Alex quieted down, trying to hear for any signs of the teleporters' attack. [b "Can you tell how far they are?"] he asked her.
Ari woke up and laid there listening to their surroundings. "Kurt and Azazel are here."
[b "We have to break out of this hellhole first,"] Alex glared at the crumbling walls around them. [b "Hopefully they're working a bit faster to get us out."]
"don't worry, there will be but first we have to get rid of the asshole running it currently." Mystique said.
[b "If she can convince this country of the good we can bring, then she could influence the rest of the world to follow,"] Alex agreed. [b "We need to make sure she has a country left to lead after this war."]
Mystique nodded and said. "She'll be firm about her policies but also generous with her people I believe. I'm sure she'll make this country better than Genosha."
Alex thought back to his parents' frightened expressions when he and Scott first began showing signs of their mutations. The fear that was flashing, and the way their hands shook. If parents couldn't accept their mutant children, how would the rest of the world?
[b "Like Erik said. If anyone can start the change, it's Ari."]
"unfortunately this is a good example..." She said and gestured to their surroundings. "But humanity has been adapting and evolving since the first homo sapiens were born.... So why couldn't they adapt to us wanting to coexist?"
[b "Humanity has never been known to be understanding of things or people that are different,"] Alex responded sadly. [b "They are easily threatened. Anything that could change their status quo throws them into a panicked state."]
"but we shouldn't have to be ranked by what our abilities are." Mystique argued. "I mean, for God's sake, we're human too... Just different than others...."
[i "There's talk of a mutant registry through Congress,"] Storm's voice joined the conversation. [i "To document everyone with mutations, no matter how minor. To monitor what they view as a potential threat."]
She nodded and said. "I know.... And hopefully things will get better after we get out."
[b "If this is any indication of how that is going to go,"] he eyed the decaying cell they were in. [b "We'll need to stay prepared for a fight."]
"while he has made great strides on that front, we believe that we should show the world that mutants exist and aren't going anywhere anytime soon."
Alex sat quietly for a moment, considering her words. [b "Humans have been around millions of years and there's yet to be peace. Humans are afraid of what they don't know. They're instinct is to fight. Charles won't change that with U.N. conferences and diplomatic talks."]
