Charlie had to try not to visibly cringe at Daria saying what she did. The woman knew she was TRYING to make a joke of it a bit, but this seriously was not the time for it. A sigh slipped her lips and she nodded. [b "Like Liam said...keep where we can see you..and close enough we can help if something happens.."]
She then looked to Liam and shook her head. [b "You encourage that way too much."] Though there was no bite to her words.
Jacob's hand was taken by the girl and he was all but dragged out as she led him to the small waterfall. But not like he minded it. There was way too much stress and tension that getting out felt nice.
And for a moment he watched Daria. He had to admit that she was beautiful and had to quickly shake those thoughts away. After his head cleared a little, he too had stripped and was wading in the water. A smirk crossed his lips as he splashed her. They were called "pups" so might as well act like them and have some fun before "mom" and "dad" called them back.
"Well, ma, did we finish the chores? Can we run and play now?" Daria asked. It just happened. There was so much stress and the idea that she didn't have a say was bothersome. Liam would be sidelined for a night or two, so they had time.
Liam attempted not to laugh at that but nodded. "Just stay where we can see you."
Daria took Jake's hand leading him to the little waterfall. "It's too damn serious there. Let's have some fun." Pulling off the shorts and her shirt she waded into the water. After the shifting she didn't have as much issues stripping anymore, she had seen the others naked as much as they tried.
Jacob nodded with a smirk of his own. "It only took a day. But you did." He was teasing her. And when Liam smirked, his head tilted. He didn't know what was in the man's head but it was interesting from that look.
"So when do we go? And when do we start looking?" Okay so he was being a little impatient and he knew it. But staying still and bound to a place had the shifter restless. Besides he could tell they were a bit restless themselves.
[b "We have to wait until Liam's pain mellows out a bit more. And make sure we don't miss anything here that could get us caught."] Charlie said with a shake of her head.
"Well, there is sniffing them out, except most of them are like us and don't have an obvious smell right away. We did get a general location just a month ago we could check out. It was from Anna and Roman," Liam said still struggling to move without pain but began walking and pacing to help his muscles.
"So...good old GPS and sniffing it out?" Daria asked before looking to him with a smirk. "I found you, didn't I?"
That sounded so...well, it sounded weird. She shook her head though Liam just smirked to the two of them. Eventually it'd win.
Daria was able to crack jokes about being like serial killers. If what had happened the night before had not happened then MAYBE the woman would have been more amused. But as it stood, both Daria and Jacob needed to learn to strip VINs and to deep clean in case she and Liam were not with them and they were on their own. She seemed even more serious than usual, but that was to be expected.
[b "You won't be using normal ways to find them. It's rely more on the wolf than the human you. Tracking through senses mostly."] Charlie explained, giving just a little more on it than Liam did. She knew it would make little sense but it was something they were used to.
Jacob looked at them all. "So now we're going to try and find other werewolves? Do you even have an idea where to start?" He asked. The shifter kind of noticed that both Liam and Charlie seemed almost back to normal and didn't stay around the other much.
"Please tell me they've explained more of this to you before?" He whispered to Daria.
The next day Daria was told how to strip VINs from the car and remove any evidence that they were there. Also how to deep clean a place to make it so no one could tell or get a lot of evidence. Charlie didn't seem to appreciate her serial killer jokes she was cracking though.
"We're going to go join some of the others. I said it was dangerous before...but now I think it's more dangerous to better than just the four of us," Liam said when he was able to stay awake for more than five minutes.
"I thought you said we don't know where they are," Daria said confused.
"That's why we find out," Liam replied simply.
Charlie had fallen asleep curled up to Liam. If she were honest, the woman missed the taste of him..the feel of their skin when it was against the other. Hell she missed it all. But to fall asleep with him as she had was nice. It was not often that she did without thinking about their past and what they had been. But that night had been needed.
Her eyes opened as she felt the man stir, but the woman didn't move. It had been far too long. Instead, her eyes were drawn over to Daria and Jake when the two came in. It was in a sense bittersweet seeing how close they were. It made her wonder if they were "mated" in a sense. Though she didn't speak and only hid against Liam.
Jacob couldn't help a quick shake of his head at Liam's weak tease. "Nah..just like she said letting you two have time. And also just watching the sky. Though looks to me like you want to sneak away." Jake threw back to tease some, curious what kind of humour Liam would have on it.
