After starting to hear the hummed lullaby, Lucas slowly calmed down over time. Once a few minutes had passed, his breathing had slowed and his crying had practically stopped. "T-thank you so much, Alice..." He said gently as he let her go and noticed that she was still extremely tired. "You...you should get some more rest." He stated as he finally walked back over to his bed and sat on its edge. "If there's anything I can do...just tell me..."
Alice let him hug her as she returned his hug. She felt bad for him as she continued to rub his back, but she was still tired and trying to fight off sleep. She continued to push it off wanting to make sure he was okay and not to fall asleep while he was crying but it was a very tough thing to do for her. She started to hum again the lullaby from that night as she focused on easing his pain.
Lucas held her tightly, crying over her shoulder. Dragons had never been the emotional type...except for him, that is. He had always been emotional...even if it was extremely rare for his kind. The Drake's tears continued to flow as he hugged her. 'Alice...she's all I have now...' He thought to himself as he continued to grieve his family again and cry.
Alice listened to him as he spoke about his family before he started to cry again. He turned around and hugged her again, but she was off balance and the fell into a sitting position on her bed. Shifting a bit, she let him hug her as she tried to calm him down. She didn't know much about his race, but she could tell he was a very emotional person unlike herself.
Lucas was on the brink of crying again when Alice had hugged him from behind. He kind of cuddled into the hug slightly, desiring the comfort that she was giving him. "T-thank you...and there is no need for you to apologize. It's not your f-fault that my entire family is...dead." That was it. With that reoccurring thought, the Drake's tears finally escaped his eyes and started to fall to the floor. He turned around and hugged Alice back now, almost like how he had done right after the fire.
Alice nodded as she listened to him. She shifted a bit when he moved away from her and studied him as he spoke a bit more. She could smell the salt on the air from the tears and as he spoke she figured he was close to crying again as well. Her wolf demanded she comfort him like any wolf would for it's pack matte. Getting up she hugged him from behind. "I'm sorry Lucas." She whispered not sure what to do for him.
Lucas continued to hug Alice soothingly, wanting to make sure that she was calming down and feeling better. "I understand...my mind has been troubled as well..." He admitted slowly as he lightly let got of her and stood up again, giving her room to move. "We lost loved ones...and for me it was my entire kin. Then my mother, too...all dead." He sighed, not wanting his emotions to overflow like they had when he had first realized that his family had died. It didn't go so well, as tears welled up in his eyes.
Alice could feel someone shaking her and holding her, but it didn't fully register right away. After a bit though of hearing a voice she started to come to as her nightmare began to fade. Shifting, she woke up and realized Lucas was hugging her. Feeling embarrassed she rubbed her eyes and looked down. "I'm sorry Lucas. It seems everything from last night is still bothering me a lot." She mumbled as she rubbed her eyes again.
Lucas, since he had gotten a decent amount of sleep before, woke up somewhat quickly. He looked over to Alice and noticed her crying in her sleep, realizing that she was having a horrible nightmare. The Drake hopped off of his bed and went over to Alice's, gently shaking her awake and hugging her in a reassuring manner. "Wake up, Alice. Everything's alright...you were having a nightmare..." He said gently, her tears getting onto him.
Alice watched him seeing he was drifting to sleep. Watching him drift to sleep made her even more tired and it wasn't long till she was asleep herself. Her body and mind needed it and as she relaxed more did her mind once again bring up the nightmare from before. The fire was around her again and she could hear her brother calling to her as if she was the one lost. Soon he sounded hurt and was calling for help, but no matter where she ran she couldn't find him. Alice wanted to save her brother and as her nightmare continued did she start to cry in her sleep out of frustration of not finding her brother to save him. She knew she was in a nightmare, but she couldn't seem to wake up. Alice searched again for her brother wondering if she found him, would the nightmare end.
Lucas had followed Alice to their room, glad to see that the beds inside looked comfortable. He watched as Alice laid on her bed before walking over to his own and laying on it. He sighed and got into a position he usually slept in, mostly because he felt very relaxed in this position. "Some more rest is always nice." He said with a sigh as the tension in his body left and he started to drift off into slumber. He hadn't fallen asleep just yet, but he was close to it.
Alice nodded as she looked at him. "It will have to do." She said lightly as she waited for the bar wench to come back by. Once she got her attention she requested a room for them. It's didn't matter to her if it was in the same room. Most inns these days seem to provide to beds in their rooms. Looking to Lucas she smiled again as she followed the bar wench to their room. Upon entering it she went over to one of the beds and laid down on it and turned to watch Lucas curiously. He had been pretty helpful so far, but she did notice they had very different personalities which she also didn't mind. Sighing she let her body relax, but was still nervous to go to sleep.
Lucas nodded and sighed. "Yes, I would suggest that we get a room and rest up for a while." He stated as he looked at Alice. The Drake looked around as he finished up his glass of water, noticing that the inn had cleared up a bit. "Well, the place seems less crowded than before. Do you want to get a room now?"
Alice glanced at him before looking down at her hands and fidgeting with her fingers. "I know I get that." She whispered as she looked down. Her body was tired and she didn't get much sleep that morning. "We could see about getting a room here for a bit." She said as she glanced back up at him, but she didn't want to admit that she was scared to sleep. She didn't want to have that nightmare again of her brother. She finished the last bit of her food before looking at him again. "If anything we can get a bit more rest here if we do get a room."
Lucas felt kind of uncomfortable during the silence between them, wanting to come up with something and talk about it. He couldn't though...so he continued to eat his meal. Soon enough, he finished it and sipped from his glass of water again before looking up at Alice. She still looked quite tired...and he was quite worried for her. "Alice, you really do look like you could use some rest. I'm being serious, it's obvious that you're overly tired. Don't hurt your body..." He said gently as he sighed.
