A chill rises with a late morning dawn.

It's time.

Soon we must take our place with the enemy.

"The world doesn't know the life we give for it. Those who walk about, who can't see us, who don't believe in us, they can never know what we do for them. Be it summer or winter, the blessed or the cursed, we aid those who cannot see, who cannot remember in some way."
~An Unknown Fey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun rises late above the horizon. Its warm life-enriching rays spilling over frosted blades of grass, fallen logs, and cold bodies of water. Creatures, both from the realm of Man and Underhill spill out to start their day or scurry into the deep burrows of their homes to sleep it away. Another morning started, another night finished- And yet?
This day, this morning with a chilled breeze and late rising sun is the beginning to something greater than anyone in the realm of Man could understand. The color of tree leaves lighten, shift; a slight change, unnoticed by human eyes, unfelt by the human soul. Such an insignificant thing- If you were human.
But the realm of Man means nothing here. They are entertainment, fools, and flesh to chew. They are what we make them, what we give them. They are nothing. We are everything.
Who are we? We are the fey, the mythical beings of the past; the monsters in the dark corners under the bed or hiding behind ridiculous stripped sweaters hanging in a closet. We haunt the nights and steal maidens by twilight. We are simply the true simplicity, true beings of the world.
Summer time is over. The day the sun rose late marked its final passage. We of the Blessed murmur our soft goodbyes. We are the Seelie Court, the Summer is our time of rule. And with the cold breeze of fall we know we will be departing from our summer Covent to take up the goblet of peace with our enemy. Honor is our legacy, and we take arm to our duty without frown or sneer. Some even will go with smiles on their lips as the ideals of newfound love that will become possible.
However we place honor above our heated passion of hate, and the beauty of love above our knowledge that at some point in some day we may have to raise sword, dagger, or hand to those we march to hold court with. We will go with grace to this place of falsehood, tricks, lies. We will go, our heads held high, and our arms spread open in cheer. We will do this for this is tradition, this is the law of Underhill, and this is who we are. We shall honor and follow the code of our court.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Code of the Seelie Court

1. Death Before Dishonor: A member of the Seelie Court would protect his or her honor to the death. Honor was the single source of glory for the Seelie, the only way to attain recognition. A true Seelie would rather have died than live with personal dishonor, and would never bring dishonor to another of the Seelie.

2. Love Conquers All: For the Seelie, love was the perfect expression of the soul. It transcended all other things. Though romantic love was considered to be the highest and purest form of love, platonic love was also encouraged.

3. Beauty is Life: Beauty was one of the first tenants of the Seelie Court. To belong, a faery had to be beautiful, and all beauty was to be protected. The Seelie were known to go to war to protect beauty, whether it was a beautiful person, place, or thing.

4. Never Forget a Debt: This tenant worked in two ways. The Seelie were bound by their code of honor to repay any debt owed as soon as was possible. This included both favors and insults. The Seelie would repay a favor in a timely fashion. At the same time, they would exact vengeance almost immediately.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally! We have waited so long. Summer is such a bothersome season. With every breath of that warm cheerful air, we tend to wish we could smother ourselves. Those silly traditionalists with their annoying rulings over every little thing we do. "Don't go there; don't eat that." Spit on the whole lot of them. The Blessed- Who are they kidding? Without us, they would walk around in circles all day, practically drowning if it rains- Their noses stuck so far up in the sky. Though they may not like to admit it, they need us. No such thing as a blessing without its curse.
We are the Cursed, the Urseelie Court. Though tradition binds us to make the march to the peace lands, we plan to take our sweet time at it. The only good thing that comes out of this blasted mix of courts is that the Seelie can't tell us what to do anymore- At least not with only their strict code of conduct. Oh we have our own code, but at least with it we aren't lying to ourselves. Honor? Yes, well please pass the traitor card here. And Duty? Bah! Only during the mixing court do we hang our heads to such low standards as being true to duty.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Code of the Urseelie Court

1. Change is Good: The Urseelie firmly believed that security was an illusion. They considered chaos to be the ruling force in the universe, and accepted that they had to adapt and change to survive.

2. Glamour is Free: Glamour was the magick of the Daoine Sidhe. Both the Seelie and Urseelie possessed its power. However, the two Courts had differing opinions over its use. The Urseelie believed that to have power and not to use it was near to sin. They used their power for whatever they saw fit.

3. Honor is a Lie: The Urseelie placed no stock in the ideals of honor. Instead, they pursued their own self-interests vigorously. The Urseelie felt as if truth could be only be reached through a devotion to self, not a devotion to others.

4. Passion Before Duty: Passion was considered to be the truest state of being. The Urseelie acted without thought on pure instinct and passion.

