as Akura to the other races.
The moon elves however did no such thing instead they stuck to the traditional forests and were active usually during the night, but some could be seen during the daylight hours. There was one such elf his hair had grown out just like all night elves to be below his shoulders, but above his back. He had more muscle tone to his body then his High elf counter parts, but his ears were shorter. His hair a raven black and his eyes matched the white blue glow the moon gave almost like they were reflections of it. his skin was a dark Carmel with a tint of green and blue to it. Unlike his people however this elf had no tattoos given to him from birth, or any markings of any kind upon his person.
The single male elf was sitting on one of the grassy cliffs overlooking the forest itself when he heard something approaching him. [#9138cc "Who is there?"] he said swinging his head backwards over his shoulder. His eyes looked right into a golden pair from a Moonsaber. A very large panther, standing a little larger then a bear. [#9138cc "Ai mi O Solia. Have you come to keep me company my sweet cat?"] It seemed the Black moon saber stepped out from its hiding spot fully dressed in armor and ready for war like it could happen at any moment. Smiling the young elf looked back to the forest. [#9138cc "We leave for war soon don't we?']
It was a quiet night, the sounds of the night touched his ears and made it peaceful for one last time. [#6d3b87 "Ah there you are Lunas. The Priestess is looking for you."] came a familiar voice from the cliff below. [#9138cc "Please inform her I will be there shortly."] standing up the night elf named Lunas returned to his companion and scratched her behind her left ears right where her ear and head meet. [#9138cc "It's time."] Rummaging around the bags that were placed upon her back the male pulled out his own armor and dressed. He was the Commander of the army of moon elves and would uphold the name he was blessed with. The Goddess of the moon was watching. After finishing adoring his armor on Lunas turned to the great cat; without words the cat pawed the ground in approval. Of course the elf male pulled his glaive from her side and spun it around him to check its balance.
Placing the blade back into the straps on the side of the cat he hoped up onto her back and with another pat the giant cat leaped over the cliff and Stroud through the forest to stop dead about three miles in just outside a giant temple where it seems a bunch of moon elves armored up and ready for war had gather waiting for words from their great leader. It wasn't until Lunas came into view that the group were nothing more then a bunch of ragtag elves gathered up. Upon his appearance they all stood like the military they were. Giant war cats to the side, war machines ready to roll out with the order, and several supply wagons that would be going with them.
It didn't look like enough to Lunas, but they would likely be sent more supplies as the campaign went on. It was however the appearance of the Priestess that had made the entire group fall silent and look up to the entrance of the temple. She stepped down the ramp about half way down when she called out across the entire gathering so everyone could hear her words. [#df24eb "May the Great Lady's Blessing be upon you. May She give you an honorable death if you are to fall in the war that is to come. The Orcs have invaded our lands to the north and we will not have them chopping down our forests not when we still have an army that can fight them back."]
The army only answered back with their Battle cry "Paer shaerysi porylys". Death before dishonor was indeed the way of the moon elves and they were held in high standards to it. The priestess waved the sign of the moon in the air and the call of the war horn blew through the elven ranks and now they were on their march to the north. To the north was the rest of the country. The orcs in the north had been troublesome for so long, but now they would know the wraith of the moon elves when they went to far. There would be a camp already set up for them in the north after so far, however they would have to go beyond even the cities to fight the orcs and stop the deforesting of their own homelands.
Inside the Dreamwoods there were Seven major elven settlements all of which were spread out from one another but close enough to trade with each other, it was like the moon elves had built up their own society within each city and they would trade with other moon elf societies for what they needed. The only acceptation to this was when they went and were forced to retreat to the citadel they had built Teirar tali Toradaer, The Crystal cave Citadel had been carved into the only mountain found within the Dreamwoods, as it had a gem mine like that of the nightsky inside of it, and so it was deemed that they would use it as a point of defense for its people. They had sealed it off from the rest of the tunnel systems built around it by dwarves, orcs, goblins and the like and fortified it with stone and stockpiled it up with weaponry that it could withstand a siege for a decade if it needed to.
Lunas was on the ride to the first city when he could hear the words of the priestess play in his ears again. The goddess was watching now more then ever, which meant that the other gods were also watching them. If the god of death was watching then Lunas would give him a sight to watch. While many elves believed Luna was the Goddess of the moon she was also known to be the Goddess of death and riches. Lunas would make her proud to call her his champion and allow him to wear her symbol upon his banner and chest.
