[center [font "book antiqua" Soft squeaks drew green eyes down to a cinnamon colored hedgehog. The jostling of the carriage seemed to upset the poor creature. Sofi understood his discomfort as she too hated traveling long distances like this. It was much different than traveling by car which was by far much smoother than this. To her, it felt like the nauseous feeling that she felt after eating anything or drinking anything that was made with dairy. If it lasted much longer, she would lose her breakfast for certain.

The driver could have been a bit gentler with his driving, but she supposed that he too was in a rush to be done with this journey so that he could do whatever it was that he was so eager to do. “It’s okay, Sidney, I promise we’re almost there. Maybe someone will get some whipped cream tonight~ Or even a few extra grub worms for dinner~” She rarely fed him fatty foods or overfed him, but he’d earned it this time. The girl hoped that her dorm-mate didn’t mind the furry creature as she’d no intent of getting rid of him. Sofi extended a gloved hand down into the travel carrier for Sidney, and brushed her index finger against him gently to calm him down. Even though she took careful care of her hands to ensure that they remained undamaged, she was willing to allow herself to be pricked by herself to be pricked by her small companion’s quills that didn’t hurt all that much to begin with.

It felt so strange to be returning to school so soon after leaving one, but it was also exciting at the same time- surreal even. Though, after attending an all boy’s school, anything would feel surreal, she imagined. A soft snort left the girl. It was also strange to be attending the school as “Sofi” instead of “Sidney”; she was so used to the male alias by now that addressing herself as “Sofi” in public seemed strange. The chance to have interaction with other people that were not her family or the townspeople was something that excited her more than she would admit.

Sofi lifted Sidney onto her lap carefully. The carriage hit a hole in the road hard enough to jostle her to where she dropped the poor critter onto the floor of the carriage. As the door opened, she all but threw herself outside- not even caring that she was wearing a skirt or that it might be unbecoming of a princess to get her socks dirty on the grass. “Milady, we’ve arrived. You might wish to put your shoes on before you go inside?” She cast him a menacing glare, but accepted the advice and slid the heeled boots onto her feet.

“Where’s Sidney?”

“Princess, you are Sidney,” The man mused knowingly- befuddled at the girl’s question. She smoothed down the pockets in her blue skirt to make sure that he wasn’t hiding in the frills of her dress.

“No, not me. My pet,” Came her clipped response as she hoisted herself back up into the carriage to check the floor. He wasn’t there either. Casting a look back to the large school in front of her, she let out a frustrated groan. He could easily be anywhere. “This is your fault.” She hissed- taking the travel carrier with her as she once more left the infernal contraption that’d carried her here. “Next time, be a bit gentler with the landing.” The blonde pressed her nose to the air- not even caring about what he had to say next.

The grounds of the school were lovely, but she hadn’t much time to check them out in much detail as the brown hedgehog could be hiding literally anywhere. She frantically moved around- moving branches out of the way to check and see if he was hiding. More than likely, he would be thrilled by all of the new things that he would be able to eat. Sofi found it strange that there had not been people about to greet them, but perhaps it was for the best that there were less feet walking about and less chances that someone might accidentally trample her prickly companion.

After giving up the search of the garden, the blonde was a bit disheveled, but she smoothed her short hair back down as it had been before she’d left the carriage. Sofi supposed she might as well play the part of a royal lady- despite never having truly acted like one before. She opened the front door of the manor- awed by the inside. The way that it echoed reminded her so much the places she loved to perform. A screaming voice drew her attention back to her mission. She drew closer to the girl who was currently screaming at a male who held a pair of undergarments in his hands. Sofi was less interested in what she was saying, and far more interested in the critter that ran toward the girl’s bountiful skirts.

“Pardon, I do hate to interrupt, but, this is truly of import.” Sofi motioned to the creature as it disappeared underneath the other woman’s legs. “My hedgehog crawled underneath your skirts. Move or lift up your skirt so I can grab him.” Sofi demanded impatiently. She’d truly had enough chasing him around, and would rather just put him where he belonged so that she could go about her own business. ]]

A naginata that was made for him upon completing the training that was required of him to become a guard for the village’s Miko.

