You ever hear of the legend of the city of Atlantis? Watch those movies or shows about a city in the middle of the ocean. Well in the year 2035 we found it, though it might not quite fit the usual description. A massive towering city in the middle of the pacific. Situated on a chain of islands that, until that point for one reason or another, had yet to be discovered. Its towering spires a relic in themselves, left over from some ancient civilization. And with its discovery the human race got its hands on all the technology contained within. Advanced hydroponics, alloys, and generators, to name a few. Much of the city's technologies however were locked away, presumably accessible only by the city's previous inhabitants. Still, the insight gained was enough to slingshot the technology available to man leagues into the future.

Today, in the year 2095, the city of Paragon is home to well over 20 million people. Life is relatively good for those living there. The quality of life being significantly higher than much of the rest of the world.
The city is divided into districts, with checkpoints along the borders. Generally most citizens are free to come and go between most districts, barring a few. The only exception is in security issues, where certain citizens can be not only barred from entrance to districts, as well as being flagged for detainment. Crossing districts without passing through the necessary checkpoint is illegal and will be met with an appropriate response. Access to the original city, and the natural landscape of the main island is severely restricted to those under certain clearance levels.

But enough about the city itself. It's the people of the city that mostly make it what it is. What this story is about.
Paragon is a city of wonders and mysteries. From the seemingly impassable tunnels below the city, the impenetrable rooms in the alien section, to the origin of the city itself. It was one of these such mysteries that would serve as a catalyst that would change the city, and the world forever.
March 26, 2095 was as far as the city was concerned started like any other day. Some 4 thousand crimes were committed. Approximately 750 babies were born. An influential billionaire died, leaving a substantial gap in power, a financial dent in the city that would be felt for weeks to come. It was also earth hour day. Though for years to come it would be remembered for something else. That something else occurred at approximately 3:20 in the afternoon. Originating from deep within the metal base of the city what could only be described as a pulse passed throughout the city. Like a soundless sound-wave passing through the body, the entire city would experience this phenomena, and to a lesser extent the hemisphere surrounding the island. What followed for the majority of those that felt the pulse was a short bout of unconsciousness. At the least, it would last but a minute or two, and six or seven at most.
All over the world this pulse would be the subject of long standing debate and conjecture, and the ramifications of it would be felt years, with a great many fatalities, from accidents and malfunctions. Fortunately for the residents of Paragon, with much of the city's transportation being automated or on foot, casualties were low, and life returned to normal within the week.
However the city, would soon find that everything was not so normal.
That... pulse, that - thing. It changed things. Six weeks after, reports of people having abilities started cropping up, and just as quickly, they were snuffed out; buried under lies and propaganda. But some way or another you've seen it and as it stands, you too are one of these... Chosen few. To be granted with this gift, or curse. You quickly find that showing off means that you end up missing, and for now.

This is going to be a rather fast paced RP. Like daily fast, ideally.
Keep in mind there is power scaling in this RP. Meaning you don't start out with with the full extent of your powers, if you start with them at all. Whether you start off with having just discovered them, a few weeks after, or just before, keep this in mind.

A teenager leaned back into his seat. Just a few more stops before he was home. The sensation of riding backwards while music streamed through his headphones served as distractions. That was exactly what Yohan J Lee needed, even if it had to come in the form of slightly crowded public transportation with blinking fluorescent overheads. Tired eyes glazed over; this was his stop.
He climbed up the stairs, going around the back and leaning his ear against the door. As quietly as possible, Yohan entered the apartment. The state of both the kitchen and hallway were notably cleaner than earlier today. His teeth clenched, fighting the desire to just turn around and leave. Fighting the desire to throw up. He would silently go to his room, lock the door and mind his own business until tomorrow morning. He would do it without questioning anything until then.
Yohan glared at his phone. One text from their mother, asking how things were since he moved in to be closer to his school. It must have been the hundredth time he's had to lie for his sister since he first started living with her. He set an alarm for school tomorrow and burrowed into the comforter, trying to pretend it were some sort of hole one could escape into and stop existing. Even a mere five hours of not existing would be fine. [#530063 "Why can't I fucking do anything?"] the teen whispered.
Pockets, absolutely covered in pockets. It was a necessity after all. The cargo pants, the hoodie, the mask which was so lovingly sewn into her hood. She drew it forward, the shiny black mask covering her eyes, a field of red energy covering the rest of it. She chuckled to herself, kicking her legs off the side of the building she was sitting on.
[+red "The Obliterator Miner's Mask. Destroys foreign contaminants or your money back."] With a smirk, she leapt to her feet, her soles resting on the edge of the stone. She ran to the back of the building, jumping to the edge of the fire escape, and dropping levels quickly, grabbing each railing in succession until she reached the ground level, soft rattling echoing from her many, many pockets as she dropped. She had a few more people that she needed to antagonize. With a widening grin, she sprinted through what she'd call the city's 'Undergrowth'. Ducking through alleys and behind late night corner stores. There was always a crowd to dodge through, even late at night. This city never slept, no matter what anyone said.
She was coming up on her objective. The lower district school campus. It was full of graffiti, and she planned on leaving plenty of marks all about the place. Whether it was simply her signature, or a grander work of art, she wasn't leaving without stirring something up. With a practiced motion, she took a couple of cans, archaic in design, one white topped, the other scarlet. It took her only a few seconds to emblazon her emblem on the nearest wall. She had to stop only shortly to make sure she'd done it right, and sure enough, before her was a Shortcake, with a little cherry on top.
Invigorated, she rattled her cans, sprinting about the place, finding any wall which would hold her expression. After maybe an hour of tagging up, the place, she decided to tag something grander. She traded her white can for her black, keeping the scarlet close at hand, that grin widened, and she spent the better part of a half hour carefully designing that swallow tailed suit, putting the red eyes but no face on top. She stuffed both her cans away and touched it up with the white can, highlighting the eyes and the suit. With just a few steps back, it was perfect. She took her scarlet back out and left a little shortcake under the figure, just as quickly stuffing the cans back into her pockets and bolting back towards home.