The young male hoped that perhaps if honored by death in battle he would be allowed to see his father once again. The man had fallen back in the age of civil war when Lunas was but still a young lad, so he had grown up not knowing his father all to well other then that he was a great man and a very exceptional general and an advisor to the elven king Casha before his death even. He had been an advisor to Eci until his dethroning and was the leader of the rebellion against Eci when the dark elves had been banished.
the silent chirp chirp of the night Heron had drifted the elf male to sleep. His body fresh from the bath and the stench of the day gone. He had dreamt of a land of peace. One day returning the elven people to be united under a single crown, but that dream was far in the future and unlikely to happen unless he was given the crown to House Thaelyr. house Felwood had followed the tradition of succession sense its time as a part of the High noble houses. Those noble houses who are ranked above twenty in standing are High noble houses, anything from twenty- one to one hundred were noble houses and anything below one hundred was considered a lesser noble house, if a noble house at all.
His dreams however were interrupted abruptly as he was vigorously shaken awake. At first the world was nothing more then a blur to the elf. [#0a8a39 "shaji iar tor, Wake up child."] was called repeatedly with more shaking from left to right. waving his hand in the air to try and swat away whomever it was trying to wake him. [#f5990a "But the sun is not yet even awake. Why must I be?"] It was then the world came into focus and the young male elf was staring right into the face of a fully dressed older elf. To be exact this face belong to his father. [#0a8a39 "Ado, You will awake, or I will send in a maid with a bucket of cold water."] It wasn't even the threat that had awoken the male, but the face of sternness his father had given him.
[#f5990a "I'm awake I'm awake."] Rolling from his stomach to his back Ado looked over to his right to see a female within his bed, both confused and happy with the ordeal it must have been another night of conquest for him, but he couldn't remember it like he usually did. Perhaps it was the dwarven ale that had gotten to him. They knew how to brew the good and strong stuff. Eistaes eili, Amber ale was a craft he would one day learn from the dwarves, but for now the elves would trade for it. Wiggling out of his own bed Ado began to dress even with present company still asleep. Pulling on a simple white cotton shirt and pants.
He had just finished dressing when he heard the voice call from behind him. [b "You left bed so soon?"] Stepping up to the female Ado placed a kiss upon her lips for a few seconds. After releasing her from the kiss she was flushed red, but Ado still couldn't recall anything from the night. [#f5990a "I must go. Lord Thaelyr calls."] nodding the women began to look around and paused a moment her face returning to Ado. [b "Wait, Your the Prince aren't you?"] Ado just had his usual devilish smile on his face. [#f5990a "Prince Ado Thaelyr at your service."] [b "I can't believe I slept with the prince. The Lady will have my head for sure."] laughing Ado sat down on the bed again. [#f5990a "Don't fret, As long as she doesn't see you she will not be told."] [b "How can I get out without her seeing me?"] the girl pleaded her eyes full of fear to the point of almost crying out. [#f5990a "The servant entrances tend to be vacant at this time. You can use them easily to get out of the citadel and the noble quarters even."] nodding the girl didn't stay long enough for Ado to tell her where they even were, but she seemed to know exactly where they were as she disappeared out of the bedroom and was gone like a puff of smoke.
Ado had just finished tending to his room when he heard a knock at the door. [#0a8a39 "Ado are you awake?"] calling back quickly [#f5990a "Yes father I am awake."] [#0a8a39 "Good when you dressed your mother is waiting for you in the dinning hall."] The dinning hall a marvel all its own. designed like the rest of the city. Its walls white alabaster, the pillars visible for everyone to see. The ceiling a red tint to match the roof outside with a few holes in them to let in the natural sunlight and small pools at on the floor where the ceiling opens up incase it rained. Stepping into the room Ado was greeted with a hug from his sister Shaelia. Her Bright blue eyes looking into his own Ice blue ones once their hug was finished. She spoke with a smooth calm voice like always, [#08541f "Mother is over there."] she pointed to the farthest part of the room near the throne and the seats for the family. Giving his sister a nod Ado left her to find out what his mother needed.
