Emma smiled as the cold necklace touched the back of her neck. She took the pendant in her hand and played with it a little bit. It was beautiful and had such meaning to it. She hoped her could stay here, go to school here. He would be so much happier and love life. "Is your mom coming to visit soon? If she sees how happy you are, maybe she would be okay with you staying?" she said, getting excited. "But okay, we don't have to talk about it. We'll see what happens." she smiled. "I will also fight for you. If you leave, I will buy plane tickets to see you. I really really like you. I want you in my life." she smiled.
Emma had, yet again, pushed her cigarettes and lighter out of her pocket. She wasn't paying attention to it because she forgot she had not put them back in the house. She knew Cayden would be mad if she was hurting her body that way. She was trying to quit but it was harder than she thought. It helped her stress and she was stressed at school. She wasn't a bad student, she just struggled. She wanted to get into college so she could study what she wanted, theatre. Then she could focus on her career. That's what would make her happy.
Cayden smiled softly as he watched her react. He leaned over and kissed her cheek, wrapping his arms around her when he felt her move closer. [b "I'm going to do everything in my power to convince Mom to let me stay here. You brought me back to life, Emma."] he said softly. He couldn't get the grin off his face when he heard her agree to be his girlfriend. [b "I will always fight for you. Forever."]
He nodded and leaned over, gently pulling the necklace around her neck, he clasped it shut. [b "Perfect."] he said softly. He leaned back and just stared at her. She was the most beautiful person on the planet. [b "Let's not worry about if I have to let just yet. We still have three more weeks."]
As Cayden spoke to her, her face fell. He was saying all these things about pulled away from her. About how it wouldn't work. But her face lit up when he said he wouldn't give up without a fight. "You want to fight for me. . ?" she asks. He pulled out a box from his pocket, and Emma's hands flew to her mouth as he spoke. She agreed, the beach was very special to them. They shared their first day together their, it was special. He then said he wanted to know that she was his girlfriend and tears came to her eyes, and he told her he wanted her to always have piece of him.
As he opened the box, her saw the most beautiful necklace she has seen. "Cayden, yes. I want to be your girlfriend. And this necklace is beautiful, it is my tiny piece of Montana. If you have to leave me,which will not be a good day, I will save so I can see you. I will take planes, trains or drive to come visit you. You are so important to me. Thank you, for everything." she smiled, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Will you put the necklace on me?" she smiled, moving her hair aside so he could clasp it for her.
Cayden jumped out of the truck as soon as he seen Emma. He grinned and walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist. [b "I missed you."] he mumbled. Last night he dreamt about his mother making him go back to Montana, leaving Emma behind, which broke his heart. He buried his face in her neck and hair. [b "Mhm."] Pulling away, he followed her to the beach, and sat down beside her.
He just watched her as she started to babble and stutter. [b "Em."] he said softly. He waited until she was finished talking and just grinned. [b "I don't know what's going to happen in the next couple of weeks. I know that it could be really hard if I get shipped back to Montana, I don't know if it would even work out. But I do know that I'm not going to give up without a fight."] he said.
He reached in the back of his pocked and pulled out a tiny box. [b "I really wanted to be more romantic, but I feel like the beach is such an important place to both of us, so this will do."] He opened the box and reveled a necklace. [b "If I have to go back to Montana, I want to at least go back knowing that you're my girlfriend... And I wanted you to have a piece of me."]
"Hey Montana!" Emma had said as she was him walk toward her and hugged him, smiling. She really liked him, and he meant a lot to her. She pulled away from their hug, and sat down on her towel. "Uh, Montana, I wanted to talk to you. So, the summer is winding down and, well, we never have defined a relationship between us. I mean, I know I like you and I know you like me. I mean, we kiss and basically go on dates, I just don't want to get my hopes up if you don't feel the same way about me" Emma said, biting her lip.
Emma adjusted herself, her cigarettes and lighter getting pushed out of her back pocket. Emma herself didn't notice for a least a few minutes, and when she did, she quickly shoved them back in hr pocket, hoping Cayden didn't notice.