[#A57164 「] вιograpнy [#A57164 」]

✧ A foreigner who was quick to learn the regional language and customs immigrated to the Isles and married a woman there. Not too long after, they had children. While everyone was quick to accept the man and his children of half foreign blood, there was still idle gossip behind closed doors if one listened closely. Tooru grew up learning to ignore the pointed stares from the other villagers. He also ignored the pleas from the village elders to stray from those that they found stranger than a person of mixed blood. Namely- one who claimed she could hear voices.

✧ Hanae was one he was close to as a child. Many of the other children stayed away from her because of her eccentric behavior, but he refused to leave her side.

✧ As Tooru matured, he found himself desiring more freedom and less constraints of formal weapon training or even education. Tutors always asked what he wanted to do with himself, and he always replied: 「I only want to live a long, happy life 」To which they usually found a quite mundane answer compared to some of the others who desired political jobs or even military ones. For him, it was much easier to flirt his way into free food and drink at the local tea house. He drew away from the only close friend that he made as a child as she was pushed further and further into her work. He still had his sister, and a small group of friends.

✧ His father was the one who taught him how to wield and use a Naginata properly as he himself had been trained. Tooru enjoyed the training, but not the physical exertion that was demanded of him. His father always told him 「The greatest ingenuity looks like stupidity 」- meaning that he should try hard, but not too hard so as to be used by others, and he was quick to take these words to heart.

✧ Not many years later, he was drawn to the thought of leaving the village. It had become stifling to live in such a small village where he had no peace of mind any longer. It was his father’s decision to enroll Tooru in the training to be a local Miko’s guard. He thought it a bit strange that she would need a guard since Miko were always surrounded by other priestesses. However, he finished the training, and accepted his new position- only to find out that the Miko in question was Hanae. The strange girl that the other villagers had pushed him from when they were children was his new charge. It seemed they were stuck with each other now- not that he minded too terribly.

✧ At least he would get his wish to leave the village, and she would get her wish for more freedom.

「TL;DR; 」 A boy of mixed blood who learned the art of using pole-arms to become the guard of a local Miko who ended up being a childhood friend. Someone who desires more from life than just being used by other people.

✧ Tosho Sen was born to a courtesan mother and a shinobi father who belonged the the Koide Clan. Her father's death weighed heavily on her mother after the slaughtering of many in the village. In a desperate plea, a family friend of the Tosho family agreed to take in the toddler for a large sum of money.

✧ From the age of four to ten, Sen apprenticed under an older Maiko. She grew infatuated with the art of calligraphy and the written word. It was here under her apprenticeship that she earned the nickname 'Tosho-Hime'. Her training as a Maiko progressed until she fell during a practice dance and injured her ankle. As she was no longer able to perform, Sen was released from her apprenticeship at the age of thirteen- just a few years before she would have become more than an apprentice.

✧ She sought out the village historian who demanded she leave a piece of knowledge there before she made her own plea. 「 You must leave knowledge to receive it. 」 were his words to her. She offered him the pieces of calligraphy that she'd kept from her days as an apprentice. He seemed more than pleased by the offering.

✧ Having no children of his own, the older man took Sen under his wing, and taught her how to read properly and how to protect herself should she need to do so since the girl had had no formal weapons training before now. The old tomes and scrolls filled with more knowledge than the girl could imagine. The history of the clans were written on ink and paper. After the rumors that those that had come to the village were otherworldly, she wanted to find out if these were true or not. At eighteen, the man died of old age, and Sen took over as the historian for the village willingly.

[size15 Name- Veloce Kava
Alias(es)- N/A
Age- Twenty-Five
Sex/Gender- Female/Female
Sexual Orientation- Homosexual

Blood Type- Tiramisu
Nationality- The Ember Isle is where I was born, but I'd hardly call it home. My current residence is located in the Grain Kingdom.

Occupation- Formerly, I was a slave. Now, I translate ancient texts into the common language of the allied kingdoms.

