Kane nodded, “I know, seeing her happy and smiling and playing with the dog is enough for me darlin’.” He checke don the food and pulled it out of the oven, getting plates down as well as forks and cups for drinks. “I did get ice cream for dessert as well but I wanted Millie to eat lunch before she had ice cream.”
Aleks sighed. “Let’s not talk about this now. We will figure things out along the way I’m sure of it.” She said with a smile and took his hand in hers. “We don’t have to figure everything out now.”
Kane smiled, “We we’re fine before like I said, but I’m glad you and Millie were doing alright but please don’t pay for everything yourself, let me do something even if it’s just her dance classes and uniforms.”
Aleks laughed and nodded. “It’s not cheap but I make more than enough to pay for them.” She said with a smile as she phone buzzed alerting her of an email. When she read it she couldn’t stop smiling.
“And I just secured sole rights to sell the new houses so we will be fine!”
Kane nodded, “Like I said before anything y’all need consider it done and I know her dance classes aren’t cheap, she brought me the same paper she brought you for their next dance uniforms...four hundred dollars for a tutu.”
“We can’t change any of the now.” She said softly as she turned to check on Millie. “She’s happy and that is all that matters.”
Kane sighed, “It is my fault because I should have been here. You and Millie should have been living in Nashville with me.”
Aleks sighed and shook her head. "It's not your fault. I guess this is what life is going to be like now." She said as she turned the paper over so she didn't have to look it.
“I didn’t know they were even taking pictures for the paper...I’m sorry.” It was obvious that Kane couldn’t help who he was now.
"Of course I don't mind. You can take some if you want." She said with a smile as her eyes travelled down this newspaper in front of her. Aleks let out a sigh and looked up at Kane. "This is going to happen a lot now isn't it? Millie being in the news."
Kane smiled, “I’ve been trying to unpack but my room is full of boxes but I finally got the pictures and plaques up on the wall.” He said sighting. “Would you mind if I got some pictures printed of Millie to put up...the only one I have right now is from the daddy daughter dance.” It was on the fridge. The newspaper laid on the kitchen island and in the local news section there was a picture of him and Millie dancing at the dance with the headline, daddy daughter dance at the elementary school.
Aleks him to the kitchen and glanced back at Millie as she played with the dog. "I can tell." She said with a smile as she took that glass of water and thanked him for it.
Kane chuckled, “No but you can come hang out with me, don’t worry, we can see her from the kitchen.” He led Aleks to the kitchen and got her some ice from the ice machine and a glass of water. “Rambo loves Millie and she loves him too.”
Aleks smiled and walked into the house behind Millie who was already distracted playing with the dog. "Water for me please. I don't think you will get a word out a Millie for a while but she did have a drink in the car so she might be okay for a little bit. Do you need a hand with anything?"
Kane smiled seeing them, “.Come in, come in, Millie’s furniture was just delivered so other than getting things for her room it’s done.” Rambo ran towards Millie, sobber and all. “Millie, Rambo has some new toys in the living room.” The living room opened into the kitchen so they could watch her while lunch finished cooking. “What can I get y’all to drink?” He asked.