Before he could even speak to her she was saying something else to the servants close by. [#1ba77f "Be sure everything is ready for guests. We need Meals prepared Housing for the night, The tables pushed together, chairs brought out.."] it seemed like she would go on forever, but it was not so. She only turned her head slightly to the right and she about said more to the servants, but Ado caught her attention. [#1ba77f "I need you to go find Anjui."] Confused Ado looked to one of the servants who stood close by. [#1ba77f "Before you ask, no he was not in his rooms. He was last seen by the wall guards outside in the fields."] stifling a yawn Ado bowed to his mother without a word and left. It wasn't a long journey from the citadel to outside the walls, especially with no one in the streets as darkness was still yet in the air. On his journey out of the city the sunlight had started to show brightly from the peaks of the mountains. It meant that people would soon be waking up to start their daily tends. Hearing the songs of the morning birds and the cooing of roosters the farmers were starting their work already. Children of course running around the fields with each other gleefully.
After reaching the field lands outside the city Ado found his twin brother easily, he was after all the only figure out in the field. His figure being the give away. Like Ado Anjui had a slim build with a milky cream skin tone, only Anjui's was more milk then cream. His hair was cut short, but was white silver color like that of their grandfather. His golden eyes seemed to be looking up at the moon which surprised Ado, after so long ado would never get use to his brother looking up at the night sky just to look at the night's eye. Holding up his hand in the air Ado called out [#f5990a "Kaerol Shyraes"] His brother jumped a little and Ado had to stiffle down a laugh.
Anjui had called back his greeting after holding his own hand in the air. [#b62e11 "Kerol Shyraes Ado."] Letting his hand fall down to his side Ado had replied only with [#f5990a "Mother is looking for you Anjui."] Turning around and headed back Ado had left his brother there a few more moments before looking over his shoulder. His brother was following close behind. Anjui had returned to the city, but not to the fortress right away, instead he went to the northern wall guard. [#ae0f1c "Prince Ado this is a surprise."] Holding his hand up to stop the commander. [#f5990a "My mother has asked I deliver this to you."] pulling a sealed scroll from his tunic the prince handed it to the Captain and stepped away. [#ae0f1c "I will follow it to the letter my lord."] Nodding Ado left and returned to the citadel.
It wasn't long into the dinning hall that his sister had pulled him aside. [#08541f "Father wants me to make the seating arrangements, so no house feels insulted here. Can you help me please brother. Your always more knowledgeable about this stuff then I am."] smiling and patting his sister on her shoulder he answered back [#f5990a "Of course I will help you sister of mine. We don't need anyone starting something here at the festival after all. That would be so rude of them, but rude of us if we put them into such a thing"] Allowing his sister to lead him off to part of the hall Ado had stopped in front of a placement board with all the nobility houses on it. Looking it over a few times Ado took a deep breath in and cleared it off. [#08541f "What? What was wrong with it?"] his sister pleaded her hands pushed together like in a prayer. [#f5990a "I would rather live this night through. several of these placements are all wrong, we have to start fresh."]
Nodding her acceptance of the task the two got to work. It had taken perhaps a few minutes to get everyone seated just right.[#08541f "Thank you so much for your help brother."] smiling he was about to say something, but his attention was drawn elsewhere when the horn went off from the northern wall. At first Ado wanted to run to his room and grab his blade and armor and lock the city down for invasion, but it was not what the horn call was for; he knew that it meant the guests for the festival was arriving soon. Looking at himself he was still in his comfortable clothing he would ware if he was allowed to have but a few moments to himself, but that was not to be the case.
It was the appearance of Anjui that had startled both Ado and Shaelia. he didn't say anything, but instead grabbed Ado and ran out the hall and into the fortress. being forced to follow close by at a quick pace or have his arm dislocated or worse ripped off his body entirely it wasn't until they reached the Third floor that Anjui released his arms which he rubbed slightly before returning to his rooms. It was the smell of roses and vanilla that had drawn him in at first. It must have been from the women the night before still lingering in the room, but whatever it was it made Ado not want to leave his room until the scent faded. It was the click of the servants door that drew Ado from his daydream. [b "Sir you need to get ready."] shrugging and rolling his eyes Ado face into his room at first it seemed almost identical to that of the other rooms, a single square room of twelve by twelve with a single window, bed, dresser, and other furniture, but it was his personal touch of where they where that allowed Ado his room its personality.