The Courts

Seelie Court: Rules over summer.

Royal Family: Sidhe who wield power over nature- life, light, warmth, and Fey Glamour.

Nobility/Officers/High Ranked Guards: Sidhe who wield spring and summer type elemental power and Fey Glamour.

Appearance: Beautiful men and woman who appear to be human, but give off an unearthly glow. Pointed ears and large brilliantly colored eyes are trademark. They prefer to stand with tradition in wearing robes, gowns, embroiled tunics and leather britches. Spring flower vibrant colors to soft summer forest colors account for their color choices.

Other:

Sylphs- Winged fey who tend to be rather small, though can choose to grow in size. They are the Seelie court messengers. They enjoy Fairy wine and eat sweets. They can be mischievous. They have the power of flight, and fey glamour.

Forest Trolls- These large brutes are tamed by the Seelie Nobility, and act as low ranked guards. They hold no true smarts and listen to direct commands that they have been taught. They do hold some emotion, though as long as their basic needs are meant they are satisfied. Fey glamour is thier only power.

Dwarves- They are short burly men and women who create Fairy metal and work in the armory. They can be rather grouchy, and if one wants something from them, they must first offer a trade of something shiny. Depending on what you want depends on how much you must offer. Dwarves are neutral. Their power consists of Fey metal forging and powerful runes.

Sun Elves- These men and woman stand highest at 5’4”. They are quick creatures and tend to be handmaids and butlers to the Seelie court as their speed can be unmatched. They can also make wonderful assassins as well as spies. They hold a special skill in speed power along with their fey glamour.

Humans- Servants who have lost their way in Underhill or have been tricked into servitude. They hold no freewill and tend to smell rather bad to the fey of both Courts though the Seelie Court does not treat them as vermin or food like the Urseelie court would. Urseelie Court absolutely despises humans, seeing them weak.

Fey Hounds- Loyal and trusting creatures, they obey their master's commands. They love to hunt, and though they seem like pets, they can speak for themselves and make choices that didn't undermined their master's wishes.

Wild Fey Horses- These wild and untamed horses are ridden by the royal family alone. No other of the Seelie court can control the beasts. The Dwarves especially dislike these creatures.

Urseelie Court: Rules over winter.

Royal Family: Sidhe who wield power over nature- death, darkness, cold, and Fey Glamour.

Nobility/Officers/High Ranked Guards: Sidhe who wield fall and winter type elemental power and Fey Glamour.

Appearance: Beautiful men and woman who appear to be human, but give off an unearthly glow. Pointed ears and large brilliantly colored eyes are trademark. They prefer more freedom in wardrobe and lack traditional style robes, dresses, and such clothing ways of the Seelie Court. Rich shades of dark but glossy colors to black in its most splendid make up their choice in clothing color.

Other:

Pixie- These mean spirited little creatures enjoy making a mess of things, and tend to foul up their job as court messengers. Only when held by their wings will they be honest about what they are supposed to say, and even then it is hard to catch them as they like to change size constantly and become sidetracked at times. They enjoy eating insects, and on occasion will pick what is left from a human body. They have the ability to fly and use fey glamour.

Mountain Trolls- Much larger cousins to the forest trolls, these relatively stupid creatures work as labors and muscle for the Urseelie court. They tend to have silver shackles on their biceps with enchantments so that if need be, one of the nobility can command them back into their place. They are lucky to be in service as they are given their meals instead of needing to find them. Obviously they eat humans.

Moon Elves- These men and women are not like their light-skinned cousins. They wouldn’t be caught dead serving anyone, and tend to serve themselves. They will higher out as assassins, thieves, and just about anything that will make them a profit or earn them a favor. They have power in speed and fey glamour.

Weak/Fallen Sidhe- Those of the summer court who have fallen in a duel to a winter court Sidhe or simply those of winter court who are not strong enough to keep themselves from being treated so fall into servitude for the more powerful. Usually these do not last long as servitude in the Urseelie Court can mean brutal things.

Fey Cats (Cat-Sith)- These are not loyal friends. They are always in for themselves though they weave false affection through the Urseelie Court. They make wonderful spies, and any information they obtain can be bought. Not even members of the Royal house are safe from their betrayals.

Kelpie- These water fairing horses enjoy eating... Anything they can- Except liver as it is toxic. They can take the appearance of horse, person, or a creature of both horse and fish qualities. To get them to allow a ride on their back, one has to first find their true name and swear them to loyalty. Only then will they not drag whoever is on their back into a deep bit of water and drown them. Kelpies are very territorial and cannot stand to share with others of their kind or gender for that matter.