It had been almost two months since Cayden had moved to California. He couldn't remember a time that he'd ever been happier. California made him happy, Emma made him happier. A lot had changed in such a short amount of time. The two still went to parties together, but Emma never got stupid drunk like she had before, and he hadn't had to fight anyone, which was a good thing in his book.
He was downstairs having a cup of coffee with his aunt when his phone rang. He smiled when he seen that is was Emma. [b "I'll be there in ten minute!"] he said. He kisse his Aunt's cheek and then ran upstairs to change. He slipped into his grey checkered swim trunks and a royal blue tee shirt. Slipping into his flip flops, he ran out the door. Even though it was only a short walk, he decided to drive there, just in case she wanted to go somewhere.
**One Month Later**
Emma had never been happier. She was getting her drinking problem under control. She did have a cigarette from time to time, but Montana was NOT going to find out, it wasn't a problem, but he would make her stop. She couldn't completely give it up yet. She had been up for a while this morning, she was having a cigarette this morning along with a cup of green tea. She put out her but and finished her tea. She went to go get ready.
Emma put on a black one piece, still uncomfortable with her body and how skinny she was. She put on a pair of jean shorts and she didn't even need a shirt. She accidentally put her cigs and lighter in her back pocket. She pulled her red hair up in a high bun and grabbed a towel. She headed to Montana's to see her. . .friend. She really felt like he was her boyfriend, as they kissed and went on dates . They had never established a definite relationship between the two, but he was leaving in a month, so she was going to bring it up today at the beach. She headed to the beach, and called Montana. "Hey Montana! Meet me at the beach, let's chill. It's soooo nice out today! And I want to talk to you as well. See you soon!" she said, hanging up. She set up her towel and just laid down, waiting for Cayden.
Cayden just laughed and shook his head as he lisened to her. [b "I'd love to come and watch you, but I'll never be the type for a play."] he said. He looked at her and just sighed. [b "I'd do it for you, but I'm telling you, you don't want me up on a stage."] He was already thinking about later on in the summer when he would have to go back home, and he didn't want that. He'd have to talk to his aunt one day when Emma wasn't around. He'd found a new life here in California, one that he really enjoyed.
He listened and nodded. [b "We can still go out and party, I'm not trying to tell you what to do or how to live your life by any means, but I just think we should slow yours down. I don't want something bad to happen to you, because you've already seen how I'll react.."]
Emma smiled. "Oh, you will be the first one I tell." she smiled. "I actually auditioning for a show this summer. There's a community theatre near by and I'm auditioning." she smiled. "Maybe you can come see it or YOU COULD AUDITION TOO. It's later on and the summer though." Emma smiled.
"Yeah, my party life will probably be a lot less extreme. Especially because people are probably so scared of you after you punched that kid in the face. I never expected you to care about me so much, or to punch someone!" Emma said, smiling. "Thanks again for that." she smiled.
Cayden listened to her and smiled. [b "Then we won't talk about it, love."] he said softly. [b "But just for the record, I hope I get an invitation when you score the big role in a play."] he said. He grinned when he felt her kiss his cheek. [b "You're so cute."]
[b "I seen your party life first hand, it was pretty interesting."] he said, laughing. [b "I still think you can have the home life, and party life.. We just have to make sure that the party life is less extreme."]
Emma got very serious when he said colleges. "Oh, I'm going to theatre school. I haven't picked a school yet, but I'm going to school for theatre." she smiled. Then he mentioned it being in two months. "Oh don't talk about starting school. That's so soon and that's when you have to leave, I don't want to think about that" she said, leaning across the table, kissing his cheek.
Emma listened to him about saying he didn't have much of a life until she came into his life. She smiled, "Oh wow. I had my home life, which wasn't too interesting and my "party life". But I'm glad you can get me into just one life. I'd rather have just one, and one that I can be proud of" she smiled.
Cayden couldn't help but smile as he watched her. She was absolutely unlike any other girl he'd ever met before. He hadn't really dated that much back in Montana. Only once or twice. It now made him quite sad to think about having to go back. He didn't want to leave, he didn't want to go back to his old life. [b "You know. I think I need to start applying to some Colleges.. I start my senior year in two months. It's time to start thinking about it. Where do you want to go?"] he asked as he climbed in the booth.