Going to the dresser Ado pulled out his more fancy armor. Allowing the silver to shine like a bright diamond. The house symbol of a single tree split down the middle adorn the breast plate. Stepping into the hall while strapping on his rapier to his left hip the male looked up to see his brother was also just now finishing up getting ready for the feast. Anjui and Ado held a moment's glance at each other which had been broken when Anjui smiled his pearl teeth showing. The words [#b62e11 "You look good brother."] came across to Ado's ears in their twin dialect. He didn't want to say it back, but the words just escaped from his lips. [#f5990a "You look good yourself brother."] it was then Ado felt how close Anjui really was to him. They were basically only centimeters from touching their shoulders.
The two descended the stairs and returned to the hall. None of the guests had yet arrived, but it wouldn't be long before they did. walking down the room Ado first noted how the room seemed to change. Everything had. The guards were found in front of each pillar were no longer there. The house banner found between each pillar was now gone save for the one that would sit behind the family itself. The room seemed bare in comparison, but the table took up most of the room. Shaped to form a U the nobility would sit on the outside of the shape, their guards behind them, where the servants would be working in the middle of them all refilling cups, or replacing food that would be eaten during the feast.
What had however drawn Ado's undivided attention was his older siblings; Not his sister mind you, but the older twin brothers. Taraern and Bastaer, Ado hadn't seen them in a few days now as both were out with the military mostly now taking on patrols and learning to one day take over the house. Many believed Taraern would take over the house, but he was arrogant and acted as such, so many of the nobility found on the land leaned more towards Bastaer becoming leader, but he was just as bad as his twin. He had little intelligence in political affairs and either would be the cause of the house to fall. Of course he always kept his opinion to himself as it wasn't his duty to put in for succession.
The twins however were described as oddities to the family as they didn't appear to have any traits from the family. Both were tall and slender like all elves, both had long hair down to their mid back to show their age. Their hair however was that of a Dark black, their mother's was a golden brown and their fathers was a bright fire red. Both of father's parents had red hair as well, where as Mother's father had silvery white hair, and her mother had the golden brown hair color as well. The twin's eyes were that of an chocolate brown. Their father had green, and his mother had blue, his father had green. Mother had blue, her father had a golden amber color. Her mother's were also ice blue.
It was then his attention was caught upon his sister and parents, but his feet kept walking forward. It wasn't until he was to his seat that he realized that he had kept walking. He had in fact banged his knee right into the chair. Grabbing his knee and plumping himself into his chair Ado watched as the houses arrived. The first few he didn't know other then the fact they were around them by land. It wasn't until close to the end that he finally recognized the houses.
The first that he recognized was that of his mother's original house. House Maser, Stardust. Found across the [#103dbc "Greetings from across the Waters of Olael mi."] Wondering if his mother recognized her own brother after being gone from him for nearly three centuries Ado was about to speak when instead his mother did. [#1ba77f "I'm glad you could make it brother. It will be a relief to have some friendly faces here. I hope the Ocean Sea treated you well."]
After their uncle Seilaes had bowed and turned to take his seat another familiar house came to Ado. It had been the Lady of the house verdia, Ruby. [#910811 "Greetings from the Ice peaks."] It was however not Lady felwood that answered this time, but Lord Felwood that spoke. [#0a8a39 "Greeting's great lady We hope your stay here is a comfortable one."] the reason House Verdia was known was because they were the farthest north elven house, claiming the Ice peaks of Thyr kadi, Frost glade mountains as home. They were also Thyr aer like that of House Myrdar. They were relatives mostly, but distant ones at that.
The next pair of houses that entered together were that of house Parn, Dawn, and house Per, Dusk. Both were houses of Blood elves. Tricky things who were always thirsty for magic or power. They had been almost removed from the history books at one point by Eci, but they thrived in secret and eventually reclaimed their lost land. They worked well together. stepping to the throne together the first to speak was Lord Parn. [#f494f0 "Greetings from the sands of Shas Peraes."] Next to speak was Lord Per [#f69079 "We greet you from the Molael Bali."]
Before anyone could speak however Shaelia spoke up. [#08541f "We hope that the journey from the Black Desert and the Silent vale were not to taxing upon you lords."] both shook their heads no and went to their seats. The rest of the houses that had come up Ado couldn't recognize, but it seems all of them had arrived within a few hours of the ordeal starting which was a good thing as it meant they could start drinking soon.