[+skyblue "I dunno! Stop rushing me."]
[+orangered "Jesus. Hurry the fuck up. That patrol is gunna come back any minute."]
It was nearing midnight, and the pair of thugs were huddled near the rear entrance to a pawnshop. One was a younger kid approximately 4 and a half feet tall, presumably no more than 14. He was messing with the door's datapad, trying to hack it.
The second was a much larger teen, standing a whole two feet over the younger kid. In his hand was a large metal bat. Both were covered in dark clothing and wearing hoods.
[+skyblue "I got it, Anno!"]
[+orangered "Good, lets go, before it comes back."]
The pad turned green, and the latch to the door clicked open.
The two quickly ducked inside. It was dark and musty inside. Like the place hadn't seen any activity in a month or two. The owner had been one of the few who had died during the pulse, having fallen in a bad way.
[+skyblue "What're we looking for?"]
[+orangered "Anything I can sell, that we can carry. Like that. Grab that box of hypos."]
The pair split up in the shop searching for valuables to steal from a dead man. While perusing the wares, Anno came across a weapon's cabinet. Just what he was hoping for. He slid the latch to the side and opened the cabinet. In doing so, unfortunately he tripped an alarm.
[+orangered "Fuck! I thought you shut down the security!"]
[+skyblue "No! I just opened the door, were rushing me!"]
[+orangered "Damn it. We need to go. Now."]
Anno stuffed as many of the munitions into his hoodie as he could and made for the door, the younger kid a step behind him. Striding out of the shop, the two were met with a Parasec patrol drone.
[b -Surrender all weapons and put your hands on the ground. You are under arrest. All attempts-]
In the middle of the drone's pre-recorded arrest statement, utilizing his athletics skills, Anno brought down the metal bat on top of the robot with the full force afforded to him. The act knocked the drone right out of the air, causing it to clatter to the ground loudly. Once there Anno slammed the bat into it again, as it tried to finish it's statement with a damaged speaker. Only after he'd struck it another two times did the drone cease to function any more.
[+orangered "We gotta go. Scraps are gunna be here any second now."]
[+skyblue "Are you sure we'll be okay going through the sewers? What if-"]
[+orangered "Yes. I've done it a hundred times and I've never had a problem."]
[+skyblue "But what if it's true?!"]
[+orangered "Shut up and get in the hole. You don't wana get locked up do you?"]
Irritated at the result of the break-in, he bullied the younger kid into the into the nearby manhole. Supposedly the sewers and the sublevels below were highly dangerous, due to the electrical anomalies that occurred the deeper you go. Anno was an adept at using them to make a clean getaway. After all. He'd never once been caught by an anomaly and burnt to a crisp. Why would he now?
Another fence, into a backyard fixed with turf beneath his feet. The sound of heavy panting beneath a gas mask accompanied by the sound of aluminum cans clinking against each other as they shook back and fourth with every step. Behind him sirens and shouting as he continued on slipping through an alley and then up a wall onto a small garage that led him to an apartment's outside stairwell scaling it to the top and from there onto the roof where he bolted to a destination that only he, and a few others knew of.
He'd given them the slip, it was a joke, district 20's enforcement mostly consisted of automatons. Of course when they realized tin-can's couldn't exactly stop him and his crew from tagging every flat wall in the sector they started dispatching real police. Who, of which of course caught them off guard at first, using bullets against kids wasn't something anyone really saw coming. But that didn't stop anyone from outrunning those bloated assholes. Taking a seat removing his mask to reveal his dark skinned face he leaned back slipping his phone from his pocket. He'd gotten a text.
[Sedgwick+Ave+Display [size15[+orange [center [b King:] [i Yo do me a solid Hit up the throne tomorrow morning hear some shit's been tagging on our turf ill hit you with some breakfast if you do hit me up after]]]]]
He ran his hands through his hair. King never did like to use grammar in his texts. He swore It was the reason they never got any real work when it came to clients. The wind picked up blowing his hood off of his head as he peered down at the neon streets from his perch at the district 20 construction yard climbing down as the sirens from before faded into the night.

Following the last lyrics of a cringe teenage grunge song the teenage singer guitarist could do nothing but feel the sting of the sweat in his eyes and the satisfaction of a performance well done. The round of applause was meager, but welcoming. The crowd wasn't very big, but that didn't matter. It was his first successful [i paying] gig, and as far as he could tell it was pretty well appreciated for such a niche genre.
Typheus Ingram Keene has taken the first step on what could hopefully be the road to recurring employ, he thought, as he and his bandmates filed out of the club some time later. The city was beautiful, especially on a night such as this one. It was something Ty was reminded of every time he road the magtram home. Vibrant and bustling Paragon was everything he wanted in a home city and more. If he could he would stay out all night. Resolved to sacrifice some of his sleep, Ty had gotten everything he'd hope for from it. Now, he'd have to uphold his end of the bargain. Lest she bar him from going out like this again.
Ty arrived home right on time, and swiftly made for his bed. After all he had school in the morning.