[size30 [+319177 「] Personality [+319177 」]]

I'm an [b intelligent] individual who likes to make friends despite my first love being first and foremost the books of which I pour most of my time into. I am [b amiable] and friendly around most people who I feel confident about. Though, like a hedgehog, I can be a bit prickly at times with those whom I don't trust. Due to my past, trust does not come easily with me, and while I try not to be, I'm highly suspicious of anyone who tries to get close. I occasionally have neurotic episodes of which it's hard to calm down from, and severe PTSD from the years that I spent as a slave to the cult.

[left [pic http://i.imgur.com/nXgwBrn.jpg]]
[size30 [+319177 「] I am strong against... [+319177 」]]

My strength lies in my knowledge of the old tomes that I love. I'm also a pretty decent chef if I want to be as I grew up in a bakery when I was young. Pastries are an art that I love to create when I am able. I held onto a select few recipes my mother taught me that I love to share. I am also quite good at adapting to my surroundings.

[size30 [+319177 「] I am weak against... [+319177 」]]

My biggest weakness is my own mind. Occasionally, I get trapped in my own thoughts and fears. I'm afraid to trust people, and that is perhaps why so many possible friendships have fallen apart in the making- due to my pushing them away so the won't get too close to me. While I'm not prone to many neurotic episodes, they do happen, and this is likely my biggest pitfall. I have no knowledge of how to flirt, but I'm weak to a pretty face and a good personality- mainly those of other women.

[size30 [+319177 「] History [+319177 」]]

My story started on the Ember Isle- a large Isle filled with inventive folk that many say rival that of the allied nations. My parents owned a bakery, and I grew up to appreciate the smell of fresh baked bread. When I turned five, even my tiny hands were elbow deep kneading dough for that day's batch until my mother decided that she wanted my brother and me to have a better education. We were taught to read and write, and were given a history lesson on the allied kingdoms even though our nation kept to itself in hopes that we'd be left alone.

The people of the Isle have long believed in many gods who were more like spirits than true gods. Even agnostic people like myself left them small offerings on the solstices, and wished they'd look over the people for another year.

This all changed as a group of missionaries who claimed themselves to Shamans of the goddess Atris- a virgin goddess- arrived on the Isle. I was only about thirteen at the time- an impressionable age for a girl- and my brother was about fifteen. These Shamans quickly harnessed the growing resentment that the people felt, and pushed them into the religion that they brought along with them. We were still allowed to worship our own gods as long as Atris was among them, and was the most front and center. Most of the people fell into line with the Shamans easily. My parents and brother were among them- lapping up every word as though they were hungry for more.

A church was built in Atris' name, and we were forced to go to sermons. I found them horrifying to the point where I often had nightmares that were hard to quiet me down from if I was too riled up. These nightmares only escalated when I was chosen by the head shaman to become a priestess for Atris. My mother was quick to accept, but after I told her what becoming a priestess entailed, she to was afraid.

Before the sixteenth birthday of the priestesses, they must undergo a procedure that removes their reproductive organs, and any chance for sexual stimulation or reproduction. They also undertake life long chastity vows that would result in permanent shun from the church. While I had no intent of having children in the near future, the idea of mutilating my body so was horrifying. Being a homosexual woman surely didn't help much- although this was a secret I kept to myself, and attempted to suppress. My mother attempted to run away with me, but we were caught the next day.

As we were brought before the head shaman, I realized this was not a religion, but a cult. We were stripped from any titles we had. My mother lost her job, and my father and brother shunned us from the house. We became slaves in an effect, and lost all rights to speak for ourselves. There were others like us too, but we never spoke to each other. Perhaps too fearful of the our overseers to do so. We did all of the chores for the church, and if things weren't exactly the way they'd been asked of us, then we were beaten. If we so much as ate one more scrap of food than we were given, we were beaten as well. I further repressed my sexuality in hopes that that wouldn't give me other reasons to beat me. Keeping my head down, and surviving was far more important.