Hearing a bell from his left Ado watched as servants flooded into the room placing empty cups plates and freshly wrapped silverware with a napkin in front of the nobles. A second bell ring and jugs of liquids of all kinds were brought up. Each nobility was given the option of what liquid they would drink. Of course Ado had paid close attention to what his family was drinking. The oldest sibling twins were both drinking a fruity water elf made cherry wine. Their father was drinking a human made beer. The older sister was drinking a gnome made brew. Their mother was drinking a diluted version of a high elf white wine. Anjui was drinking only water. Ado himself was drinking a dwarven made ale. It seemed the night would proceed quite smoothly.
A lone figure stood in the middle of a golden field of wheat. His hand passing over the crop as the wind gentle blew it back and forth and his slow paced walk across. The bright shine of the copper rays of the sun chased away the starlight sky. The figure seemed to have his head skyward looking at the last trace of night, specifically the silver eye of the moon in the sky. He traced it as it went down below the horizon of the distant mountains. They were a few miles away, but very visible from where he stood for one simple fact that he was standing on the farmlands of his home. In the very center of the Elven lands was the lands of the Felwood house.
House Felwood was one of the last remaining original houses from when elves had first become something more then just a band of people, but an actual race and kingdom. They were the house the Original King of the elves came from. Casha had been a long lived man and a forgiving one, but his name would go down in records as Casha the Uniter. He had gotten all the elves to band together and take the world and forge an Empire. It was however his downfall that had seen to the end of the elven empire. and it would be his demise that would cause a civil war between the elven people. At first the nobility thought nothing of it until it was to late.
The elves had been split in two. Casha's own child Eci had lead one side of the fight. The other was the noble whom history has long forgotten. Eci had lead a deadly massacre of his own elven brothers and most of the nobility stood by and did nothing as Eci had taken the crown and ruled with an Iron fist and would see the Empire's military strength, their Navy lacked and so did most of the good living that Casha had founded for his people. Eci's reign was a short one as he was dethroned after ten long years of his rule, however not by his own people the elves, but by those who he would make an enemy of. Humans, Dwarves, Old ones, Beast-men, Dragons, etc. While they thought him defeated Eci returned with a vengeance and an army behind him made of nobility who believed him to be the rightful leader. The nobility that did not follow him however fought him and won. Eci and the other nobility were forced out and would forever be known to the world as Dark elves, Banished to the Northwestern lands of Ice.
[#f5990a "Kaerol Shyraes"] Turning the figure spotted another male elf from his home standing behind him. This elf had a slim build his skin a pale new cream completion standing at the height of 6'5" with ice blue eyes and long blonde hair as is custom to High elves of nobility. Upon his head lay a wreath of gold twin to show his rank of Prince to the house. Upon his neck lay a leather cord, upon the cord lay a single piece of amber etched to have the symbol of the house upon it. his ears would be pointed like that of the sun elf nobility. While Felwood was believed to be a house of wild or wood elf, but no their race was in fact that of the Mel aer or Sun elf to the common language.
[#b62e11 "Kaerol Shyraes Ado."] pulling his hand from the wheat and up into the air the younger male just smiled. [#f5990a "Mother is looking for you Anjui."] That was the male's name Anjui Felwood. He was the younger of the twins born to his mother, of course she had several children before. Their older siblings all ready for power where the two of them were mindful and dutiful to their parents, as tentative as they were allowed to be at least. Their oldest Siblings a set of twin males as well named Taraern and Bastaer. They were constantly seen together it was like they worked as a single pair, but Anjui and Ado were the same way, inseparable. then below the twins you had a single girl, Shaelia, who looked so much like their mother it was hard to tell the two apart the only difference was their mother had blue eyes where their sister had green ones inherited from their father.
Turning around to head back the way he had come the sunlight had finally peaked over the mountains in the distance to light up the fields of the Felwood homelands. They were bountiful and full of life. Children's laughter could be heard in the distance. Animals began their daily duties just like the common folk found tending the fields and animals themselves. Off in the distance by a few yards was a single solid wall of milk white Alabaster. It was the city of Masol Thysaer, or Starlight Fortress in common tongue. It was the capital to the Felwood's lands and probably the most important city they had as it was the center of their trade.