All Fey can take on both their natural form and a humaniod form. =]

Thou Has Fey Glamour

Fey Glamour: A type of magic, in which is fed through strong emotion from the human realm and from weaker fey to stronger fey. This magic allows the fey to hide what and who they are if they are powerful enough. All Fey can hide from humans. Using Fey glamour, a member of the fey can become invisible if they so please. Mind you that a stronger Fey will sense you and can show you to their underlings. The Fey also use Glamour to make things appear differently than they really are. They can make duplicates of themselves just by morphing the appearance of something. Of course, stronger fey will be able to tell that the duplicates are frauds. Still, taking the time to remove the glamour will give you a few seconds to flee or attack. Basically, Fey glamour is a way to trick perception and the senses. Enjoy.

Welcome to the Duel

An Honorable Duel: When a duel is called by a Sidhe of the Seelie court, one can be promised a fair match with the outcome based on skill, thought process, and patience. No Sidhe of the Seelie court would cheat during a duel with small tricks or use the aid of another. They fight one on one, the person they challenge picking the weapon from a sword or dagger. Using fists is a brute way to fight and not allowed in an honorable duel. Powers are not allowed in duels.

A Dishonorable Duel: The Sidhe from the Urseelie court do not see things the way the Seelie court Sidhe do. They hold no stand with honor, finding it a sham. When one calls a duel, they do not always promise to fight just with the weapon their opponent chooses. "Choices" for weapons when a Sidhe from the Urseelie court calls are duel are a sword, a dagger, a mace, a chain, a net, or fists. Of course unlike Seelie Sidhe, a duel called by Urseelie Sidhe does not mean they will use the weapon of choice solely nor does it mean they will fight one on one. The Urseelie court is also not afraid to take on scars unlike those of the Seelie court, and will not call a battle over simply because one's cheek has been sliced too deep. Though powers aren't considered "allowed" in their duels, they still tend to use them when they can get away with it.

Assassination: No Sidhe of the Seelie court will commit an assassination themselves. They find such work beneath them and will send an elf or other lowly creature to commit the act. However, in the Urseelie court, their Sidhe are not as high nosed as the Sidhe from the Seelie court. They will either commit an assassination themselves, or higher an elf to do it. Either they pay for the death or go the cheap route and do it themselves.

Battle: Battles are bloody, and when one erupts, both courts will slaughter without thought. Normal mannerisms are washed away, and only the vicious nature of the fey fighting for what they pride-fully believe right can be witnessed. Powers and weapons come out to play in battles. Torture though is unheard of on both sides. Cannibalism on many of the Urseelie court's side can be witnessed on the battlefield. Both men and women alike can pick up a weapon and fight, though the Seelie Sidhe still hold that females should be the last wave of attack, attempting to keep them safe at all costs.

Character Gender:
There are no "its" in this realm.

Character Age:
Think big, think old, think... Over the Hill! But stay beautiful, alright doll-face?

Fey Court:
Pick a court, any court... There's only two... This is not Law and Order.

Fey Rank:
"Your Majesty?" "Your lordship?" or "Hey you! Get me something to eat and be quick about it!" No, seriously look at the ranking information. It’s under The Courts section. If your royalty, tell me which royal you are.

The True Laws of This Role-play... And other important stuff...

1. This is a mature role-play. Language, thoughts, feelings, acts- no cybering, and violence fit for mature audiences will take place in this role-play.

2. Though there may be sexual references, nothing shall be placed here that crosses the boundaries between what is site approved and what violates site rules on cybering. If you do not understand this, and have a sexual scene in your post, I want you to time-skip the scene. There is to be no graphic sex scenes in this role-play.

3. This will be a semi-lit to literate role-play. There will be a character count placed and I expect at least three to four healthy four to six sentence paragraphs. You will also need to have correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. These are not negotiable; I hate reading posting mistakes every other sentence. Proof reading helps.

4. To get in: You will need to place your skeleton in the ooc, pm me a link to your character's profile, and place Purple Fey Dance At Midnight as title to both the pm and the ooc post.

5. I want artistic tasteful pictures. I'm not saying anime pictures here, I'm saying artistic. I want interesting pictures that do not scream "look for me in this anime". I do not want any real life pictures .

6. God-modding is not allowed in this role-play. Do not do it. NPC's can be killed off, this is fine. If you do battle with a played character make sure that both of you understand the outcome you want with that. Do not kill another's character unless both have consented to the killing and each have pmed me a copy of that consent.

7. The OOC link-> OOC

8. I am the creator of this role-play. It is my original idea. You may find something in it that was influenced by other works, but the idea in a whole is mine. Like all my role-plays, this is based off a dream I had. Yes, I have rather bizarre dreams, I know.