When I turned eighteen, a man of the church offered to marry me- even though the women had made it clear that I was worth less than the dirt they walked on. Having no say in the matter, I was moved from the grungy basement with my meager belongings and into the man's well off home. I felt almost resentful at the fact that he'd separated me from my mother- even though I learned later that this was her way of saving me from that life. I was difficult, and refused food and proper bedding for days until I finally realized he was there to help me. He'd married me, but expected nothing in return, and only wished to help ease the fears that had become so ingrained in my every day being.

I lived with him for about two years. The wounds I received from the beatings healed over time, but they left scars, and deeper wounds to my psyche. The nightmares never stopped, but grew less and less, and my nearly neurotic behavior had ceased. He was a scholar from the allied nations who had become a citizen here. He helped me rekindle my love for literature and knowledge.

Under the ruse of going to collect more books for his personal study, we left the Ember Isle, and he pushed me to leave. I didn't want to leave in fear that I would get in trouble again. I didn't want to go back to living like a slave after having known the outside world. I also didn't want to leave the kind hearted man who helped me see that not all of those people were monsters. However, he insisted that I stay with his family in the Grain Kingdom.

With nowhere else to go, I did as I was told. They found me a job- working on translating old texts that I'd read about in books, and that's where I've been ever since. Working for the nobles has it's perks, but I still think about those people who I left behind. I harbor a lot of guilt for what happened in my past, and even working here hasn't changed that fact.

I'm happier now at least for the time being. The work keeps me busy, and I have no real complaints about much these days. The people that I lived with supported the rebellion, and I too supported the cause. The high tariffs had drained the kingdom dry. The new king is still learning, but I admire his resilience. Even after the uprising a few years ago, my work has still been steady- if not growing more and more each day.

[size30 [+319177 「] Miscellaneous [+319177 」]]

✧ Her favorite pastry to make is strudel of varying flavors.
✧ Despite the man she married not having any contact with her, they are still married so that the cult does not become suspicious of them.
✧ She has a bad habit of falling asleep at her desk rather than her bed.
✧ Veloce is not very open about her sexuality- which leads to some confusion from potential partners at times. The church did not accept homosexuality, and she is still learning that it is common and accepted elsewhere. ]]

[center [font "book antiqua" Red hair fell like ruby rivulets across her shoulder- crisscrossed together in a loose braid, and tied with a dark blue ribbon that matched the one on the front of her blouse. A single loose strand was twirled around her index finger as she idly flipped the pages of a book that appeared to be well read by the wear and tear on the cover.

Occasionally, the woman gazed out the window of the train as they passed through unknown territory. Even though it wasn’t quite as satisfying as knowing that Hogwarts would be her final destination at the end of this train ride, she was content with the train ride itself. She was also content that what lay at the tracks was a possible new life. Something much more interesting than pushing papers, and fetching coffee for bossy, unappreciative coworkers.

To think that Mischa had almost put the poster for Mont Blanc through the shredder when she’d seen it. She’d been sure that it was a prank or that someone had left it in her stack of papers by mistake. Besides, nothing was truly free, was it? Her curiosity had gotten the better of her, and with her interest fully piqued, she found out that it was indeed a real place. Not a scam nor a joke! There were many factors that made Mischa decide to take the journey to Mont Blanc- the chance to meet new people, the chance to finish a book she’d been working on for years, and simply to gain more confidence- all worked in her favor.

Her elderly parents asked her to stay with them while she looked for a better job, but she told them that she had to see this through, and that she would call as often as she could. It wasn’t a lie, necessarily, but the alone time would do her some good. Her parents meant well, and she loved them, but they couldn’t relate to her which made certain things difficult.

All of the thoughts that had bothered her for most of the day evaporated from the woman’s mind as the train slowly made its way through a tunnel and slowed to a halt at the station. This place was incredibly beautiful- even though she’d barely seen any of it. Large trees loomed over them- much bigger than she’d seen before. Was it childish to be so amazed? She closed the book sitting in her lap and quickly placed it in the bag that rested at her hip and gripped the handle on her luggage before disembarking.