Masol Thysaer, the City of Starlight was the highest altitude city from sea level and closest to the stars, it was why it was given Starlight as its name. It was like a Star on the land itself. Its buildings were Milk white Alabaster, with the roofs being made of a Coral colored stone to make the red and white pop. It was the house Colors. It was a magnificent city. At the very center laid the Fortress, inside was where the High Nobles of Felwood house and ruling member's lived. Also found inside was the Throne to the house, along with their small Thyrdaes si. The Flower tree is what linked the elves to that of the Eternal Sentinel tree which granted them all their magic, and their long lives. Around the Citadel in a clock like set up was the noble houses of Felwood, built for the lesser nobility of the house, distant family from the ruling family, or for the houses that merged into the higher house for rank. There are a total of twenty four of them all designed specifically by those who reside within them. Around them stood a wall which separated the noble quarter from the rest of the city. To the north of the city was the Market, and the only gate into the city. To the west was the academies found within the city to teach young elves the ways of war, or an artisan skill both of which were required, even for nobility. Many elves however picked up more then one artisan skill along the way. To the south part of the city lay the military district, the barracks, armory, stables, and the store houses all of which were fully stocked and checked regularly. To the west laid the commons, the housing for the common folk who worked the fields or tended other professions. It also housed the Tosys jhaji, The Mirror lake. The source of water for the city that ran into the river that flowed freely to the cliffs in the south and on into the sea.
To the north nuzzled in between the mountains was a small pathway guarded by Pandryl Shar, Dragon Watch. A fortress they kept up, but beyond that was the Forests of Molaes shyr, the Silver woods. The people that owned it was the house of Aelori, eclipse. High elves in their own right, but stubborn neighbors as they controlled the sea around them along with the passages of trade to the northern houses.
To the East was more mountains, but in the southeast was Ialolys Syrdaes, Unicorn Tower. Another Fortress that house Felwood kept up to watch the house to the east. The swamps of the east held the Shor aer house of molaes, Silver. Wild elves were unpredictable of their location, and many houses of the wild elves were hard to find because of their constant movement. The only known thing is they prefer swamps and uncommon places for elves to call home.
To the south was a cliff that lead right into the sea, go a bit farther out and one would reach the Isle of the Templar. On this island was the Temple dedicated to teaching the young elves of their past, and the customs of their people. Also found on the island was the Aeraesar Maelolaer Tree, Eternal Sentinel Tree, The last remaining Tree of Eternity besides the one found in the wood elf lands.
To the West was also mountains, only these were known as Moli vael, Spine Peaks. A series of mountains that are so tall their peaks are past the clouds and they are always covered in snow. Between them is several pathways that lead to the lands of Felwood, but they all connect to a single route and on this route is col Kes, High Guard. It would keep trade with the low hill lands of house Myrdar, Snowfall. Frost elves while less tricky then wild elves were still always on the look out for an opening to take the high land that Felwood sat upon and use the position to dominate the other houses either through economical use or starving them out.
[#1ba77f "Ah there is my boy. I began to worry when you were not in your rooms."] Anjui just smiled to his mother. [#b62e11 "My apologies mother. I had to see the starlight before we began the day."] a smile played across the women's face. She was a great lady to look up to Lady Felwood, and she was very diplomatic with the other houses around them. Pulled into a Hug Anjui wrapped his arms around his mother, only to release them a few moments later and to be released himself. a few moments of silence passed before either of them spoke. Of course Lady Felwood spoke first.
[#1ba77f "Today is the Masol Thaer. We shall be hosting the Starlight Feast this year for all the other houses. It means we will have many guests, and I need to be sure my children and people are safe while other nobility are inside my country. They will be accompanied by two guards and so I must ask you and your brother stick close by each other."] Nodding Anjui looked to his brother Ado who seemed to be in deep conversation with their older sister about the festival arrangements. [#b62e11 "Mother, When are the guests expected to begin to arrive?"] It wasn't long before a horn call answered that call. [#1ba77f "It seems that would be in a few moments. The Northern Guard has let us know they see a different banner."]