[b "I really don't have much to tell you, Emma. I was raised by my mother. My father left when I was three. I get birthday cards and money on Christmas. That's about it. My grandfather was the only male figure I had in my life. He raised me into the man that I am now. My bestfriend, hasn't spoken to me since I left."] he said with a chuckle. [b "I didn't have much of a life until I met you."]
"Oh, I know this adorable diner we can go to. Just down the street, it's right on the water." Emma smiled, pointing a little down the road. When he talked about taking a nap, she rolled her eyes. "Fine, maybe I will join you. Maybe I'll just jump up and down on the bed when you try to sleep, or cover you in kisses instead." she smirked, giggling a little bit. She saw as the got close to the diner, and told him to park right in front. "C'mon!" she smiled.
Emma hoped down from the tall truck, taking Montana's hand as they walked into the diner. They were seated quickly and given menus. They were sat next to the window, and she smiled, looking at the gorgeous beach. She looked at the menu, smiling at all the options. "You're getting pancakes, right? I think that's what I want too!" she smiled. An older woman came over, asking if they wanted any drinks. Emma ordered a water and an apple juice, and let the boy get a drink as well. "Now, Montana, tell me about you. I don't know much about you! Tell me about Montana, your family, your friends, all that junk!" she smiled, watching him intensely.
Cayden groaned playfully as he raised up from the bed, opening his eyes. He saw her and instantly smiled. [b "Hungover people aren't supposed to wake up at 9:45 in the morning. Especially considering we didn't go to sleep until very late."] he stated, watching her walk into her bathroom. [b "Hurry up. I just realized how hungry I was."] He stood up and pulled on his shoes. [b "Where do you wanna go, dear?"] he asked. [b "Ijust want pancakes and bacon."]
He grabbed her hand and walked outside. Not paying attenion to her brother. [b "He only said that because he knew it would embarass you."] he said. He walked next door and smiled. [b "You don't have to wait out here, ya'know."] He walked into his house, and seen his aunt already awake. Sitting at the kitchen table. [b "Hey!"] he said and blushed, running up the stairs. [b "You cant't get mad at me. I was with Emma all night. And nothing bad happened!"] he changed ino a pair of black basketball shorts and a white tee shirts. Pulling on his black nike shocks, he slipped on his flip flops. [b "We're going out for breakfast, do you want me to bring you back anything?"] he asked. [b "She's waiting outside. I'll see you later."] he said, leaning down, he kissed her cheek.
He walked on the porch and smiled. [b "Lets go."] he said, walking to his truck, he opened the passenger side and waited for her to get in. [b "I'm taking a nap later, FYI. You can join me if you'd like."] he said, smirking.
Emma heard him tell her to go back to sleep. "Early? Nooo! I'm awake now! Its morning! We can go out to breakfast, I need to eat off my hangover" she smiled. She jumped up from the bed, and grabbed her head. "I'm too hungover to be this happy" she smiled. She went through her clothes, and grabbed a pair of black short shorts and maroon v neck tee-shirt. She went to the bathroom and changed quickly, and headed back into her room. She pulled on some short black socks and some black vans. She went to the mirror, letting her wavy hair down. She brushed her teeth and went back into her room. "I'm ready! Its time for you to get ready! You have to go to aunties and get new clothes." she smiled.
Emma pulled Montana out of the warm bed, smiling. "At least you won't be cold, its already warm outside." she smiled. She let him put on his old clothes so they could go next door. They went downstairs, only her brother was downstairs, playing video games. [b "Sneak your boy out now, mom will be back in five minutes from her jog and yoga class"] her brother shouted. Emma's face got red, the fact that her brother knew to tell her to get a boy out of the house, that it happened that often, made her embarrassed. "I'm going out for breakfast, don't wait up." she said, pushing the boy to Aunties house. "I'll wait on the porch" she smiled. She leaned against the railing, she had a weird craving for a cigarette or a shot. She hadn't had a cig in over 6 months and she didn't want to drink. She was just so confused. She knew Montana liked her a lot and she liked him a lot too, but what would they do? He would leave after the summer, but she didn't want him to ever leave. She shouldn't be thinking about this, she should be thinking positive. She took a deep breath, he should be out any minute.