It was much windier here than she’d expected. If it were any breezier, it might be a bit chilly despite the fact that it was Spring. Luckily she wore pants instead of a dress. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself the moment she set foot here. The air was fresh without the smell of car exhaust or gasoline. “[#58427C Welcome to Mont Blanc. You must be-]“ He paused as if asking her for her name.

“[#9C2542 Mischa. Mischa Vandom,]” The girl answered with a smile. He extended his hand, and she shook it lightly.

“[#58427C My name is Montgomery Éclair- mayor of this scenic retreat. If you would like, you can head to the inn, and show the innkeeper the poster. Please do settle in and explore the town, and later tonight, you can come to the town center where we’ll have a party to welcome you to Mont Blanc.]” He spoke formally as he introduced himself- obviously pleased that people had taken an interest in the offer that he- or she supposed it was him- had put out there.

With a nod of her head and a simple thank you, Mischa followed a dirt path that lead from the station to the town center. It didn’t appear to be a very large town- even in person as everyone was seemingly mapped out around the square. The inn was situated off to the side of the square. It had an outdoorsy charm, but didn’t lack modern comforts. There was electricity, but no internet- which was more than fine as she felt she needed to disconnect for a while anyway since all she'd done for a whole year after graduation was stare at a computer screen whilst pushing papers. Luckily, most of the research for her book had been finished. It just needed to be written. That was the easy part she guessed.

Mischa signed her name on the guest log, and received her key for her suite. Room 103 A. She’d been told they would receive their own rooms, but even if that wasn’t the case, she wouldn’t mind sharing as she’d lived with people for the past four years.

The suite itself was fairly large, and contained two bedrooms. It was a lot of space for two people, and it was made to appear even larger by the large bay windows that allowed a fair amount of sunlight to light up the suite as well as the rooms. “[#9C2542 Well, it’s not Hogwarts,]” The girl muttered to herself. “[#9C2542 But it’ll do,]” She added appreciatively at her newfound space. ]]

People need to chill the fuck out. We get that no one likes search threads, but the whole "I get it, another search thread" starter is starting to get extremely old. There is no need for that when you could just describe what you're looking for. Who CARES what other people think of you?

And the excessive cursing? Yeah, that doesn't make you likeable either. It's not cute, and it's not funny.

[center [size15 After thinking on this idea for a while, I've decided that I would like to do a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type story line. The format of this might be a bit strange to do on ES, but I'm willing to try it out with any interested parties. I'd be willing to accept two writers for this- each one will get their own thread, so, no, this is not a group. Please just send a PM with your interest, and we can see if we can hash out the details.

I have a few ideas in mind, but right now, I'll only list potential plot devices or settings that I would very much like to do as well as rules for the RP itself. I really want someone who is willing to be very involved. And while this is not a warning or me trying to scare you into making "the right choice", but do keep in mind that the choices you make affect not only your muse, but their interactions with others as well as their potential environments.

➽➽➽ For images, I highly prefer anime/art/drawn pictures/semi-realistic portraits that are high in quality, and not too big, too small, or not blurry. No over-sexual images please.
➽➽➽ I don't think I can stress this enough, but please, please be open to more than just Male/Female pairings. Romance in this may certainly exist, but please do not be dead set on strictly heterosexual relationships. I have nothing against them, but they're not my preference.
➽➽➽ That being said, romance is not the main point of this. The main point is two writers weaving an complex story with many possible outcomes.
➽➽➽ I think I'd like to find someone willing to control the environment and NPCs while I play a character, but I would certainly be willing to experiment a little. Just be gentle with me those that do play DnD as I do not play dice games like this, and really don't have experience in that at all. But I'm more interested to see how an RP set up like this translates on ES.
➽➽➽ Be willing to communicate with me through realtime chats or through the PM box.
➽➽➽ I don't mind slow posters at all. I understand that everyone has a life outside of ES, and I am willing to be patient as long as I know I won't be strung along~ I won't pester you to post, and I expect the same courtesy. Sometimes it takes me an hour, sometimes a few days. My creativity comes and goes. ]]
