"Why do you have my phone, Rach? You better not be calling to see I the loos are working in London," Willow shook her head. Throwing up four times a day was killing her. And a God awful realization.
"It's your daily dose of drama," Rachel teased handing the phone back.
"Sorry about that. Whose this?" She asked feeling jetlagged but glad to be back and almost a citizen here.
"Its Kane. Can I talk to her?" He asked into the phone. He wanted to come and see her if she couldn't see him. He could be there in a couple hours by plane and it wasn't hard to get a flight to Boston. He sighed, 'Just... just tell her I called and let her know I miss her and I'd like to come see her if she wants me to... if she doesn't... I understand."
It would have been easier legally to get married and divorced when they were miserable and fighting. She had to return home, get new clothes and just set up in London for the month to prepare for getting that dual citizenship.
It took two months to actually get that. She did get to do what she wanted in those countries and expand her songwriting to different names.
Three painful months later she returned only to Boston this time. Successfully single without any men for three months. She informed him that she was close to being a dual citizen and was in Boston.
Rachel, the old friend from Nashville answered the phone when he called. "She can't answer she's throwing tonight's expensive steak up. whose this?" Rachel asked .
Kane looked to her, "We're not over right?" He asked hot letting go of her hand just yet. He loved her and he wasn't ready to let go.
The next day he was back in Nashville... alone... Rambo greeted him at the door and he went to his liquor cabniet and poured himself drink after drink. He couldn't do this...he couldn't be without her but he didn't know what to do.
Resting into him she sighed hating all this but knew night after night it was wearing her down.
"Then you'll feel the same thing I'm feeling. We want different things and we can't change that," Willow sighed running a hand through his hair. "Um...I'll just state it...and maybe later my brain will be fixed."
Trying to stand back up she sighed. God, she had been such an idiot.
"I don't care if we never get married... just don't leave." He said wrapping his arms around her tightly. "I've never been happier with you and if not getting married makes you happy then we won't. I love you." He said kissing her neck gently. His manager tried to get on the bus to tell them that they were leaving, "Get out now." Kane said through tears and he had tears streaming down his face. He only wanted Willow.
Willow has the bag in hand trying to make sense of their mess. Sorting some of the clothes not caring if it was dirty or not. Hearing him she sighed before putting the bag down.
"I know, love. I'm sorry..." Moving to him she wrapped her arms around him. "I can't lie to you anymore, or myself. Make you or me miserable by not agreeing on anything. It's not fair to us."
Resting her head against him she sighed.
Kane shook his head, "Please don't leave Willow." He muttered unable to stop the tears. The picture of her getting off that bus was killing him... he needed a drink or forty to handle this. "I can't lose you." He muttered before he broke in front of her... he had never felt this broken before... no one had ever taken this much out of him by just leaving.
"I don't know. Anything but say delay the wedding. It's...it's..." Willow sighed before playing with the ring again and slowly slipped it off. "I'm sorry. Maybe something will knock some sense and want that life. I'll just go now."
Standing up numbly she started off for her bag and items. This was the good thing to do, if she didn't feel it then it wasn't good to prolong the pain.
Kane sighed, "Your my best friend too Willow, the love of my life. I only want those things with you, no one else." He muttered letting the tears fall, "I'd never consider this with anyone else." He was worried she hated him now and with calling the wedding off his fans would want answers that he couldn't give them. "So what do we do?" Kane asked worried she would say see other people.
"I love you, I do. You're my best friend and...I really do...I just don't want the same things you do," Willow admitted softly before sighing. "You want the house, marriage and children. I don't want that yet and...if we did do this it'd be a lie."
She reached to touch him before stopping before dropping her head. "I'm sorry, Kane. I tried so hard...and it just..."
“You don’t want to be with me.” Kane said tears threatening to spill over his eyes. “I thought you loved me.” He said through the tears, it was obvious that this was breaking him. After everything they had been through she was calling off the wedding. “So that’s it?” He asked, “Were done?” He didn’t know if she was leaving him or not. “Calling off the wedding and everything?” He asked.
"I don't want to get married. Really don't want to start a family soon and I think traveling all over the country sounds better than another huge house," Willow sighed. "I thought if I went on tour with you I could fix that feeling. It...it's not working."
"Sorry...I tried to feel that way...I just can't," she sighed running a hand through her hair.
Kane shook his head, “No I don’t.” He said looking towards the ground. He didn’t want to talk about what happened or the wedding or how much she didn’t want to marry him. He didn’t want to talk about any of it. He plopped down on the couch and leaned his head back as the bus started and headed towards Nashville. “You don’t want to marry me do you?” He muttered softly.
"We don't need to do this right now. Just want to make sure you'll be okay," Willow squeezed his hand
When he was released the next morning she stayed with him the whole night. Hospitals was a terrible place and the television was useless. Helping him to the bus she looked to him sheepishly.
"So, i take it to want to talk about this, yeah?" She asked sitting down tiredly.
