Kane chuckled, “Donelson Bowl downtown has been there since the fifties and it’s the best place, best food too, let’s go...and for the record, I had a taste of what it was like to have the perfect girlfriend, perfect life, the girl who everyday had dinner waiting on me or came to every damn show and well she cheated on me so I’ve came to the conclusion that perfect isn’t always so perfect after all and I’m happier now than I’ve ever been.”
"You know, a normal wife would have wanted to do more with the house, over the moon for a child, not struggle with old habits...and the list goes on....wouldn't you be happier with someone with less issues?" Kenna asked looking to him quizzical. It was hard not to wonder about all this.
"Bowling? Innocent fun would be good. With something fried," Kenna added with a small smile.
“You are the best wife, more than I could have hoped for.” kane said assuringly and kissed her lips gently. “Now what did you have in mind for fun?” He asked with a crooked smile. He knew he wanted to have fun with her but it was all up to how she was feeling and what she was up to doing. He didn’t want to make her sicker than she already was. That would be horrible.
"I'm not a good wife, am I? complaining about the sickness, having debates on the pregnancy in head. Wondering about the different lives but still really happy...I think I'm going to go mad," Kenna gave a dry laugh. "Let's go do something fun."
With any luck the nausea would be better and she wouldn't be as up and down. She would just get huge and different pain.
Kane nodded, “I would stand by you with whatever you decided sweetheart. If one is all we have then one is all we have.” He said and kissed her. He was hoping for a son, but he knew if they had a girl that he would have to let go of that dream. He respected her and her wishes and wasn’t about for force her into having more kids just because he wanted to. It wasn’t all about him.
Another medicine that likely wouldn't work. She didn't voice this, no longer in the mood. It was all involuntary. Hormones was starting to eat at her and talking to Nate for a bit this morning didn't help.
"Let's hope it helps," Kenna muttered as she rose. After dressing she looked to Kane. "If I decided I never want to be pregnant again. Would you stand with me on that? I don't like this."
Kane kissed her gently, “Hey now we can go home and relax and you can take it easy, maybe the doctor can prescribe you something for the sickness, I know it’s getting to you.” The doctor nodded, “I can defiantly get you something for that, make sure your taking your prenatals as well.” Slowly he started getting ready for her ultrasound, when it was time Kane smiled and asked, “Can we tell the sex yet?”
It hadn't hurt as much as she thought it would. It was more dangerous for the child, than anything else. The doctor was good at this though. she was glad to not have the needle in her anymore.
"Thank God," Kenna said squeezing Kane's hand. A child with her husband. How traditional of her. Giving a relieved sigh she leaned back into the chair.
This did need to get better.
At the hospital Kane held her hand as they did the procedure and waited on the results and he kissed her, “Remember no matter what I’m here.” Kane knew it was a fifty fifty chance that the baby was his but he was hoping and praying this was his child and not that scumbags. Soon the doctor returned and said, “Kenna, the DNA from the child matched that of a Mr. Kane Brown.”
Somehow, she knew she was supposed to feel different but wasn't. While it wasn't bad it just wasn't overjoyed. It was more dutiful knowing she had little choice at this point.
"I mean...I'm already here where I never thought I'd be or possibly want to be. I might as well see your face not his. I'm not sure if I like pregnancy though," Kenna said honestly.
This could honestly be the only child they had if she didn't feel better in the second trimester. "Let's go."
Kane chuckled, “You opted for the giant damn needle baby.” He touched her stomach slightly, “no matter what I love you and our baby. I don’t need to know anymore than that.”
Once they were at the hospital, Kane held her hand as the procedure was done. He wasn’t about to leave her alone now, he was her support system as she was his. He was also excited to see their baby on the ultrasound again.
"Is it? Sorry, baby," she kissed his cheek before getting the notifications. It wasn't as if she had all of them on. Another article and them talking about looking good and all the awards. she didn't look like that was killing her at all.
"Right, giant damn needle. let's do this then," she said before giving a thin smile. She ate as much as she could before dressing.
“He doesn’t, it’s just noon.” Kane said kissing her cheek. “I made you breakfast, it’s eggs and toast and it’s in the microwave, It’s okay if all you can keep down is the toast, you have your appointment in an hour to see the baby and get that test done.” Kane wasn’t nervous about the test, he knew that no matter what this baby was his child but this was for her peace of mind.
The made nausea did come back with a vengeance. It was twice in one morning and she was happy the bathroom was close by. Falling asleep after the second time she knew it'd get better soon. At least there wasn't heartburn yet.
Waking up to Rambo she mumbled before placing on his shirt.. "Why does your dog hate me sleeping in?" She mumbled going for the one cup of coffee she was allowed.
Kane smiled into the kiss, “Well then.” He muttered before wrapping her legs around his torso and carrying her to the bed room. The next morning he was up early making eggs and toast for breakfast while the news read off the CMA award winners. Hearing his name on that list was surreal. He had always dreamed of winning and that was the first time he had won anything for his musics