Nodding it meant he had little time left. [#b62e11 "If you excuse me mother. I must get ready for our guests and I am sure Ado does as well."] bowing to his mother Anjui turned to his left and went to his twin. Grabbing him and running out of the room and up the stairs in strides of twos and threes they made it to the third floor and to their separate rooms. Both went to their rooms and would be dressed in their more accustom finery. It consisted of Decorative armor, and a dull set of blades. Of course all nobility would be dressed as such, and so would have to rely heavily upon their guards to keep them protected, and within the city House Felwood would house its small Army of six hundred men and women. Most of which occupied their patrolling the city or guarding the walls. Those who were not doing either had their own free time and were allowed to do whatever they wished as long as they did not abuse their power as military Personnel.
The Palace Guards of course were an acceptation to this as many were trained to be military, but were hand picked by either their King, or a noble house to be a Guard for them. Many found it as an honor and did the duty full heartedly, of course the noble house that they guarded also gave them food and board and paid them for their work. Stepping into his own room Anjui stopped first after shutting the redwood door behind him. His room was of simple design. a squad room of twelve by twelve. A single window adorn with fine white silk curtains. his bed off to the left, At the foot stood a dresser which he went to and dug through until he found what he was looking for. The armor of gold and black with the house crest upon its breastplate. Along with the fake rapier blade he would carry on his right hip like always.
Dressed in his finery Anjui stepped out of his room and back into the hallway to find Ado had done the same. They were now indeed twins, the only way one could tell them apart was their eyes. Anjui had a golden color to his given to him by their Grandfather. Ado had his Ice blue eyes given to him by their mother. That and the twins were like a mirror to one another. Anjui was left handed while Ado was right handed so Ado's rapier would be found on his left hip. Smiling Anjui said in their twin tongue [#b62e11 "You look good brother."] Ado smiled and answered back. [#f5990a "You look good yourself brother."] Anjui of course mirrored his brother's smile. Taking up next to one another the pair descended down the stairs into the main hall to receive guests.
Shortly after the twins sat down upon their seats to the right of their mother and father guests from the other elven houses began to arrive. More importantly Key houses began to show up. To the elves there were several thousand houses that made up their people, however many were lesser nobility and aligned themselves to a higher noble house. The Higher noble houses were limited to a single one hundred. And at the top of those houses was the council, the first three houses that made the laws and decisions of the elven people. It was their judgment that could damn a house, but the three were constantly in a disagreement so nothing changed in centuries for the elven customs. and many laws were made by the ruling noble houses on the land.
The first of the houses to arrive was that of their northern neighbor from The Silver woods, House Aelori. Their banner was that of a green background with a white sun in the middle. The fair high elves stepped up and spoke the words [#771390 "It's a great honor to see you Lady Thaelyr."] She took her time in answering back [#1ba77f "I am glad you came Lord Aelori."] Next to arrive was their neighbors to the east, House Molaes. The wild elves were just that wild. They dressed in their tradition garb of wraps and loin cloths the nobility carried a staff, of course fake. placed in her hair was feathers that Anjui guessed were from a bird they considered valuable. The guards were dressed the same accept for the feathers. It must have been a way to show statue to their people. [#c9c9a6 "Its a great honor to be here Great Lady Thaelyr."] nodding this timeshe spoke softly [#1ba77f "I hope my home can compare to yours."] it seemed Anjui's mother was very clever, as she offered no words of insult to them. Next to arrive was the house to the west, House Myrdar. Like most elves the Frost elves war a traditional armor, only theirs was made from crude materials like Iron and steal. Their leader didn't wear a helm, but instead a cord of silver upon his head he also carried with him a polearm. looking around the Head of House Myrdar kept his eye on everyone. His gaze however fell upon Anjui for a moment before it turned to the lady in front of him. [#42f5e8 "Greetings Lady Thaelyr. Its a great blessing to be in your home."] to which she quickly replayed [#1ba77f "May you find it as fine as your own home Lord Myrdar."]
The other houses had all arrived within a few hours. It was magnificent so many elven houses that could be found. High elves, Sun elves, Blood elves, Frost elves, water elves, wood elves and even wild elves. and they had all gathered to partake in the Starlight feast. It was really a festival, but they called it the starlight feast, as the Elves all gathered and ate and partied during the night of the midwinter. It was the mark of their year was a quarter way over. Elven years did not start during the spring, like humans. It didn't start during Summer like that of the Gnomes and dwarves. It didn't even start during the Fall like that of the orcs, goblins, and the like. It started in Winter like those of the Old ones, Lizardmen to the common folk.