A small smile came to Jacob's lips as he watched Daria. "Night.." He said, tempted to switch to being the wolf again for the rest of the night. It would be safer if he did anyway.
Liam couldn't forget how she tasted, the feel on her skin on his, it went further than that. Waking up next to her sleeping form...it was awful to not wake up to that. "I've missed this..." Liam murmured. It wasn't often that he fell asleep like that but he did this time.
It was the most comfortable thing sleeping next to her despite the pain. It woke him up slightly ever few minutes before he fell back to sleep. The pain was awful, that it woke him up an hour later just as Jake and Daria seemed to be sneaking in.
"You two aren't already sneaking off are you?" He teased weakly.
"Giving you two your time. I'm going to sleep for a few hours in the room," she said entering the tiny room.
Her question took him offguard about the nightmares but it seemed she was right. They all had them. "That I'll lose control of the wolf and end up hurting someone I care about.." Jacob said honestly. He had had many nightmares of losing control and causing someone the pain Sam had accidentally caused Emily or him actually snapping and ripping someone apart. Just the thought had a shiver run through him. It amazed him how well the others functioned.
His eyes moved to the window when Daria spoke again. And he could see Liam and Charlie cuddled up together. He knew the two cared for the other but didn't know how close they were. And he also wondered how it might play out. But that thought was quickly put of his mind when he looked back to the young woman he was standing as she wrapped her hand around her arms.
Without thinking, Jacob slipped out of his jacket and put it on her shoulders. He was always hot anyway and just wore the jacket to seem "normal". "Hopefully that helps." The young man said with a faint smile
"What's your nightmares about? It seems all of us have them in this little group," Daria said more tensely than she wanted to. It happened with the nightmares it was hard to come up from those memories. Charlie seemed to function okay enough but she had Liam.
When her body seemed to calm down she took a deep breath before looking through the window to see them cuddle. "Maybe we should stay outside here for a little longer."
It had been her smart idea to go without a jacket. Wrapping her hands around her arms she gave a soft sigh.
[b "They always link scents to things like this...or the last persons to be in a place before the person was killed... Our scent is all over there and the blood... It will be messy...this is always messy. But we will figure it out.. We always have and can now.. But the best way out of this one is to change course..."] Her mind was racing over the details and trying to take in the new developments. This was almost like the beginning and what had them run in the first place.
Her mind was going through loops. But she was drawn from that when his arm was around her and pulling her closer. Dark eyes went to the man as she gently leaned against him. [b "Right now...it's nice..."] Charlie whispered. Neither of them liked or wanted complicated but in times like these was when old sparks flew and when they both seemed to put aside the fact that they were no longer a thing.
"I am sorry though. I know what attention that would bring, they know we were there, see the blood...it's going to get messy quickly. They might be able to trace us and maybe think we had something to do with Darius' murder," Liam rubbed his temple before immediately regretting it, the pain in his arm so incredible that he put it down. "We'll have to find a way...or change courses..."
He wrapped his arm around her pulling her closer to him. "I know...I know...you don't want complicated....but right now.."
He knew they were imprinted. The draw that he felt to her and that undeniable easiness when with her were dead give aways. But he wasn't going to tell her. Jake was hoping she would figure it out on her own. "Some of the night without them is good.. Wish it was the whole night though." The shifter said with a small smile.
His eyes went back to the room they had come from for a moment and then were back on Daria. "I am too.. And it was fine. It meant I could help out and be useful." Jake was trying to make a little bit of a joke of being the guard dog. "It really is nice..." And he became distracted as well by the beauty before them
The night air felt amazing. She took it in feeling her head clear just that much more. Seeing Jake she gave a smile. "Yeah, it was just old nightmares. At least I can sleep through a part of the night without nightmares." She honestly didn't put one and one together, they were imprinted but she had no idea.
"Glad he's okay, thanks for taking the shift and warmth..." She looked back to him before looking out to the distance. "It really is pretty out here..."
The woman listened to him as he spoke. So a fire and then possibly being found and blamed.. Well that wasn't exactly the worst of it. His uncle getting away was something they had to worry about. [b "It wasn't your fault.. you did what was needed."] The woman said quietly.
Lightly she leaned back against the couch, her hand giving his a small squeeze in return. Charlie was silent for a moment and then shook her head. [b "I've had a couple of hours and will be fine. For now I am going to keep watch..."] Besides she just couldn't bring herself to sleep.
